Work Schedule: Mornings, afternoons, and evenings (depending on need).
Job Summary: Under direct supervision of the SU Operations Supervisor, and sometimes following additional instructions provided by the SU Event Services Supervisor, Student Building Supervisor, SU Event Supervisor or Night Operations Assistant, the Student Building Assistant works primarily on weeknights and weekends assisting with Event Services and Operations functions such as meeting space setups and strikes, client interaction, and maintaining cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the building. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provides customer service for guests of the SU building. 2. Assists with safety and security of the SU building and its patrons. 3. Assists with decisions that affect the operation and public image of the SU Corporation. 4. Assists with opening and closing the building, and monitors building usage. 5. Assists with enforcement of SU building policies and procedures, OSHA policies, and National Fire Protection and Life Safety issues. 6. Performs room set-ups. 7. Performs custodial tasks, which may include but may not be limited to cleaning restrooms and emptying trash, etc. 8. Assists with security control for dances, concerts, and other large events as necessary. 9. Assists with building emergencies and with building evacuations. 10. Reports on any building problems or interior or exterior damage. 11. Maintains a professional attitude and conduct at all times. 12. Performs additional job-related duties as necessary. Job Requirements: 1. Outgoing personality with strong customer service skills. 2. Good verbal communication skills, and a willingness to learn. 3. Initiative and demonstrated ability to make mature decisions and judgments. 4. Ability to follow directions and/or work with little supervision throughout a shift or project. 5. Must be assertive, with ability to enforce policies and procedures. 6. Highly responsible and willing to assist in or perform a wide variety of duties. 7. Willing and able to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weeknights and weekends. 8. Some strenuous physical work; ability to lift, push or pull objects weighing in excess of 50 lbs. 9. Ability to develop and maintain relationships within a highly diverse community. 1. Qualifications and Specifications: Experience in a customer service setting strongly preferred. 2. Current First Aid and CPR certifications, and Blood Borne Pathogen training. May acquire them during the first six months of employment (which can be accomplished through SU staff trainers).
