EN Fiii Satului Vranesti (The Descendents of Vranesti Village) is an NGO founded in 2009 in Vranesti village in the county of Arges. The name of the region is given by the river Arge which has many lakes surrounded by a mixture of high cliffs, hills covered by old forests and rich fields at the foot of the Carpathians Mountains. There are two old cities in the region, Cimpulung and Curtea de Arges, which once used to be capital cities. The current capital of the region is Pitesti, quite a big industrial town but also a town of tulips, clean and quiet with hospitable people. Vranesti, is a village at about 10 km from Pitesti, which lies between hills and one of the lakes on the river Arges, it has about 10 000 inhabitants and was attested in 1334. The general aim of our organization is education and active participation of all the people in the life of the community through knowledge and preservation of traditions, history and culture; not only local but national and international as well. Our credo is that through learning and sharing about other peoples life, traditions and history, we can improve our own lives. The members of our organisation are mainly teachers (from local schools) and our projects view, in general, collaborative work with the institutions providing education directly (school, library, museum) and the representatives from the local authorities in our region.
