Why I Chose This Topic: ! I chose my topic of the Wright Brothers because it is a topic that I am passionate

about. I have always been fascinated by airplanes and their aerodynamics but this is also one of the greatest turning points in our history. I chose this topic because the creation of the air plane changed the way we travel, our worlds warfare, and the way we ship goods from one place to another.

How I conducted my research: ! In order to get valid research to use that is reliable, I used the Google Advanced

Search feature to nd reliable primary sources. There were many options for sources but I had to nd sources that were not contradictory, and were not biased. This was difcult because in order to do that, I had to nd multiple sources to make sure that they all said the same thing with no contradictory information. I used an outline to organize my information and that outline showed me what information that I still had to nd. From the research that I found, I used all of the research that was repeated, in order to make sure that it was accurate and not a lie.

How I chose my presentation category: ! For my presentation this year, I chose to do a website. This is because I am

talented at creating technologically advanced elements in my website and I am strong with technology. I quickly thought of the idea of having an online tour of my site would

be a cool idea. This would be accomplished by multiple pages connected by hyperlinks that showed the Wright Brothers personal life and the events leading up to their great discovery. In order to create my website, I conducted a large amount of research rst to get all of the information that I needed. I then organized the information in chronological order and put it all on separate pages to create somewhat of a tour.

How my topic relates to the theme: ! This topic relates well to the NHD theme of, Turning Points in History. Without the

Wright Brothers, humans would still be traveling primarily in boats and inter-continental travel would not be as common. Also, we would still be ghting our wars with mainly infantry and tanks. Without the airplane, goods would still travel mainly by boat and by train. My topic is clearly a turning point in history because, without it, our world would be drastically changed. The Wright Brothers rst airplane was denitely a turning point in the worlds history. The rst airplane quite possibly ranks among the greatest aeronautical discoveries and could be the most important as well.
