RIVER REGION BALLET to Present

The Sleeping Beauty

What better way to celebrate fifteen years of producing ballet performances in the river parishes than by presenting the opulent classical ballet The Sleeping Beauty. First performed over 100 years ago, this timeless fairy tale by Charles Perrault was brought to life by the genius of Tchaikovskys music and Petipas choreography. It is a fairy tale replete with a king and queen, fairies both good and evil, a beautiful princess and dream prince, magical stage effects, and courtly splendor. Perfect for a full evening of ballet, it is grandiose and refined. A blending of traditional mime, expressive pas daction, and spectacular divertissements performed in the classical style create a lavish theatrical ballet. The River Region Ballet will present The Sleeping Beauty, staged by artistic director Susan Ferrara, on Saturday March 27 at 7:30 pm and Sunday March 28 at 2:00 pm. Both performances will be held at Destrehan Auditorium #1 Wildcat Lane in Destrehan. Last seen in the RRBs annual Nutcracker performance, the beautiful Eleanor Carney will dance the role of Princess Aurora with her own handsome prince, husband Ian Carney Also performing with the company in the roles of Blue Bird and Princess Florine is are Diogo DeLima and Laurel Zaleski. RRB is proud and honored that so many original company members and past alumni will grace the stage once more proving that our endeavors hold special meaning to the people we touch.
