Scene 13: When Ravana was told about the death of Indrajita, he fainted and lay unconscious for

some time. When he came to himself, his heart filled with anger. (He went to his warriors and ministers) Ravana: Today, I shall use the arrows given to me by Brahma and destroy both Rama and Lakshamana. But first I shall slay Sita, the cause of all woes. (Ravana went to the Hall. His friends followed him and held him back) Wisest minister: Why do you give away to your anger, O lord? How can you think of killing a woman? Kill her lord instead! Go forth to victory and tomorrow Sita will be yours! (Rama went to his assembly hall. Sat on his throne and breathe like a serpent) Ravana: Go forth now and fight Rama! Wound him and wear him for I shall kill him tomorrow. The next day, the two finally came together, as decreed by the Gods. The demons behind Ravana and monkeys behind Rama watched as the two skilled archers fought together, a struggle that has never been seen on Earth. The Gods were also watching for it was on it they depended their safety and freedom from Ravana. Ravana: Just so you know, prince, that I will win this war. With me in this chariot, and you on that solid ground, you can ever defeat me. (laughs) The gods watched this and thought that this was an unfair fight. So, Indra offered his chariot and weapons to Rama through Matali. Rama: As you can see, demon, I am favoured by the gods. Rama mounted the chariot, radiant as a god, for he was Vishnu though he did not know his true nature. (He took out a spear and lifted it.) Ravana: Now lie beside your brother, arrogant prince! This lance will end your life. (Rama blocked his attack.) Rama: What a hero you are, O wicked wretch, to carry off a woman after luring her husband into a trick! What a noble deed was that! If I had been there, I would have sent you to join your brother. Luckily, you stand here before me. Today, you shall perish! (Rama becomes more angry and Ravana started to get dismayed. Ravana drops his bow and sank on the bench of his chariot.)

Rama let himself filled with new power as he saw the chariot of Ravana down upon him, its black horses at full gallop. He stretched the bow of Indra into the shape of the crescent moon as his skilful driver urged the horses forward and passed Ravanas chariot, covering it with dust. The fearful duel began and still neither prevailed. But Rama thought, I shall win. And Ravana said to himself, I shall die. When it seemed as if every weapon has been exhausted he thought why these weapons who had killed a lot of strong enemies wouldnt work on Ravana. Matali, the charioteer divined his thought and said Matali: Have you forgotten the most powerful of all, O lord of men? Use Brahmas shaft upon for his hour of doom has come. (Rama gets the bow. Basta ka nang mu-fire siya ug arrow and then maigo si Brahma.) The great fiend, scourge of the three worlds, fell from his chariot and earth shook with his fall. (Vibishana came and stood beside Rama. He looks at his brothers body. He began to lament with tears) Rama: No one should mourn a warrior slain in battle. He had been courageous and fell without yielding. A Kshatriyas death. Now with all honor, perform his funeral rites. Vibishana: How could I when he had done things that had violated what was right? Failing to fulfil vows, being cruel and ruthless, and stealing wives of others. He deserves no honor. Rama: Death ends all enmity. He was brave yet wicked. We have accomplished our purpose. He is no more an enemy. It is right for me as well as for you to perform his funeral rights, for he is you brother and therefore mine.
