MUSEUM DR. NIKOLA NEZLOBINSKI-STRUGA The idea of founding the museum that houses, maintains, and displays the museums collections originated from Dr. Nezlobinski whose name it bears today. Dr. Nezlobinski arrived in Struga on 27 August 1924, becoming the chief of the campaign against malaria, where he did research on parasites. Around 1925, he began to collect insects and to hunt birds and their chicks, which he stuffed and mounted. In 1928, Dr. Nezlobinski exhibited his collected material for the first time and the citizens of Struga expressed great interest in his scientific work and gave him all kinds of things to add to the collection.

Short Description

In 1938, Dr. Nezlobinski started an initiative for building a museum, which would be used solely for projects. The next year, again thanking the citizens for their help in this, the building was begun. After the World War II, the activities of the museum were renewed and today the museum houses some of the countrys rarest biological specimens. The museum also displays historical, archaeological, and ethnographic material, transferred to separate areas which contain around 4,000 pieces of different archaeological excavations, costumes, photographs and films, coin collections, and fine arts displays.
