Rationale Since the beginning, Kanlungan Pilipinas has been a medium of significant changes in various parts of the country. It is a driving force towards the implementation of various programs focusing on outreach, environment, and education. With its Environmental Programs like the Camp for Life, which aims to train and widen the awareness and of the Filipino people on the importance of environment protection and sustainability and the Oplan Linis Daan at Eskwelahan sa Halalan,

which endeavours to maintain cleanliness and consolidation of efforts to keep the community clean and orderly during a more demanding time which is the local and/or national elections. The movement is a steward of environment and advocate of appreciation toward Gods creations. It also participates in different environmental initiatives and events like the International Coastal Clean-up and Earth Hour. Its Outreach Programs like the Oplan Sagip Batang Pier, which won the movement the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) award for 2005, caters the rugby boys and girls in Tondo and gives assistance for their welfare and their project, Kampo ng mga Kabataang Bayani , a week-long immersion camp whereas participants will stay in a chosen rural community to conduct outreach and activities that will promote synergies among the members of the community. In its Educational Programs like the Ang ABAKADA at ang mga Bata, which assists communities in educating its young children in having a heads-up on reading and writing and the Establishment of Mini-Library and Book Drive, which aims to target communities needing help to build simple libraries that they could continue to sustain, promotes the value of education and drive for universal literacy. The movement is serious in taking initiatives in fighting the perils of the society. Every year, the movement is holding its annual national convention. We strongly desire to invite interested advocates of change, students and professionals alike, to the national convention so we may be able to further spread the spirit of national volunteerism. Also, the convention serves as the general assembly of its officials and members. For this years convention, it aims to appeal to the student leaders, youth organizations, school officials, Sangguniang Kabataan, non-government organizations and other groups and individuals to make this event an avenue of collating the best of ideas of all the stakeholders during the discussion and assessment in the convention. The stakeholders will then propose plans, projects or programs to address these inputs. In addition, this convention is also the birth of a Legacy Project on education aimed at a pre-designated Balangay in the country. An advocacy share of Php 500.00 per participant will be a part of their registration fee during the convention that will be awarded to the chosen projects of the movement. This years convention for-acause will help the on-going Oplan Panturo: Pantulong sa mga Guro project of Kanlungan Pilipinas Rosario Batangas Balangay whereas volunteers of this chapter are helping indigent schools in their municipality in making visual aids and training materials that will help teachers for more effective teaching and the annual Kampo ng mga Kabataang Bayani, a week-long immersion camp which will be held in Bokod, Benguet on May 2013. Finally, this convention aims to become a covenant of youth leaders, professionals, volunteers and other interested individuals in sharing their commitments in their quest for the promotion of valuing education for the development of the country. Now on its 12th year, Kanlungan Pilipinas in partnership with active institutional stakeholders on the issue, aim to collect the best model, principles and approaches to the concerns in education today. These will be the objectives of the 7th Convention of the movement which will be held in the Summer Capital of the Philippines, the City of Pines, and the well-known Baguio City in the Philippines.

Goal This Convention aims to recognize and strengthen the awareness, concern, responsibility and commitment among the stakeholders on the value of taking action towards change for the better and the advocacy of reaching out to all corners of the country to educate everyone, which in turn will assist the for development of our country. Highlights of the Convention Series of Talks: Talk #1 - The Philippine Education at a Glance Mr. Nelson G. Agoyaoy, the Director for Education and Research of Kanlungan Pilipinas and the Model Faculty for 2012 of the University of the East, will give the participants a talk on the milestones of Philippine Education and how it shapes the nation. Talk #2 - New Image of Activism: The Kanlungan Way Activism as one of the famous solutions of some Filipinos in changing this country will be redefined by Mr. Herald Kyut Villarca, the Founder and Chairman of Kanlungan Pilipinas, and how this movement introduced this act as a tool for change through its programs and projects. Talk #3 - The Filipino Youth Situationer The National Youth Commission, serving as the voice that champions the youth in the country is the government's own arm for youth affairs, will discuss to the participants the current situation of the Filipino Youth through a talk which will be rendered by the NYC Chairman, Usec. Leon G. Flores III. Talk #4 - The Thin Line Between Education and Learning Mr. Lloyd A. Luna, the President of LLOYDLUNA Companies, a successful Filipino Youth and prominent motivational speaker, will give his insights on the value of education and learning and the secrets for becoming a successful individual. Talk #5 - The Role of the Youth in Education Another esteemed persona in the NYC, Ms. Georgina P. Nava, the NYC Commissioner for Luzon will give us an informative talk about the significant role of the youth as the backbone of the society in the education in the Philippines. Talk #6 - The Youth-led Development Initiatives in Baguio-Benguet An inspiring talk from Ms. Nova Kudan, an alumna of Benguet State University and a DevCom advocate, on the efforts of the young people in Baguio-Benguet in promoting environment protection, education development and culture and heritage sustainability in the Cordilleras and beyond.

The Legacy Projects After the series of talks, Ms. Marianne Magtibay Custodio, the Adviser of Kanlungan Pilipinas Rosario Batangas Balangay will present the profile of the Oplan Panturo: Pantulong sa mga Guro, the recipient project of the Advocacy Shares from the Convention and Ms. Nova Kudan for the upcoming Kampo ng mga Kabataang Bayani. Education Advocates: Synergize! The participants will be organized into groups to draft project plans in relation to the convention theme for them to take action on to serve as the output for this Convention. This will be facilitated by Atty. Ernesto Salao, the Director for Legal Affairs and Ms. Arlene Donaire, Director for Linkages and Networking, both from Kanlungan Pilipinas. Sharing of Commitments On the last day, during the Closing Program, the participants will sign a Covenant expressing their pledge of contributions for the development of the country by being educational advocates, through the Sharing of Commitments.

Educational Tour The most exciting part of the event is the Educational Tour showing some hidden treasures of La Trinidad, Benguet where the participants will visit the Tamawan Village and Strawberry Farm before the participants head back to their respective
hometowns.
