This time, the Kavas brothers Alexandros and Giorgos, steered their boat straight into the first overall, gold-medal winning place of the 2011 Tavira (Algarve) 420 International Open European Championship held in Portugal during 23-29 July, where they competed with 280 sailors from 16 countries. This comes only a month after the Kavas brothers' previous success in winning the third overall place in the highly competitive Kieler-Woche 420 International Sailing Event held in Kiel during 18-26 June 2011, as part of the ISAF Sailing World Cup. These guys are unstoppable! There is no secret to Alexandros and Giorgos' - two of the three sons of Vangelis and Xanthipi - success, other than talent, hard work and commitment to racing-level sailing. This is the only way to systematically beat the best 420 crews from all over Europe. The Kavas brothers in a winning streak (Tavira, Portugal) "I feel very happy", said Alexander, "this is our best achievement so far". It is event sweetener for the Kavas brothers, as they lost the gold medal in the final race of last year's 470 Junior Europeans. Alexandros, Giorgos and their brother Fanis, all High-School students today, are the new generation of Kavas Yachting management, already active in the company's various activities. Last August, Alexandros and Giorgos came second overall in the 420 Junior European Championship held in La Rochelle, France. In January 2011, while in Buenos Aires, Argentina for the International 420 Class Open World Championship 2011, they received a special award for the highest placed team with both sailors under 16 years of age, while they were also awarded the Huck Scott Memorial Trophy as the youngest team.
