Halu Ser, di ko kabalo unsaon, basta, basaha lang.hehehe A little bit of history.

Evangelical Christian Churches here in Bohol started in (probably) 1982. Christians during that time were so excited in the ministry that even storms and huge waves cant stop them (they say) from going to islands and country sides to share the gospel. But as time passed by, they become weaker that most of them can do is only going to church every Sunday and do their things on remaining days. So, its a sad thing. And they have kids, grown-ups now, who are following their steps. Like, yes, literally. But not the waves and storms story. These kids go to church too, every Sunday, warming the benches. So, with these gamay nga facts, I found some problems in our youths: 1. They are too fed up with godly things without having them know the cost of doing these. -they were motivated to memorize verses for candies. -they thought they become Christians when they say the sinners prayer. 2. They were most of the time spoon-fed instead of having them feed themselves with the served food. Lacking thinking ability -with that, most of them cant explain what Christianity is. Wonder if they understood and experienced it or not. 3. They are/become sunod-sunoran -They go to church because their parents go -They do a thing because pastor tells them to do so, not because the Bible commanded it. - They cant do a thing out of commitment I might havent mentioned all the problems, but the points above may be some of the reasons why most of the youth are not serving in the ministry esp. in our churches here in Bohol. And it may seem that some of the points listed above gossips things about the people handling the youth, but WE CANT CHANGE IT. Its already given. I think all we can do is MAKE A CHANGE esp. in our youth. We, (ako and some counsellors), have been meeting and planned about an activity; a 4 day youth retreat with the theme Introspection: Am I a Christian?. We talked about things that most of our youth dont understand and summed it up into four points/topics. Most of them dont understand WHY ARE THEY CHRISTIANS, WHY ARE THEY IN THE CHURCH, WHY ARE THEY EXPECTED TO LIVE A HOLY LIFE, and WHY ARE THEY EXPECTED TO SERVE AND SHARE. And since there are four days in that retreat, we decided to simply focus one topic a day. I intentionally suggested it due to a personal sentiment of our previous camps when we had so many topics in one day which were disseminated mostly through preaching/lectures. (kung ang tao palabi-an ug pakaon, mag-suka-suka.wahehehehe) sugot man pud sila sa akong suggestion.heheh

Strategy is somewhat like phil island survivors or PBB (pero gamay lang, di jud kaayu). We will give them tasks/activities that will take place for 4 to 5 hours, and that communicates that days topic to them. The lecturer is given two hours to do his /her things which are to teach (exposition), clarify and/or wrap the topic up, and do a challenge whenever necessary. That simple. The first two topics are yours. Date is april 15-20, 16-17 are yours. Anyway, of course Im an ivcf-trained kid, so we have spiritual retreats, Quiet times, small groups and large groups etc. Now, what na?hehehehehehehe^_^ Bitaw, I really need IVCF minds and hearts to do this with me. Hoping for your kind participation. ^_^ Ayaw lang ka-ulaw, kauban mi Jovelen Gaco. Remember? Imu student sa etcp. Isa xa sa mga counsellors. And hopefully maka-apil pud unta si fritchie Bayron. p.s. to follow na ang retreat blueprint. ^_^ hasta ang portrait.heheheh^_^
