Abo ut Me

Coming from a small northern com munity, The Pas, Manitoba, and growing up with a large family has given me life experience that I will cherish forever. I am the 4th ch ild out of my family of 10, so being a role model was built into m y lifestyle growing up. Not only have I cared for and helped raise m y younger siblings, I have also learned a lot about empathy thanks in a large part to my younger brother who was born with Down Sy ndrome.

My Philosop hy on Teachin g As a dedicated and creative educat ion student, I am committed to providing a comprehensive, deve lopmental and individualized educational environment. This will address the academic, social, cultural, and developmental needs of students, their families, and the community. I am enthusiastic, inventive and strive to create a su pp or ti ve at m os ph er e bu il t on m ut ua l re sp ec t an d op en communication. I want my classroo m to be welcoming, and for students to feel like they are able to speak openly with me about problems in school, or in their ho me. My personal goals in my classroom are to promote grow th and self-respect among adolescents by cultivating an apprec iation of diversity amongst my students and creating confidence in learners by establishing an atmosphere of respect. I also hope to foster further education by incorporating many learning styles , teaching methods, and varied assessment strategies in my classroo m. I will lead by example as I strive to be a lifelong learner and co ntinue my efforts to support the community and school system.
