into food safety systems for Canadas sheep and goat sectors. The Canadian National Goat Federation is getting just over 202 thousand of that. Its to develop a national goat on-farm food safety system.
Myrna Coombs of the Canadian National Goat Federation says theyre asking goat producers to say what theyre doing in terms of management practices then demonstrate it through an audit process. 86 thousand 5 hundred dollars goes to the Canadian Sheep Federation to update that sectors food safety system. Andrew Gordanier of the Canadian Sheep Federation says this process should send a clear message to consumers that they can count on Canadian quality lamb. Both the sheep and goat systems will also undergo a full review by the Canadian Food Inspection Agencys On-Farm Food Safety Recognition program. That funding announcement was made on the Listowel-area farm of Brent Royce yesterday afternoon.
