Section 2. Scope of Work 2.

1 Introduction Under the provisions of this contract, the contractor shall perform all the work s related to Pre Engineered Building (PEB) Roofing system in accordance with the drawings, specifications and bill of quantities which shall form part of the te nder documents 2.2 General Scope The scope of the work of Pre engineered building roofing system shall be design, engineering, manufacture, protective packaging, supply, erection, performance t esting and handing over of Pre engineered building roofing system and accessorie s as per building descriptions, technical specifications and drawings. The tenderer shall give the following options of roofing system. Screwed down system with self tapping screws. Standing seam or Monolithic Roofing system The tenderer shall give the following options of material of construction of the roofing system. Bare galvalume/zincalume sheet roofing Color coated sheet roofing The tenderer shall furnish the detailed break up of the rates as per the enclose d blank Bill of Materials for all the buildings as per Building Descriptions. The tenderer shall furnish all technical specifications/technical parameters in the enclosed format based on which the tenderer is quoting the price. The scope of the work shall include the following. Providing data about the structural reactions along with the structural supporti ng conditions, corner conditions and highlights of the system to the consultants for their approval as per the agreed schedules. Submission of all the drawings, design calculations, design brief and all inform ation relating to the design shall be submitted to the consultants for their app roval. Based on the approval, re submission and getting the approval from the consultan ts, if required, before proceeding with the fabrication. Prepare and submission of anchor bolt plan to the consultants based on the final ized drawings and designs. Fabrication of all structural steel based on the approval drawings including roo fing and cladding system which comprises of base plates, rafters, anchor plates, purlins, bracings, framed openings, roofing, skylights, monitors wherever speci fied along with approved accessories etc. complete. Supply of anchor bolts as per the approved design along with double templates (a s many required by the client to suit their construction schedules) in approved fabricated form to the site for casting of the reinforced cement concrete elemen ts by the civil contractor. Supervision and checking of positioning and alignment of the anchor bolts which will be fixed by the civil contractor and authorizing the position of the anchor bolts before completion of casting of reinforced cement concrete elements. Coordination with contractors operating in the project site for better monitorin g. Complete fabrication of the material as per approved drawings and technical spec ifications including the application of primer as per the agreed building descri

ptions and technical specifications. Getting the approval from the consultants before the application of final painti ng. Application of final painting as per the approved technical specifications and b uilding descriptions to the satisfaction of ITC. Protective packaging to avoid the damage during transit and transporting of the material to the site as per the agreed norms. Unloading of material at the site at the allocated area and stacking/storing of material as per the agreed norms. Erection of the structure, roofing and wall panels with accessories as per the a pproved erection sequence. Testing and commissioning of the complete system with accessories(inclusive of a ll but not limited to water test as per the relevant specifications) Touch up paint wherever required shall be applied All other works which may be necessary for completing the broader definition of scope of works mentioned in the above. All roof panels are to be provided with provision for tying the life line at all rafter locations on both the sides of the building at the eaves level for maint enance provision. To provide maintenance guide lines and giving the demonstration to the maintenan ce people. The contractor is required to carry out such tests as are specified in the techn ical specifications and the relevant IS Codes. The contractor shall carryout the works complying with ITCs EHS guidelines as given in section 7.21 and as given i n the technical specifications. The contractor shall do all such works as are specified in the Bill of Quantitie s and such other works which are not specifically mentioned in the Bill of Quant ities but are required to complete the above said works in totality and no adjus tment to the contract sum shall be made on this ground. The contractor shall prepare a Quality assurance plan as per appendix 7.12 and h ave the same duly approved by the architect and project management consultant. T he contractor shall also be required to maintain a lab at site to monitor on sit e quality parameters of the materials being used in the works. The contractor shall perform cleaning of items provided as a part of the contrac t, before final acceptance of the work by ITC, including removal of unwanted con struction debris dust, dirt, stains, etc. The contractor shall remove trash and rubbish from every area as soon as practic able during and after completion of the work, dismantle the temporary constructi on facilities and remove from ITCs premises the construction offices, stores, pla nt and equipment, fences, scaffolding, rubbish of every kind, surplus materials, temporary hard structures and supplies belonging to contractor or its subcontra ctors and leave as found. Close out Documentation As built drawing & design documents. Quality report, MTC and third party reports. Inspection Records. Maintenance Manual.

3.1. PREAMBLE TO SPECIFICATIONS 1. The conditions of contract and the drawings shall be read in conjunction with the specifications and matters referred to, shown or described in one are not n ecessarily repeated in the other. These specifications are comprehensive and may exceed the requirements of this project. Any ambiguity between the General Spec ifications, the Bill of quantities and contract drawings, shall be referred to t he Consultant/Construction Manager for clarification before the date fixed for d elivery of Tenders. Any ambiguity may be referred to the Architect/Construction Manager after signing of the contract and Consultant shall give a ruling, which shall prevail. No claim for additional cost due to above, however, will be enter tained. 2. Notwithstanding the sub-division of the specification into various headings, every part of it is to be deemed supplementary to every other part and is to be read with it, so far as it may be practicable so to do, or when the context so a dmits. 3. In this contract, reference is made to the Indian Standards and these referen ces shall be deemed to include the latest editions or issue of standards, specif ications or By-Law including all revisions up to the date of invitation of Tende rs. The contractor shall ensure that all materials and workmanship in so far as they apply to this contract shall comply in every specifications or any other eq uivalent or specification approved by Architect/Construction Manager. 4. The Contractor shall keep at site copies of all relevant standards and codes of practice referred in these specifications throughout the period of contract. These shall be the latest editions and shall include all revisions/addendums the reof. 5. List of Approved Manufacturers: Names of approved manufacturers are given in the specifications. 6. Reference in the specifications to approved manufacturers shall be construed as establishing a standard of quality and not as limiting competition. 7. The Contractor shall include in his prices for supplying the item or material s from the approved manufacturers list enclosed. 8. All items or materials shall be delivered to the site in the manufacturers or iginal unopened containers with the manufacturers brand and name clearly marked on. 9. All items or materials shall be assembled, mixed, fixed, applied or otherwise incorporated in the works in accordance with the printed instructions of the ma nufacturer of the item or materials. 10. Contractor shall follow the check list for all the items.

3.2. 1.

DESIGN BRIEF ANALYSIS:

The buildings mentioned in the project description shall be analyzed as 3-Dimens ional frame structural system. The buildings shall be modeled using STAAD PRO, 2 005 version. SI units shall be followed for entire analysis and design. The mod el space frame shall be analyzed for dead loads (DL), live loads (LL), wind load s (WL), collateral loads and seismic loads (EQ) and their combinations as per IS : 875 1987: Code of Practice for design loads (other than earthquake) for buildi ngs and structures & IS: 1893 (Part 1): Criteria for Earthquake Resistant Design of the structures and structure is to be designed as per the standard practice and in conformity with IS: 800-2007: Structural Steel Design. 2. SUPPORT CONDITIONS:

All supports of the building shall be considered as fixed supports at the eaves level for the analysis as per the requirements. Effective length of the columns shall be considered as per the standard codes of practice. 3. LOADS:

a. Dead Load (DL): Dead loads shall cover unit weight/mass of materials, and parts or components in a building that apply to the determination of the dead loads in the design of b uildings and shall be considered as per IS: 875 (Part 1) - 1987 according to the densities of the possible components. This includes main frames, purlins, girt, cladding, bracing and connections etc. b. Imposed Loads (LL): Imposed loads shall be considered as per IS: 875 (Part 2) 1987. Live load shall be considered as 0.75 KN/sqm for the analysis and design. c. Wind Load (WL): The basic wind speed and design velocity which shall be modified shall be taken as per IS: 875 (Part 3) 1987. The basic wind speed at Mysore shall be considered as 33m/sec as per IS: 875 (Pa rt III). This shall be considered for calculating the wind loads. Analysis shall be carried out by considering future expansions if any which has been indicated in the building descriptions and critical forces shall be taken for design.

d. Collateral Load: Collateral load from the roof (other than the dead load and live load) shall be considered from the purlins as per the following for various buildings for servi ces such as electrical cable trays, sprinkler pipes, compressor pipe lines and o ther services etc. Plant Building GLS, Cooling, RDS Power House : 0.35 KN/sqm : 0.35 KN/sqm : 1.00 KN/sqm

e. Seismic Load (EQ): The proposed structures in this project shall be analyzed for seismic forces. The seismic zone shall be considered as per IS: 1893-2002 (Part 1). For analys is and design, Zone II shall be considered as Mysore region falls under this zon e as per IS: 1893-2002 (Part 1). Earthquake analysis shall be carried out using STAAD PRO 2005 as per the provisions of IS: 1893-2002 (Part 1) & IS: 1893-2005 (part 4). The analysis parameters shall be taken as per the following. METHOD OF DESIGN All the structural steel elements shall be designed as per IS: 800-2007. Fabrica tion & Erection as per relevant IS Code. CONNECTION DETAILS All flanges and webs of primary members shall be welded on both sides of the web . All connections shall be bolted unless otherwise specified. No building connecti on should be designed to have any slip critical joints.

PITCH OF THE ROOFING A slope of 1 in 10 shall be considered for all the buildings for the roofing sys tem unless otherwise specified. MODE OF MEASUREMENTS Measurements shall be considered as plan area of the sheeting i.e. end to end of the sheeting as per the approved drawings.

3.3 MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS GENERAL The specifications mentioned in this chapter are indicative purpose only. The ma nufacturer shall give specifications for all the materials as per the statement which has been listed in the design brief. FINISH OF THE MEMBERS All framing members shall be cleaned by shot blasting to remove all dirt, greas e, oil, loose mill scale, weld slag, flux deposit and other foreign matter, and given one shop coat of zinc chromate primer conforming to IS: 104-1962: Specific ation for ready mixed paint, brushing, zinc chrome, priming. After application o f the primer, a coat of undercoating shall be applied to have a smooth and level foundation for the finishing coat and above the under coat, two finishing coats shall be applied as per IS: 1477 (Part II) 1971: Code of Practice for Painting of Ferrous Metals in Buildings. The total film thickness shall not be less than 60 microns. All the painting shall be factory made. No site painting shall be al lowed, only touch up painting shall be allowed if required. All secondary members such as purlins, wall girts shall be coated with zinc coat ing to the standard of 275 g/sqm. All fixing clamps for the down spouts shall have the paint finish with enamel pa inting which the coating thickness shall not be less than 100 microns. PRIMARY MEMBERS Primary members (Built up Sections) shall be fabricated from hot rolled steel pl ates conforming to ASTM A 572 M Grade 345 with minimum yield strength of 345 MPa . Flanges shall be welded to the web double side welding i.e. on both sides of t he web. Members fabricated from hot rolled structural shapes shall have minimum yield st rength of 250 MPa and shall conform to the physical specifications of ASTM A 36 or equivalent. The finish of the primary members shall be with zinc chromate primer and enamel painting as specified. The Rafters & Columns should be fabricated considering full plate length for the entire rafter & column length as practicable. SECONDARY MEMBERS All secondary members such as purlins, girts shall be galvanized and shall be fa bricated from cold formed steel coils conforming to ASTM A 653 M or equivalent w ith zinc coating to Z275 designation (275 g/sqm) having minimum yield strength o f 345 MPa. Rod bracing shall have minimum yield strength of 250 MPa and shall conform to th e physical specifications of ASTM A 36 or equivalent and the paint finish shall be with two coats of zinc chromate primer and synthetic enamel painting as per t

he painting specification. All other miscellaneous secondary members shall have minimum yield strength of 2 50 Mpa and the paint finish shall be with the zinc chromate primer and synthetic enamel painting as per the painting specification. All the purlins shall be provided with pre punched holes at every 600mm centre t o centre to have the supporting provision for suspension of services. All sag rods shall have bolting arrangements to ensure the alignment of the purl ins. CONNECTIONS All field connections shall be bolted. (Unless otherwise specified) All primary bolted connections, as shown on drawings, shall be furnished with hi gh strength bolts conforming to the physical specifications of ASTM A 325 or equ ivalent. All secondary bolted connections as shown on drawings shall be furnished with ma chine bolts conforming to the physical specifications of ASTM A 307 or equivalen t. All shop connections shall be welded using either submerged or shielded arc proc ess, and welding shall be in accordance with the applicable sections, relating t o design requirements and allowable stresses, of the latest editions of the Amer ican Welding Society Structural Welding Code. ANCHOR BOLTS Anchor bolts shall be the rods conforming to ASTM A 36M or equivalent with a min imum yield strength of 235 MPa and an ultimate strength of 402 MPa. ROOF PANELS AND WALL PANELS 1) SCREWED DOWN ROOF SYSTEM Roof panels shall be roll formed with minimum thickness of 0.45mm base metal thi ckness and total coated thickness of 0.50mm cold rolled steel coated with alumin um zinc alloy (55% Aluminum, 45% Zinc), minimum 150 g/sqm total on both sides ha ving a minimum yield strength of 345 MPa. Color coated roof panels shall have a total coating thickness of nominal 35 micr ons comprising of 20 microns exterior top coat on surface and nominal 5 microns reverse coat on back surface over nominal 5 microns primer coat on both surfaces . 2) STANDING SEAM ROOF SYSTEM Roof panels

Structural standing seam roof panels shall be of a true standing seam configurat ion, requiring no end closures. Structural standing seam roof panels shall be precision roll formed panels and s hall be furnished to maximum possible lengths to minimize end laps. Panel ends shall be sufficiently lapped located at supporting members, and seale

d with butyl mastic. Factory rib notching shall be furnished on panels requiring end laps. Panel end shall occur at structural members. Standard panels shall be with minimum thickness of 0.60mm bare metal thickness minimum and total coated thickness of 0.65mm 345MPa yield strength and coatings specifications shall be as per the screwed down system roofing. Batten cleats shall be also of same material as panels and shall come with facto ry applied mastic. Provision for fixing a life line at every rafter location at both the eves ends of all building to be provided Fastening and joining

The panels shall be fastened with steel matching color, self tapping fasteners i ncluding sealing washer assemblies at eave members and fab lock fasteners at end lap locations. All other structural fastening of panel to sub structural members shall be by co ncealed clip. Thermal contraction and expansion of the roof panel is to occur wi thin panel ends independently of the structure frame. The batten cleat, closure shall be mechanically seamed with field operated, elec tric seaming machine. Trims and accessories:

Location of trims and accessories shall be as shown on shop drawings. Materials used for trim and accessories shall correspond with roofing materials unless oth er materials are specified. FASTENERS Standard fasteners shall be metallic polyester coated, heat treated carbon steel conforming to AS 3566 class 3, hex head, self drilling screws, assembled with g alvanized steel washers bonded with EPDM seals. The wall fasteners shall be painted to match the color of the panels. SEALER Sealer for side laps, end laps and windows shall be extruded electrometric butyl rubber based sealant or equivalent. The sealer shall be non asphaltic, non shri nking, non drying, non toxic and shall have adhesion to metals, plastics and pai nted surfaces. Special grade silicone sealants shall be used at side laps and end laps wherever required. FLASHING, TRIM AND CLOSURES Flashing and/or trim shall be furnished at the rake, corners, and eaves, framed openings, and wherever necessary to provide weather tightness and finished appea rance. Color coated steel for flashing, metal closure, trim and other miscellaneous use s shall be of the same specification as the roof and wall covering material. 100 mm flashing to be considered for the masonry wall & sheet joint locations for th e inside of all buildings with the flashing top matching the profile of the roof

sheet. Foam closures shall be used additionally to match the panel profile made up of p olyurethane or similar material. EAVE GUTTERS AND DOWN SPOUTS Gutters shall be box shaped, pre painted galvalume/zincalume steel which shall b e designed based on the rain water and catchments area calculations and accordin gly, the size and thickness shall be calculated. The outside face of the gutter s shall be supported with color coated galvanized steel clamps suitably designed for fixing to the eave members. The specification of the material shall be with color coated galvalume/zincalume sheet of suitable thickness based on the design. The sealant filling shall be c onsidered around the downspouts cutouts. Down spouts shall be rectangular shaped and shall have a 45 degree elbow at the bottom and shall be supported by attachment to the reinforced cement concrete co lumns with color coated galvanized steel clamps at a designed spacing. SKY LIGHT PANELS All skylights shall be provided with 2mm thick UV resistant polycarbonate sheet to match to the profile of the roof sheeting with necessary sealants and tapes e tc. complete. The polycarbonate sheet shall have the light transmitting property of 60%+/5%. The area of the skylights shall be calculated based on the locations shown in th e drawings. The tenderer shall indicate the area in the attached Bill of Materia ls. The location indicated in the drawings is tentative only and subject to be c hanged. The skylight panels shall be designed to take care of the live load of 75 Kg/Sqm t and accordingly, the tenderer shall provide the detailing of the skylight pane ls. MONITOR ROOF The monitor roof of 1500mm plan opening and a total height of 1500mm for the Pla nt building shall be designed. The break up for the height is as per the followi ng. 150mm height bottom flashing similar to the specification of the flashings. 1500 X 1200mm, UV resistant acrylic sheet glazing with 6mm sheet thickness as pe r the drawing. 1500 X 1200mm, 50 micron anodized louver with minimum thickness of louvers being 2mm. 150mm height top flashing similar to the specification of the flashings. The frame work shall consist of cold rolled steel sections and hot rolled sectio ns with the paint finish as per the painting specification and the roofing shall be done similar as roof panels. The frame work for the monitor window for the glazing and for the stainless stee l mesh shall be with anodized aluminum of which thickness of anodizing shall not be less than 15 microns.

RIDGE VENTILATORS Ridge ventilators shall be manufactures from pre painted galvanized steel with n ecessary accessories as per the requirement. The throat of the ridge ventilators shall be considered as 600mm. The length of the ridge ventilators shall be cons idered as 3000mm. NORTH LIGHT GLAZING North light glazing shall be provided with natural anodized aluminum frame work of which thickness of anodizing shall not be less than 50 microns and the glazin g shall be with 5mm thick acrylic sheet. The gaps all round the frames shall be sealed with UV resistant silicone sealant and weather sealers to ensure the wate r tightness. Necessary top and bottom flashings, closing above the north lights with tapes and foam fillers wherever applicable shall be considered. The tenderer shall specify the materials used for the window with all technical specifications.

EAVES ENDS The gap between the bottoms of the rafter to the bottom of the sheeting shall be closed with brick masonry which will be by the civil contractor. Color coating cladding shall be considered for the columns areas and along the wall with requi red accessories. ROOF ACCESS Roof access ladders shall be provided at two locations for all the warehouse bui ldings (i.e. RDS, GLS and cooling) with 750*750mm platform at the top with suita ble handrails.
