PROFILE:
I am a vibrant and charismatic individual with a professional attitude and a passion for the performing arts. I recently graduated from Brunel University where I studied Modern Drama; University has helped me to develop self discipline and has provided me with excellent teamwork and collaboration skills enabling me to work effectively with others to meet objectives and contribute to the planning and co-ordination of a groups work. I have excellent applied creative and imaginative skills; my personal interests include filming and editing for video, sound editing, web design and multimedia/digital performance. I have experience of writing & devising, directing and acting for live performances which involve a heavy amount of technical support, as well as facilitating and directing small technical teams. Most of my own creative work involves multimedia and digital performance and I have recently been moving towards using other mediums in performance such as shadow, light and puppetry. I have a passion for working with young people, particularly young offenders and disadvantaged youths; I feel that creative expression and the performing arts play a vital role in the personal development of young people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. I have a highly professional and flexible working ethic and the ability to adapt to a variety of working environments. I am currently seeking fulltime employment in an exciting environment in which I can utilise both my technical skills and creative talent, learn new skills and take on new challenges.

Kafkas Wound: A Digital Literary Essay (By Will Self)

Puppeteer/Video Editor

Aug 2012

Kafkas Wound is a collaborative online essay which utilises various digital media to support the text, which are incorporated as footnotes. I had the privilege of being involved in the making of a short film interpretation of The Country Doctor, which was heavily influenced by the work of Czech film-maker Jan Svankmajer and tells the story through several different mediums such as flash animation, stop-motionanimation, puppetry, shadow puppetry and live actors. This project helped me to develop my technical filming and editing skills, gain experience of working on a collaborative project of a large scale and networking with other academics, professionals and artists in the industry.

My Dissertation performance was a 30min adaptation of Hunter S. Thompsons popular novel and film Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas; we transposed the story into Britain in the New Labour era, spanning the early 2000s. This was a satirical dark comedy, tempered with a dry, British wit and strong political overtones. In order to capture the authenticity of the film version, we used various multimedia such as soundscape, voiceover, video projection and lighting effects. I created a series of video montages to frame the scenes and demonstrate the lineage. My role as technical director was to gather, synthesise and create the multimedia used and recruit and train a technical team to operate the lighting, sound and projection equipment for the live performance. This show was a great success and we hope to develop the script and take this further. Throughout this project I gained experience of putting visualised ideas into practice, working as part of a team and applying individual skills to achieve a result. Sensiful is a multimedia installation performance which I began devising in my 2nd year at University. This is an experimental and highly visceral performance which relies heavily on the audience becoming immersed in the mis en scene. The performance analyses the effects colours can have on the spectators interpretation of the work through a variety of different media such as soundscape, video projection, lighting and postmodern dance/contemporary movement. I worked on this project solo and was responsible for gathering and synthesising information, creating the multimedia for performance, devising the live movement and recruiting a technical team to operate the technical equipment for the performance. This project provided me with practical experience of writing and devising my own performances and utilising my own contacts in order to achieve a result. This project also helped me to develop my own professional interests and creative style.

As help desk operator on the night shifts, my duties involve answering calls from various wards and taking in requests such as snack box orders, routine & terminal cleans, patient transfers, specimens and more. During the night shifts I operate the help desk solo and am responsible for jobs coming in from the entire hospital and managing a small team of night porters and domestic staff. This role has helped me to build on organisation skills, strength of character, working under pressure and decision making. Often if it is busy or there is an issue, I am the first point of call, and therefore have to be able to resolve issues and conflicts quickly and effectively and liaise between various departments. I played the lead role in an independent horror movie, filmed in March 2012 and premiered at Uxbridge Odeon in May 2012. The story is of a young mother living in isolation who is haunted by a memory too horrific to be masked in denial. This performance involved several emotionally charged scenes, including a graveyard scene, which required emotion memory and method acting skills. From this role I gained valuable experience of working on a film set and with a professional camera and sound crew, this helped me to further develop my own technical skills and make valuable new contacts. Pendley Theatre Co.s winter production of California Suite relied heavily on technical support due to the directors decision to include video

projection between scene changes. My role as technical director was to create seven video montages that set the mood for the following scenes and fade these into the still back-projection images. To do this I worked closely with the director, collecting archived video footage and images; I then created the sequences as well as a patch to run the images live. During the performance I had to collaborate with the sound technician and stage manager to ensure the images ran smoothly with the audio. This role provided me with excellent experience of working as part of a professional technical team and demonstrated my ability to assist the working process effectively. I facilitated a series of applied drama workshop exercises with a group of young people with behaviour problems at the Milton-Keynes Pupil Referral Unit. I used various group games and exercises that worked on life skills such as empathy, decision making, team work, communication, listening, confidence and self control. This was a great success and all the students responded and engaged with the tasks and exercises set; I have been asked to return in January 2013 to facilitate a multimedia project. This role required a keen observation of behaviours and

mannerisms and recognising the attitudes or beliefs of other group members. I was able to demonstrate a strong sense of leadership to help resolve conflicts, recognise the strengths of group members and encourage them to contribute. Following on from this project I have been networking with a number of similar organisations in the Buckinghamshire area and have had a lot of interest regarding similar workshops. Business Support
JUNE 2008 SEPT 2008 This role helped me to develop a professional attitude and self-discipline when working with difficult circumstances. Referral & Assessment are a Public Sector organisation which deals with vulnerable children; as part of the Business Support team my duties included taking in new referrals via email, fax, post, and telephone, creating new case files, typing up case notes and inputting data on the Integrated Childrens System. This role provided me with experience of organising meetings and home visits and professional insight into child protection, data protection and safeguarding laws. The Finance Deputy Team are a Public Sector organisation which deals with vulnerable adults finances. My duties as office administrator included receiving cheques on behalf of clients via post and paying them into the main office bank account, then transferring the money into individual clients accounts. I also made payments on the behalf of clients and was responsible for creating inventories, inputting data, as well as other general office duties. This role provided me with valuable organisation skills, the ability to manage my own workload with minimal supervision, awareness of equal opportunities, experience of working with vulnerable adults and knowledge of financial management systems. This role helped me to develop confidence and professional networking skills. My main duties here were to assist the manager in rearranging her office and establishing a new filing system ready for an office change over. This included destroying sensitive information and creating a new filing system, as well as general filing, photocopying, data input, covering phone calls for lunch breaks and meetings and other general office duties. This was a temporary contract. This role provided me with knowledge of the Youth Justice System and valuable experience of working in a busy office environment alongside a variety colleagues with different roles and job descriptions from various Social and Public Sector organisations.
