Respected Sir, It is our pleasure to inform you that, Late Prof.

Kamleshwar Nath Gupta, was very well known Information Scientist and Academician of Delhi who had spent in the LIS profession around 37 years (1960- 1997) holding different positions as Lecturer, Reader, Professor & Head, Department of Library and Information Science at University of Delhi and have also served as a faculty at the Department of Library and Information Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. Prof. Gupta received his higher education from three universities, namely, Punjab University, University of Delhi and Banaras Hindu University. He had worked in two leading Universities i.e. Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and University of Delhi in different capacities together for a period of more than three decades- right from the lower rung of professional ladder to the prestigious position of Head of the Department. Besides Prof. Gupta was having vast researchexperience of 37 years to his credit. He has authored above two dozens research papers in different journals and book chapters of both national and international repute, authored/edited 04 books, and successfully guided several M.Phil. and Ph.Ds Scholars. Besides, as an excellent and popular teacher, a competent and devoted professional, an able academic administrator and overall as an honest and upright professional, Prof. Gupta could create a separate space not only in the LIS map of Indiabut also abroad. He has a strong administrative ability and one of the most popular teachers in the country in his fields (Especially in Cataloguing) besides an excellent researcher of high order. His research students are spread over the entire country and even beyond. By virtue of his honesty, dedication and professional acumen, Prof. Gupta had associated with various highpowered committees such as Member of editorial board of the Journal of Library and Information Science, Member of the Expert committee of Agra University to examine the up gradation of its Certificate course in Library and Information Science. He was also selection committee member of Librarian for Union Public Service Commission, New Delhi, Staff Selection Commission, New Delhi, Public Service Commission, Allahabad, Public Enterprises centre for Continuing Education, New Delhi, Sachdeva Public School, Pitam Pura New Delhi. He was also member of the Board of Studies in Library and Information Science at Banaras Hindu University, University of Delhi, Curriculum designing Committee for Library and Information Science at Agra University, and member of the M.Phil Committee in Library and Information Science at University of Delhi since 1979 to 1997 He was invited as an expert by Raja Ram Mohan Roy Educational Resource Centre, Government of India, New Delhi on the compilation of a National Catalogue of their resources. He was member of the Board of Research Studies in Humanities to represent Library and Information Science at Faculty of Arts, University of Delhi. He was also member of M. Phil. Committee in Library and Information Science for 15 years and member of the Departmental Research Committee for 11 years. Apart from that He was an examiner of the 18 Universities and some well known institutions for Ph.D. /M. Phil/M.L.I.Sc./B.Lib. Sc. /Diploma in Library and Information Science examinations for several years. He was also invited as a resource person to deliver the lectures in University of Kashmir, Agra University, Andhra Pradesh Open University, University of Delhi, Aligarh Muslim University and several well known Schools. As a token of love and a goodwill gesture, LIS teachers, students, scholars, friends, professional colleagues, and well wishers who have been closely associated with him are keen to bring out a book in the memory of Late Prof. Kamleshwar Nath Gupta.
