Sat oddi is on t he verge of subm ersion. The Kodasalli dam built down t he st ream of t he river is t he cause for t he
danger and in t urn deat h of t his beaut iful wat erfall.

Just aft er yellapur on t he Yellapur- Hubli highway you will find a board saying som et hing about eco- t ourism and
Sat oddi on t he left side j ust aft er t he forest check post . From Yellapur you will get buses which will t ake you t o a
place called Barballi. From here it is about 8km s walk.

Since t he nearest fueling point is Yellapur carry your food and t ent age. And you are not allowed t o st ay aft er 6pm
in t he forest .

To reach t o t he bot t om of t he wat erfall you have t o t ake deviat ion of about 10+ km s on t he way t o t he place
( t here is a place wit h 4 roads m eet ing at one place , t ake left ) t o walk upst ream t o reach t he wat erfall.
This height of t his wat er fall is around 650ft . On t he way t o t his wat erfall you will find nice lake called " Kavade
Kere" of about 60acres area.

This wat erfall is in a unique point of West ern Ghat s, on t he border of t hree t aluqs of Nort h Kanara
dist rict ( Sirsi, Yellapur, Ankola) . At about 45km s away from Sirsi. You can t ake a bus going t o
Jaddigadde. From t his Jaddigadde t he wat erfall is around 3+ km s dist ance. Though a m ot orable
road is available walking is a pleasant experience.The height of t he wat erfall is around 200ft . A
lit t le furt her away is a Ganesha t em ple in t he m iddle of t he river. This t em ple is on t he upst ream .
To go t o t his place you will have t o t ake t he deviat ion before you st art walking down t he valley
for t he wat erfall.

Forest Depart m ent has built a viewpoint a lit t le away from t he place, from t here you get a nice
view of t he wat erfall and t he valley. One has t o t ake t heir rat ion from Sirsi. There are t ea shops
at j addigadde and ot her places like Hulekal, Vanalli ( places en rout e.) .

One word of caut ion : don’t t ry t o get int o t he wat er near t he wat erfall. Many has already t ried

local nam e for t he river side bam boo which can be found in plent y here. and hoLe is KannaDa for a m edium sized
river.

This places is also quit e close t o one m ore wat er falls by nam e Unchalli Falls. And t he beNNe hoLe falls. The Sirsi-
Kum t a road is t he m ain road connect ing t o t he nearest places t o t hese places.

This wonderful wat erfall is around 20+ km s from Siddapur and 55+ km s from Sirsi, on Siddapur- Kum t a road. The way
t o get down t o t he river is t hrough a sm all creek which is dry in sum m er. And which will be full in rainy and wint er
seasons which m akes t he ent ry t o t he wat erfall and t he valley im possible.

The first st ep of t he wat erfall has an am phit heat er sort of set t ing where hundreds of people can sit and wat ch t he
glorious wat erfall and feel t he m ist rushing t owards t hem . On t he ot her side aft er a serious clim b down you will get t o
see t he ot her end of t he wat erfall. And t he last st ret ch of t his wat erfall can only be heard from here. I f you have a
heart for clim bing you can clim b down t o t he edge of t he rock t o see it part ially. This one is a wonderful one.

This could be a ideal t wo day spot .On t he way t o Kum t a from Siddapur aft er Kyadagi ( 1+ km s) you will get down at
iLim ane cross and t ake a walk for 5+ km s t o reach t he wat erfall. Do carry your rat ion and t ent age. This place can also
be reached by t rekking from t he Unchalli wat erfalls along t he st ream .

And god knows who called it burude, he m ust have been a brainy.

This is t he place where t he river Sharavat i falls from a height of 292m form ing a glorious wat erfall. The
river form s four different t racks which are nam ed ’Raj a’, ’Rani’, ’Roarer’ and ’Rocket ’ which are nam ed
apt ly by t he m aj est y t hey display.

This place can be reached from sa ga r ( 30+ km s) , sidda pu r ( 21km s) or h on n a v a r ( 60 km s) . When you
are com ing from Siddapura t ake a right t urn at a place called " Mavinagundi" which is few km s before
j og. ( You wont get t his place if you are com ing from sagar) . And t here are a few places where you can
st ay overnight . These places are run by KSTDC.

When t he wat er is less you can act ually walk down t o t he bot t om of t he wat er fall, but be careful, t hat
broken Beer bot t le m ight hurt you.

This wat erfall t hough sm all in size when com pared t o t he ot her wat erfalls of t he West ern Ghat s. But in beaut y t his
one as pret t y as ot hers. Best season for visit ing would be j ust aft er t he rainy season.

I t is bot h good and bad as t his wat erfall is easily accessible t hrough road. Good, t he road m akes t he visit safe and
fast . Bad news is t hat such easily accessible nice places are always crowded and crowded wit h " picnic going" crowd.
