• Once you have learnt the letters and comfortable with usage of upper case and lower case, start learning
words. Read the words and remember them. You need to use those words regularly in your
conversation and you get them by practice.
• Once you have learnt the nouns, verbs, tenses its time to know how to form sentences. When you have
a sentence which you want to say in Kannada, do not try to translate it from English, instead translate
the sentence to your mother tongue or any other Indian language you are familiar with and then
just replace each word with the equivalent Kannada word, this will help you to form any Kannada
sentence on your own.
• To start with the formation of sentences, you need not worry about the tenses.
Start with putting all the nouns, pronouns, verbs in the order of “subject-action-object”. Later
once you are comfortable with forming a sentence in the proper order, you can concentrate on using proper
tenses of each words.
Key things which will help you in learning Kannada faster are:
• Keep talking to your Kannadiga colleagues in Kannada itself, also you can make a group among your friends and start
practicing,
practicing, even though you are at the initial level of learning. Any language can be learnt only through practice.
• Keep watching Kannada News Channels on TV and Listening to FM Radio airing Kannada programs for more and more
Kannada words.
• Interact more with vegetable vendors, bus conductors, auto drivers, house maid in Kannada itself,
itself, the more you speak the
more you learn.
