Docs with no Code: Title: Beyond Assignment Score: C Comments: This film feels incomplete.

There is no introduction or commentary about the pieces that are strung together. In most careers there are stages, such as beginner, accomplished, expert, and emeritus. This film shows three women who are photojournalists. In the first piece a woman discusses her subject then herself then her subject with intense feelings of superiority then herself. The second piece is a woman who talks about her career with a little background of herself. She mostly describes what she is doing. The third piece is a woman who sounds like she is a therapist to her subjects. She diagnoses their problems and speaks intimately to the people she photographs and maintains a relationship with them afterward. Most people viewing the film would have to be pretty far along in their own professions to recognize the stages in another profession. The camera feels like an intrusion especially in the last piece. Title: Bottled Life Nestles Business with water Score: B Comments: This film goes through profound research, and unending requests for permission to film, only to end up interviewing local librarians. I was put off by the film maker saying But you gave us permission to film out here as he was trying to get in closer. I suspect he was crying foul on a few other instances. The whole film sounds like Grandpa sold the farm that no one wanted but now that someone is making money its not right. This is a polished Corporate Bad Guy film. If they ignore the protestors they are evil, but also included are several public speeches that counter the claims of the protestors. The third world countries now have an infrastructure to work with Nestles doesnt have to repair it all the time. People seem to be mad that they are selling water for a profit but thats what our

country is based on, and aggressive marketing for something you dont need thats USA. Title: Day By Day Score: C Comments: I really didnt like it because it felt like it couldnt be genuine. Everybody was very attractive the camera was focused and steady and Chris Lemmon was repeating everything everyone just said. There was some mention of a foundation or some organization but I didnt feel the need for it. There were young people talking about coping with an ill sibling, one of which was diabetes. I think we all grew up with someone who was not like the rest of us. Sometimes we knew kids who were gong to die, or even we werent expected to live. Medicine has come a long way but nature takes its course. The lack of urgency made most of the film seem boring. The speakers were dressed perfectly their hair was perfect, their make-up was tasteful and no one interrupted a speaker. This all looks like actors portraying the families and some things were not disclosed. Not every victim of a disease was focused upon, yet they are supposed to be what was creating all the siblings issues. One young man said he developed OCD because his sister needed medical care. The film is pretty but shallow. Title: King Me Score: C Comments: This was as well done as possible but I dont think there is much interest for it. It was shot in Ohio so there may be some people who can say I know those guys. There are shots of random checker players and their memorabilia. Then, there are shots of South Africa and Barbados and it ends up in Medina, Ohio. There were more checker players at the matches in South Africa and Barbados than there were at the world championship game in Medina. This is a tell tale sign that not so many people are interested in the subject. A small conference room in a family style hotel with extra chairs stacked is not a good look for a film. I would say less than ten people have this obsessive interest

in the game. The riff between the South African association and the player is childlike. The audience does not have to see every lie that comes out of his face, very unattractive.
