Aims The Student Council aims to:1.

Represent the interests of the student body in student government affairs by acting as liaison between the student body and the college administration. 2. Empower the voices of students to ensure the student body feels free to express their ideas, opinions and suggestions. 3. Foster unity within the student body by encouraging the active involvement of students in their college lives. 4. Raise awareness and increase knowledge among the students, faculty, and the surrounding community about the services offered by the Student Council. Functions The functions of the Student Council are as follows:1. Collect, evaluate, and address student concerns and suggestions relating to their experience at Taylors College by holding formal discussions. 2. Communicate the opinions of the student body to the school administration on any subject that concerns students and on which the Council wishes to be consulted. 3. Support events, groups, and individuals who are benefiting the Taylors College community. 4. Keep students informed as to college initiatives as deemed necessary or appropriate by the college administration. 5. Accomplish initiatives pertaining to the goals of the college that are of the interest of the student body. 6. Organise annual events as trusted by the college administration and other activities that will benefit the student body.

Role of Each Student Council Main Committee Member President:1. Presides over all general Student Council meetings and formal discussions with the student body. 2. Meets regularly with the Council Advisor to communicate Council business. 3. Prepares a written agenda for each Council meeting prior to the scheduled meeting. 4. Is responsible for representing the Council and its views to the public. 5. Is responsible to see that the Council gets underway promptly and runs smoothly and efficiently. 6. Is responsible for seeing that Council meetings have positive and business-like tone, and that full discussions and airing of points of views are encouraged. 7. Calls special meetings when deemed necessary. Vice President:1. Assists in the performance of all duties of the President. 2. Assumes full responsibility of the duties of the President in his absence or disability. 3. Represents the Council and its views to the public and college community in the absence of the President. Treasurer:1. Is responsible for accurate accounting of all Council funds. 2. Is responsible for fund-raising activities and their organization. 3. Is responsible for the collecting of money at any Council functions. 4. Makes a report of the finances at Council meetings when necessary. Secretary:1. Takes and distributes minutes of each meeting on e-mail. 2. Organises schedules and book meeting rooms for general Council meetings. 3. Prepares a written agenda for each meeting in the absence of the President and his vices. 4. Is responsible for handling the Councils correspondence when necessary and maintaining records of it. 5. Is responsible for maintaining a complete file of minutes. 6. Is responsible for maintaining a complete attendance record of all Council members during meetings. 7. Is responsible for maintaining a complete and updated record of all Council members contact information and details. Events Director:1. Acts as a valuable advisor including in the election of a suitable Organising Chairperson for all Council events. 2. Acts as Organising Chairperson for the annual Senior Prom. 3. Oversees the smooth operation of all Council events. 4. Works closely with the Treasurer in fund-raising activities. Publicity Director:1. Is responsible for the publicity of all Council events including producing and posting posters or other forms of media within the college premises or on the internet. 2. Provides technical expertise and IT skills for the successful organisation of Council events. 3. Is responsible in gathering competent members of the Sub-Committee to assist himself in his duties.

Role of Each Student Council Sub-Committee Member 1. Assists any of the Main Committee Members in performing their duties when necessary. 2. Acts as a vital constituent of the Organising Committees of all Council events. 3. Is eligible for the post of Organising Chairperson for all Council events with the exception of Senior Prom. Role of The Organising Chairperson 1. Oversees the successful organisation of Council events. 2. Is responsible for the formation of a competent Organising Committee to successfully organise Council events. 3. Seeks the advice and approval of the Council Advisor, President, Vice President and Events Director throughout his duty. 4. Is responsible for handling the Councils correspondence pertaining to the related Council event including the preparation of proposals while working closely with the Secretary. 5. Works closely with the Treasurer regarding finances and to ensure a complete accounting record for the related event. 6. Works closely with the Publicity Director with regards to event publicity. 7. Is responsible for keeping a complete record of all data relevant to the event for the Secretarys perusal when producing a complete report of the event.
