SUMMARY OF LEARNING OUTCOMES Upon the Completion of this module, the students/trainees will be able to: LO1. To acquire adequate vocabulary needed for technical education. The emphasis is on the use of English for communication and learning purposes. The student will use oral communication skills.

TO ACQUIRE ADEQUATE VOCABULARY NEEDED FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION. THE EMPHASIS IS ON THE USE OF ENGLISH FOR COMMUNICATION AND LEARNING PURPOSES.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA: 1. Schools and systems, about teaching strategies, resource allocations and curriculum; 2. Other educational institutions, employers and the community, about the achievements of students in general or of particular students. CONTENTS: 1. Students understand that the way language is used varies according to context. 2. Students understand that language has an important effect on the ways in which they view themselves and the world in which they live. 3. Students select from a repertoire of processes and strategies when listening, speaking, viewing, reading and writing by reflecting on their understanding of the way language works for a variety of purposes in a range of contexts.

Students will learn to use selected vocabulary and information to match their purpose to inform, to persuade, or to entertain.

Procedures in dealing with workplace accidents, fire and emergencies are followed in accordance with the organizations OHS policies. 3. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is correctly used in accordance with organizations OHS procedures and practices. 4. Procedures in providing appropriate assistance in the event of workplace emergencies are identified in line with the established organizational protocol.
