Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, A belated Happy New Year to you all! It seems a long time since Christmas, but I have to mention Carols by Candlelight, in St. Nicholas Church. Wasnt it just wonderful! Thank you, Evelyn, Sharon, the choir, readers, decorators and all who participated, for giving Christmas its proper focus. With my being on holiday, and the absence of a full-time rector, we were unable to collate the information in time for Brigitte to produce a newsletter for January. Apologies, Brigitte, we will try to do better next time! If anyone has an item for the newsletter, please let me have it as soon as possible for inclusion in the next edition. The practice of preaching in Carlingford RC church was continued, when Father Brian McRaoise invited me to preach at the Saturday Mass, broadcast on LMFM on 20th January. I thank Father McRaoise for his kind invitation. This marked the beginning of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. I was pleased to have the support of a number of parishioners on that occasion and again, in a new ecumenical venture, in Jonesboro RC church on Sunday 27th Jan. The latter service was organized by a young law student, Ryan Morgan, with the full co-operation of the Jonesboro parish priest, Father Dermot Moloney. The Jonesboro choir was augmented by members of our own St. Nicholas choir: the singing was wonderful, thank you Evelyn and Sharon for organizing choir members to take part: it was a real community effort and again, thank you to all who turned out on such a chilly evening. Thank you also to the members of Jonesboro Church who provided a lovely tea, with a further valuable opportunity for fellowship. Once again, may I emphasise how vital it is for you to let me know of parishioners in hospital or ill at home. I dont mind being told several times, its preferable to neglecting someone. Every blessing to you all, Richard. Email: richwmoore@yahoo.ie Phone: 041 6851327
