MOTHERBOARD: THE LARGE CIRCUIT BOARD TO WHICH ALL OTHER PARTS ARE CONNECTED.

CMOS Battery Slot- is a slot on the motherboard intended to hold the CMOS battery.
-A complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) is a type of integrated circuit technology. The term is often used to refer to a battery-powered chip found in many personal computers that holds some basic information, including the date and time and system configuration settings, needed by the basic input/output system (BIOS) to start the computer. This name is somewhat misleading, however, as most modern computers no longer use CMOS chips for this function, but instead depend on other forms of non-volatile memory. CMOS chips are still found in many other electronic devices, including digital cameras.

AGP Slot - AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) expansion slot standard was introduced when video cards needed more bandwidth for performance than was provided by PCI. As suggested by the title, AGP slots are used for video cards. However, AGP has been largely phased out in favour of the PCI Express expansion slot standard. Unlike AGP, PCI Express provides higher bandwidth for other types of expansion cards that could use it, such as some newer, high-performance sound and network cards.is one of the types of video card available. Nowadays, almost every CPU has one AGP card slot. AGP cards are automatically detected as in-built video cards when connected to AGP slot of system. They provide better resolution than onboard/integrated video. Serial port- is an interface that allows computer to share data with another device.

LAN Port - Alternatively referred to as an Ethernet port, network connection, and network port, the LAN port is a port connection that allows a computer to connect to a network using a wired connection.
USB(Universal Serial Bus) Ports - is a device system designed for the accessories of the computer system, it allows you to hot swap any devices that is designed for the port. Some of these devices include: Keyboard, Mouse, Game Controllers, Lights, Fans and a slew of other things.

Parallel Port- is an interface allowing a personal computer (PC) to transmit or receive data down multiple bundled cables to a peripheral device such as a printer. PCI Slot - to provide a medium to expand the capabilities of the PC, by adding like modems cards, audio cards, ethernet cards. North bridge - controls pci;pci express, agp, and other cards, and Southbridge controls the drives and onboard devices. Audio - is the sound system that comes with or can be added to a computer. An audio card contains a special built-in processor and memory for processing audio files and sending them to speakers in the computer. An Audio file is a record of captured sound that can be played back. Sound is a sequence of naturallyanalog signals that are converted to digital signals by the audio card, using a microchip called an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). When sound is played, the digital signals are sent to the speakers where they are converted back to analog signals that generate varied sound.

IDE(Integrated Drive Electronics) Connector - it is a standard type of connection for storage devices in a PC. Generally, it refers to the types of cables and ports used to connect some hard drives andoptical drives to each other and to the motherboard. DDR Memory Slot - Basically, it is a type of Random Access Memory (RAM) slot, that supports Double Data Rate (DDR) RAM. DDR RAM is said to be twice as fast as Synchronous Dynamic (SD) RAM. RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY - CHIP ASSEMBLIES THAT STORE DATA FOR VERY QUICK RECALL. THE MAIN MEMORY IN A COMPUTER REQUIRES CONSTANT POWER TO BE ABLE TO HOLD DATA. EVERY TASK PERFORMED BY A COMPUTER REQUIRES THE PROGRAM AND DATA TO BE LOADED INTO MEMORY.

CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT: THE CHIP THAT PERFORMS ALL OF THE CALCULATIONS NECESSARY FOR THE COMPUTER TO DO ITS JOB.

CPU Socket -it is used for connecting CPU with a phone line or a lan cable so that ur PC comes into network.

EXPANSION SLOTS - SLOT CONNECTED S ON THE MOTHERBOARD FOR ATTACHING VARIOUS COMPONENTS. MOTHERBOARDS TYPICALLY HAVE SEVERAL EXPANSION SLOTS.

HARDDRIVE - A DEVICE THAT STORES DATA ON PERMANENTLY ENCLOSED MAGNETIC DISKS. THE VAST MAJORITY OF COMPUTERS HAVE AT LEAST ONE HARD DRIVE. DATA STORED ON A HARD DRIVE REMAINS AFTER THE POWER IS DISCONNECTED. THE OS, ALONG WITH PROGRAMS AND DATA, ARE ALMOST ALWAYS STORED ON A HARD DRIVE.

OPTICAL DRIVES - INCLUDING CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM AND VARIOUS WRITABLE DVD DRIVES, OPTICAL DRIVES ARE DEVICES THAT READ AND WRITE DATA FROM OR ONTO DISCS USING LASER BEAMS.

CD and DVD drives

Nearly all computers today come equipped with a CD or DVD drive, usually located on the front of the system unit. CD drives use lasers to read (retrieve) data from a CD, and many CD drives can also write (record) data onto CDs. If you have a recordable disk drive, you can store copies of your files on blank CDs. You can also use a CD drive to play music CDs on your computer.

CD-ROM & DVD-ROM - They are disc drives which read Compact Discs (CDs). They are versatile and transportable and can be used to perform various tasks such as reading data from the computer and listening to audio. cd rom is a device on which information can be strored and shared throught the use of a cd rom drive.

PORTS: CONNECTORS, USUALLY ON THE BACK OF THE COMPUTER, TO WHICH PERIPHERAL DEVICES CAN BE CONNECTED.

Mouse is a small device used to point to and select items on your computer screen. Keyboard is used mainly for typing text into your computer. keyboardis another input device for the computerit allow you to input text to type word documents

MONITOR- A DEVICE RESEMBLING A TELEVISION THAT DISPLAYS THE COMPUTERS VIDEO IMAGES.LCD (liquid crystal display) monitors

USB -Universal Serial Bus, is a device system designed for the accessories of the computer system, it allows you to hot swap any devices that is designed for the port. Some of these devices include: Keyboard, Mouse, Game Controllers, Lights, Fans and a slew of other things. Zip Drive- is a device that allow the fast and easy tranfer of data from a PC.

LOPPY DISK DRIVES- DEVICES THAT STORE DATA ON REMOVABLE MAGNETIC DISKS.

SOUND CARD: A DEVICE WHOSE PRIMARY FUNCTION IS TO ALLOW A COMPUTER TO PLAY AND RECORD SOUND. A SOUND CARD CAN EITHER BE A SEPARATE CARD THAT PLUGS INTO A EXPANSION SLOT OR A COMPONENT BUILT INTO THE MOTHERBOARD.

VIDEO CARD: A DEVICE WHOSE PRIMARY FUNCTION IS TO GENERATE A VIDEO SIGNAL TO BE SHOWN ON THE MONITOR. A VIDEO CARD CAN EITHER BE A SEPARATE CARD THAT PLUGS INTO A SLOT ON THE MOTHERBOARD OR A DEVICE BUILT INTO THE MOTHERBOARD.

NETWORK CARD: A DEVICE THAT CONNECTS THE COMPUTER TO THE NETWORK. A NETWORK IS A GROUP OF COMPUTERS CONNECTED TOGETHER SO THAT THEY CAN COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER. NETWORK CARDS EITHER COME AS A SEPARATE CARD OR ARE BUILT INTO THE MOTHERBOARD.Network Card NIC(Network Interface Card)-It basically allows your computer to connect to a network, using a method dependent on your network card. For example, a wireless network card would allow access to a network via a wireless connection, whereas an ethernet network card would allow access to a network via an ethernet connection.

COMPUTER CASE: THE CABINET THAT HOLDS THE MAIN COMPONENTS OF A COMPUTER.POWER SUPPLY: A BOX-SHAPED DEVICE THAT CONVERTS WALL-OUTLET AC POWER TO LOW VOLTAGE DC USED TO POWER THE DEVICES IN THE COMPUTER.

CPU fan is attached together with a heat sink on the mother board, CPU fan is used to prevent overheating of the processor on the motherboard.

Power supply is a hardware component that supplies power to an electrical device. It receives power from an electrical outlet and converts the current from AC (alternating current) to DC (direct current), which is what the computer requires. It also regulates the voltage to an adequate amount, which allows the computer to run smoothly without overheating. The power supply an integral part of any computer and must function correctly for the rest of the components to work. Every computer has a power supply to change the electricity from the wall outlet into electricity the computer can use. The capacity of a power supply is measured in watts. A typical computer requires 400 watts to operate. This isn't very much, when you consider that an average hair dryer uses three and a half times as much power.

AVR(Automatic Voltage Regulator) is designed to automatically maintain a constant voltage level. It regulates the sudden flow of electric current from AC supply to the PC. It may use an electromechanical mechanism, or passive or active electroniccomponents.

MODEM - A DEVICE THAT ALLOWS THE COMPUTER TO ACCESS A TELEPHONE LINE FOR THE PURPOSE OF FAXING, INTERNET ACCESS, DATA TRANSFER BETWEEN COMPUTERS OR OTHER TELEPHONERELATED USES.INTERNAL MODEMS PLUG INTO EXPANSION SLOTS,WHILE AN EXTERNAL MODEM CONNECTS TO A PORT ON THE COMPUTER.
