Benefits ... for the operator complementary function to the feature Calling Line Identication Presentation (CLIP) with additional marketing possibilities ... for the subscriber the calling subscriber remains anonymous

Description of the Feature

Using the feature Calling Line Identification Restriction (CLIR), calling subscribers can prevent their call data from being displayed to the called subscriber. Certain subscriber groups (e.g. police) can be given special authorization allowing them to ignore this restriction. Use and effect The following table shows whether the feature can be used by the calling or called subscriber and on which side of the connection the feature takes effect.
Calling subscriber CLIR use CLIR effect X --Called subscriber --X

Mode of operation
The feature Calling Line Identification Restriction (CLIR) prevents call data from being displayed to the called subscriber. The feature can be activated by the operator or the subscriber and remains active until it is deactivated. The following functions can be used to influence the display of call data to the called subscriber: CLIRREQ - to suppress the calling subscribers call data on request (CLIR on request), for the next call only CLIRSUSP - to suspend the suppression of the calling subscribers call data for the next call (CLIR suspension)

Interactions For interaction with other features, see Feature Interactions. Standards The feature is based on the following standards: ETS 300 093

Analog No call data available

Network node

or

CLIR active MDTOG

No call data available

Customer premises equipment ISDN No call data available

CLIR active

The CLIR information is transferred from the originating network node to the destination network node during call setup. Signaling with SS7 TUP or ISUP is possible. The destination network node then suppresses the display of the calling subscribers call data to the called subscriber. Capacity The percentages indicate the number of authorized subscribers for the feature within the network node and their simultaneous application.

Subscriber controlled input

The feature can be administrated and used by subscriber controlled input. The following table shows the input options for this feature:

Explanation of the input procedures The meaning of the pictograms and abbreviations is explained in the overview in the section on subscriber controlled input, as well as the differences in the procedure for pulse dialing. Activate DT (( ) IND Deactivate DT (( ) IND Interrogate state DT (( ) IND Feature use Analog CLIRREQ/CLIRSUSP for the next connection DT SC DN-B A-B Start Directory number Connection PIN) SC optional SC PIN) optional SC PIN) optional

An ISDN subscriber can also request one-off usage of CLIR by setting the display indicator of the calling subscribers directory number to restricted. In the case of the feature option CLIRSUSP the calling ISDN subscriber can suspend the CLIR function for the next call, thus permitting the display of the call data to the called subscriber. For one-off suspension of CLIR per call (CLIRSUSP, in case of ISDN), the display indicator for the called subscribers directory number is set to allowed. In this case, the calling subscribers directory number is displayed if the called subscriber has authorization for the feature CLIP. Otherwise, the display indicator for the calling subscribers directory number is set to restricted. Additional possibilities for feature control
