CHRIST
THE
KING
For many weeks now, we have been celebrating the appearance of the divine presence in human form. As a child, he came to Mary and Joseph, was seen by the shepherds, and then by some wandering magi from the East. Today we celebrate another showing, later in time, to a group gathered at the Jordan River. John hesitated to baptize Jesus, whom he recognized as one mightier than I. But he did as Jesus asked, and the Holy Spirit descended and heavens voice spoke to Jesus, You are my beloved Son. Jesus was beginning his public life of teaching and service. Soon he would start calling others to join him. Peter was one of the first to be called by Jesus. In todays second reading, he announces the heart of the message, peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. Peter was called, and you and I are called to spread that message and to serve Gods word. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.

A Sharing with each other faith experience. topics and readings and reflections are most inspiring. The Learning the tremendous insights my fellow participants have. They were always able to give me insight I would never have thought of on my own. Being able to share my feelings and grow from other peoples feelings. express, learn and to make friends to be a part of this wonderful learning experience. To personal sharing. The Better understanding of the Mass and scriptures. Learning to pray Lectio Divina. Sharing our own experiences with the celebration of the Eucharist/ relating the Eucharist with the bible got to associate with others, discuss or express what had been bothering you about some of the liturgy. You have a deeper love for Christ. To learned and understand marks about the masses especially the parts of the mass from beginning to end. And I how the priest conduct the Mass with the participation of all people especially when he did the Eucharistic preparation and blessing with the power of the Holy Spirit-bread will be changed to Jesus body and his blood Witnessing the love of God our church and Holy Scripture by our leaders. Their commitment to living their faith and their love of the Catholic church and Holy Mass. Jesus in the Eucharist was and is beautiful and uplifting. I gained a greater understanding about the masses more especially the prayer of the priest, the readings and the gospels. I really thank God for his wonderful love by giving his only son to cleanse us of our sin.
SAVE THE DATE FOR CHRIST THE KINGS ANNUAL ST. JOSEPH TABLE COMING MARCH 10
Mark your calendars for Christ the Kings annual St. Joseph Table to be held Sunday, March 10 at 1 oclock in the Early Learning Academys Gymnasium. This parish-wide, family-oriented, community event is always loads of fun and is a wonderful opportunity to share food and companionship with family and friends. If you would like to join the St. Joseph Table Committee, please give Mary Ellen Clish, St. Joseph Table Chairman, a call at 1-630 -495-1339 or e-mail Mary Ellen at mimiclish48@sbcglobal.net. Volunteers are always needed and more than welcome. We would like to share a short history of the St. Joseph Table for those who are unfamiliar with or new to the event. Following is that brief description. The table is a tradition of simple, usually meatless dishes, prepared and shared with neighbors and friends. Those attending offer a free-will donation and all the proceeds are given to the poor or a charitable organization. Sicilian/Italian families started this tradition. History tells us they prayed to St. Joseph to end a famine caused by draught. When their prayers were answered and it rained, the people showed thanks to St. Joseph by sharing their precious food with the poor. The menu typically included pasta, fish, eggs/omelets, bread and vegetables. The reason for this meatless tradition is believed to be the fact that the feast day falls during the Lenten season. There are special breads baked in crosses and other Christian shapes, which are displayed on the main table in the center of the celebration. The main table, usually in the shape of a cross or three-tier (to signify the Trinity), is decorated with flowers, a sample of each food item, candles and an image of St. Joseph. It is then blessed on the day of the event. There will be more information forthcoming in future bulletins. The St. Josephs Day Committee

Year of Faith 2012-2013 THE 2013 CATHOLIC MINISTRIES ANNUAL APPEAL IS UNDERWAY THE LORD SUSTAINS HIS PEOPLE
Page 9
The 2013 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal begins with a mailing that many of our parishioners have received or will soon receive. This is a mailing from Bishop Conlon asking for a pledge to the 2013 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal. The Appeal not only funds many of the operations of the diocese, it funds services that are of great help to the ministries here in our parish. This year, the theme of the Appeal is The Lord Sustains His People. The Lord sustains each of us in many ways. His life, death and resurrection were all gifts to each of us. He gives us all that we have. He gave us our Church. That Church, through our parish, our diocese, and throughout the world offers us not only spiritual but many other forms of sustenance. God never forgets us. Even when we believe that our successes are self-made, it is His love that sustains each of us. He is always giving to us. His grace is always there for us. One way that we can show our gratitude is by offering our generous financial support to our parish and to our diocese and to the Church throughout the world. The gifts we give enable ministries, education, and services that touch thousands of lives. Our parish goal is $__56,642 _. With your support, we can reach and exceed this goal. Please answer Bishop Conlons request and make a generous pledge. All pledges can be paid in 10 monthly installments. Thank you in advance for your support. Football Mania Winner!
Thank you to all those that purchased Football Mania tickets this fall. Congratulations to Daniel Sherman who won $400 on the 17 week of the game series. Thank you to everyone that supported the Football Mania program this past fall. We had 8 winning tickets that were not purchased in our packet of tickets. Next fall the lucky winner could be you!
