Solution to Tata Photon Plus Vista/Win7 Driver Installation Problems

If youre a subscriber of Tata photon plus USB wireless broadband connection, and have problem installing the driver software in Windows Vista/ Win 7 then checkout the rest of this post for getting solutions to those problems.

Tata Photon Plus Problems and Solutions Even after Installation of Driver software Huawei Acess Manager from the inbuilt disk drive, tata photon modem is not detected and no range is shown in the software. Solution: Uninstall the Huawei Access Manager. Go to Device Manager [Control Panel]

Click View> Devices by type > Universal Serial Bus controllers Uninstall the USB composite device Remove photon device and Restart the system [important] Insert device and install the driver software again

Now the Huawei Mobile connect modem will be detected and range will be shown in the UI. Tata photon+ shows Error message while connecting as "Error 678 : Remote computer did not respond" Go to My Computer>Properties. Go to Hardware >Device manager Select the Tata Photon Plus modem

Right click & select properties Select Advanced tab option Write AT+CRM=1 in the text box.

Click on ok Restart the Computer. Tata photon plus shows No HSIA Range Signal In case, if your photon device does not show hsia signal, make sure youre having the latest firmware version of the hardware USB device. In my next post, ill include the link and procedure on how to update the firmware of tata photon USB modem.

Anonymous August 20, 2010 at 4:28 pm I am using windows 7 ultimate 32-bit operating system and tata photon+ huawei ec1261 is the data card. If i directly plug-in data card, windows don't recognize it but when i plug-in and restart after restart when I call tata photon+ application to connect, it works. Why it doesn't detect direct plug-in and what is the solution for it? Thanks, Shah Reply

renjith August 21, 2010 at 1:46 pm you can use the tata photon application as well as the default dial up connection in your windows. just select the huawei modem while dialing and use the dial number as #777. Use the same username and password as in the photon application Reply

Anonymous December 29, 2010 at 5:50 am I had a problem similar to this, was not getting the signal after installation. But my vendor uninstalled it and tried reinstalling, but the modem does not autoplay or by double-clicking does not execute AutoRun.exe file. What should I do? Please help. Reply

Anonymous January 1, 2011 at 7:47 am Thanks Renjith. I forgot to mention I don't have Huawei Modem, but have VME-101 Olive of Tata Photon+. It displays itself as a CD drive and contains AutoRun.exe, AutoRun.inf, Autorun.ico, a user manual, and Datacard Soft folder that contains a setup.exe, but the setup.exe file simply shows the installer verification from 1% to 100% and then the installer vanishes. The actual installation wizard opened up in Autorun.exe only. I am unable to install the modem ultimately. Please get me a solution to this. The TATA photon customer care says either I have to change the device or format my C drive, but the device works fine on other PCs and laptops. Also the vendor got a demo device which he is able to install with absolutely no problem. Reply

The device shows very good signal strength but when I try to connect, it says "connection terminated" . I called customer service she asked me to uninstal and re-instal but it's of no use. Anonymous March 5, 2011 at 6:38 am I installed tata photon ( Humwaei) on my laptop and was able to connect to net it was working fine. Not sure about the reason but from last 2-3 days i am getting phone#777 error I have installed the modem again also. Talked to the customer care but still not able to connect using modem. Anonymous March 20, 2011 at 1:24 pm This is for anonymous person who wrote in hindi. Dear, I dont think there is anything wrong with your device. I believe, this could be due to DNS resolution problem. When you connect, try "ping http://www.google.com" through your command line. Check if you get response. I cannot type all the things here but you can contact me at singhprabjeet2003@gmail.com . If you do not get ping response (ip resolution), try using the DNS to 4.2.2.2 or 172.31.6.5 or 121.242.190.180 . Hope this helps, otherwise, mail me. Reply

avinash barnwal February 2, 2012 at 4:09 am In my case, it was "VMWare USB Arbitration Service" which was conflicting on my Win7 (64 bit) for Huawei Modem EC1261 (Tata photon). Once I disabled "VMWare USB Arbitration Service", the device installed perfectly, and connected to Internet. thanks Avinash Reply

But now when i tried connecting in network photon plus it gives me error "No phone line detected." Although when i try connecting in network photon whiz i am able to connect but speed is pathetic. 2 kbps to max 40 kbps. Can you plz help me Reply

MD March 17, 2012 at 5:18 am i have a similar problem with windows xp. it suddenly stopped recognizing the tata p+ device. I think it has trouble when the installer runs "updateUI.exe" while installing the tata application onto the computer. and, the "huawei mobile device" doesnt install. Reply

roop June 23, 2012 at 2:15 pm Hello, I have VME 101 olive device of tat photon +. It is installing the setup on my DELL inspiron PC. but when the dialler opens for connection, the system shows the error device dirver not installed succesfully. I have tried uninstalling composite device using device manager but after that also its not working. Kindly help me out any one. Reply

Vikas Singh July 3, 2012 at 7:40 pm i was facing this issue last few months after long time i got the solution . which is mentioned below. solution for error 711 with Tata photon+ in win7. (1) first step:-HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Service\RasMan Export this key to your pc (just in case it doesnt work) Click on the Value DependOnService Remove the SstpSvc entry. Reboot.. RasMan should start and the issue should be gone. Other wise do this step. First: Start Computer Second: Go to C:\windows\system32\logfiles\WMI\RtBackup Third: Delete all files in the RtBackup folder or rename RtBackup folder like (RtBackup_old) . Forth: Now restart your computer Reply

niral August 7, 2012 at 11:29 am hi i am tata photon plus user since long time. havent face any problem with it. but recently i upgrade my system from vista to windows 7.. the problem now i am facing is my photon works well for 5to 7 minutes and then it automatically disconnected and within few seconds my laptop is also shut down. i am using huwai device ec 156. i have tried uninsatlling and installing itbut not helpful..can anyone provide me solution. thanx

renjith August 8, 2012 at 7:37 pm Hi Niral, I also faced the same problem, first photon gets disconnected and then laptop gets shutdown. For me, re-installing the photon+ driver solved the problem.[I had also done a firmware update for huawei device] Reply

Ravi August 8, 2012 at 2:21 pm I bought a Tata Photon + data card, when i tried to install the device is detected and the auto rum starts and installs, when the installation progress bar reaches around 80%, another trigger of the USB detection happens and immediately the same application starts running abandoning the previous instance. i tried several times could not able to install. please suggest is you do have any solution.
