INTRODUCTION
Parameter fine tuning of A_PBGT_HO is performed in Khobar urban area. The recommended change of the
parametric value from 8 to 10 is implemented on trial basis on all the cells of BSC KHB14. Following is the
benchmark report of KPIs and field measurements on the selected cluster. Due to the sites migration, the
below mentioned benchmark is compiled on the cluster/cell zone KPIs rather than on BSC level KPIs.

TRIAL AREA
The BSC selected for the purpose of this trial is E355_KHB14. The parameter change implemented on all
cells of the BSC.

RESULTS
Call Drop Rate:
Call Drop Rate shown significant improvement from 0.35% to 0.33%.

Call Drop Rate (Causes):

5% improvement is observed in CDR Radio rate from an average value of 0.20% to 0.19%. CDR HO rate is
also improved from 0.15% to 0.14%.

HO per Call:
HO per call is reduced from 2.26 to 2.03 as expected from the trial implementation which increases the
PBGT HO window from 8 to 10.

Traffic is in stable trend.

Handover success rate remains stable in the cluster.

Handover distribution:
Handover distribution of Better cell HOs remains stable around 39% while Quality HOs shows 3.19%
increase from 5.06% to 5.23% which is within acceptable limits as PGBT HO window is increased in the trial.

Drive test Analysis:

DL Rxqual improvement is observed in drive test from an avg Rxqual of 1.4% to 0.9%.

SQI improvement is also observed from an average SQI of 25.5 to 27.4.

CONCLUSION

Improvement is observed in DCR & HO per call as targeted in the trial.

Tuning A_PBGT_HO value from 8 to 10 results in better PBGT handover decisions resulting in
reduced possibility of Call drop due to HOs or radio drop after HOs. This should also result in
improved user perception due to reduced number of unnecessary handovers.
Improvement is also observed in drive test measurements.

WAY FORWARD

Generalization of the parameter can be done in the BSCs where increased HO per call contributes in
high call drop rate.
