Subject: Invitation for participation in Pak-China Business Forum 2013 Dear This is my profound privilege to write to you about the Pak-China Business Forum (PCBF), which was introduced last year and established by the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) as an academia driven model of business cooperation. The event includes an industrial exhibition of products, processes, and technological ideas and various thematic workshops. Prominent business houses, scholars/experts from different walks of life and general public participate in this Forum. The total attendance at the event last year was approximately 50,000. Given the overwhelming response from all stakeholders, the next PCBF is scheduled to be held at Pak-China Friendship Center from 23-26 March, 2013. The exhibition will be open to general public. In order to make PCBF more successful, we seek the participation of your organization. In order to seek your interest, we can offer a display stall of 3x3 meter at Rs.10,000 for the whole event. Please confirm your registration by 07 February, 2013. In order to facilitate your organization, kindly also nominate a focal person to liaison with PCBF Secretariat. Exhibition at Pak-China Business Forum
Q. What are the objectives of the Pak-China Business Forum 2013 (PCBF)? A. The objectives of the Pak-China Business Forum 2013 are:
To provide a platform for interaction between Chinese and Pakistani entrepreneurs and businessmen. To provide opportunities for technology transfer. To explore possibilities of attracting FDI from China. To provide business opportunities for Pakistani entrepreneurs.

Q. What activities will be performed during Pak-China Business Forum 2013? A. A four days exhibition will be conducted where industrial and academic projects will be displayed. On parallel, different thematic workshop will be organized on the following thematic areas: 1. New Energy Technologies 2. Renewable Energy Technologies 3. Information & Communication Technologies 4. Water Conservation, Purification & Sanitation 5. Biomedical Materials 6. General Q. What are the venue and the dates of the Pak-China Business Forum? A. The Pak-China Business Forum is being held at Pak-China Friendship Centre, Shakarparian, Islamabad on 23rd 26th March, 2013. Q. Will it be open to general public? A. Yes, the exhibition at PCBF will be open to public from 9am to 5pm from 23rd 26th March, 2013. Q. What is the stall size at the exhibition? A. Each stall is 3*3 meter or 10*10 feet. However, it can be extended by adding more stalls. Q. What is the price charged for each stall? A. Each stall will be charged at Rs. 10,000. Q. What kind of product/project information is required to be sent to the management of PCBF for booking of the stalls? A. A brief description of the company/product/project is required to reach PCBF Secretariat by 7 February, 2013 along with stall registration form.

Q. Are there any specific requirements about the branding of the stalls? A. The participants are autonomous about the branding inside the stall. However, any activity should not interfere with activities of other participants. Q. When can be the stalls set up? A. The stalls set up will start on 22nd March, 2013. Q. How many Project/Products can be displayed / presented during the exhibition? A. There is no limit on number of projects/products to be displayed. However, the maximum no. of stalls is limited to four per Company / University / R&D organization. Q. What type of projects/products can be displayed at the exhibition? A. Projects/Products made by Pakistani/Chinese Industry or Academia may be displayed at PCBF exhibition. Q. Is there any time frame of Project/Product invention? A. The products/projects invented in recent years (2010-2012) are preferred; however, projects/products invented earlier than the said period can also be displayed. The projects/products will be scrutinized by the Committee. Q. How to register for stalls at the exhibition? A. For registration of stalls, the registration form duly filled and signed along with the demand draft payable to COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Principal Seat, Islamabad should be sent to:

Exhibition Guidelines PAK-China Business Forum 2012


1. 2. 3. 4. The stall size is 10*10 feet (3*3 meter). The rent for one stall is Rs. 10,000. The stalls will be booked on 1st come 1st served basis. More than one stall can be acquired, depending upon the needs and requirements of the organization. 5. Priority will be given to companies falling within the given thematic areas of the forum, however, companies falling in general category are also encouraged to participate. 6. 2 chairs, a table and a name plate will be provided per stall. 7. Electric outlet will be provided, if required.

Event Name Period Venue Year Pak-China Business Forum 2012 15-18 April Timings 10 AM to 06 PM Pak-China Friendship Center, Islamabad, Pakistan 2012 The Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) is an inter-governmental organization, with its Headquarters in Islamabad, Pakistan. COMSATS, currently, has a membership of 21 countries, spread across three continents, i.e. Asia, Africa and Latin America. A group of 17 science and technology organizations in different developing countries are also affiliated with COMSATS as its Network of Centers of Excellence. COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) started its journey in 1998, and established its first campus at Islamabad in April 1998. In August 2000, in recognition of CIIT's achievements, the Federal Government granted it the status of a Degree Awarding Institute (DAI) through promulgation of its charter. The CIIT, besides its principal campus at Islamabad, has six other fully functional campuses at Lahore, Abbottabad, Wah, Attock, Sahiwal and Vehari, while six more campuses at Gujrat, Kotli, Karachi, Larkana, Quetta, and Peshawar are in the works. The CIIT is also exploring opportunity for opening an overseas campus in the Gulf region. COMSATS-IIT introduced an academia driven model of Business Cooperation by establishing Pak-China Business Forum to promote academia-industry collaboration in business and economic sector for mutual benefit of both the countries. Major Chinese and Pakistani companies, small and medium enterprises, entrepreneurs, universities, and research & development organizations attended the forum activities. The forum provided an opportunity for commercialization of products and processes of the participating organizations. The main themes of the forum were Renewable Energy Technologies, New Energy Technologies, Information & Communication Technologies, Water Conservation, Purification & Sanitation, Biomedical Materials and General category. The main features of the event included an exhibition of products by 84 local and Chinese companies. Workshops and sideline meetings with industrialists, academicians and Pakistani Business community were conducted for the promotion of business activity among the two countries. Many Chinese companies participated to promote Pak- China Business liaison.
