Welcom e to the Spring edition of the Ely/Caerau tim e credits menu. Time Credits are a commun ity currency, they are earn ed by volunteering your tim e to the local comm unity, in return for one hour of volun teerin g you can receive one time credit. Each time credit is then worth one hour of activity, this m enu dem onstrates some of the ways you can earn and s pend time credits. Claytime

Claytime, a play with clay, where the audience are invited to participate.
We invite you to a place where the earths natural material meets with childrens imaginations: a world of fabulous forms, amazing animals and morphing monsters. National Dance Company Wales Associates raise the curtain with the spectacular Orient. Dream, from renowned choreographer Christopher Bruce, is a breathtaking celebration of the excellence and achievement of Britain in its Olympic year.

The Rodin project

Maliphant has collaborated with a group of extraordinary performers, using movement influenced by hip-hop and contemporary dance, brought to life through Maliphants unique visual language.

The Government Inspector

Thurs 7th March 7.45pm this performance contains female nudity, audience members must be 16+ Dubious political dealings, a rioting populace, mishandled Fri 22nd March money, panic sound familiar?The Government Inspector is one Sat 23rd March of the worlds most famous plays. Written in 1835 and set in 7.30pm Tsarist Russia, it is a classic satire on human vanity.By turns hilarious and vicious in its expos of corruption among those in power, this masterpiece seems made for the times we live in. For their first visit back to the Sherman, Richard Alston Dance Company are delighted to be opening with the ravishing Shimmer. Martin Lawrance has created Madcap, a startlingly original piece with music by New York band, Bang on a Can AllStars. Tues 26th March 7.30pm

Focus on: Trelai

Sea Anglers

The Trelai Sea Angling club was set up during 2012 as it was felt there was a need for a Sea angling club for the people of Ely and Caerau. There are currently seven members and the club has equipment and is affiliated to Angling Cymru the Welsh Anglers governing body. The club is a non profit making organisation which has a number of dates set up for the coming year for fishing trips, learn to fish courses and taster sessions. Come and join us..

Places for all trips are strictly limited and issued on a first come, first served basis. Places are not reserved until a booking form and payment in advance is received by the Communities First office. The FAST project are looking for extra helpers! FAST stands for Families And Schools Together, and works with community organisations/partners, parents and school staff to run an afterschool club at Herbert Thompson School on Thursday afternoons from 3.305.30. Sessions are focused around a group meal which is prepared during each session. We are currently looking for community members to help with the general running of the club; helping to set up and tidy up, help with the meal, giving support where needed. Introduction to Youth Work course


Length of course: 4 days Date of course: 18 and 19 April and the 26 and 27 April 2012 Venue: Michaelston Adult Centre About the course: More and more people are keen to make a difference in their communities but lack the knowledge about how best to get involved. This course is designed as an introduction for those who wish to undertake professional training in youth and community work and those who would like to know more about studying in this area. Ambassador Talk and Tour


We are looking for a group of local people to come along to the Sherman Theatre on Monday 18th March 2.45pm for a back scenes tour and talk. We then ask that you share your experiences with other community members and distribute promotional materials and information about forthcoming shows to your friends and family.

The New Economics foundation are running a workshop and looking for either people who manage the time credits within community groups or people from Ely & Caerau who have been earning and spending time credits. The aim of this session is to inform the development of the Theory of Change, which is the story of how change is created by a project, programme or intervention. Monday 18th February 2-5pm, you will earn 3 time credits for your participation. Held at Jasmine Enterprise Centre, Cowbridge Rd West, Ely. We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in helping us run workshops to make costumes and props for the Ely festival parade. GreenAge projec t
Greenage project is aimed at people over 50, the project promotes the wellbeing of older people through participation in horticulture and social activities. The project combines basic gardening activities and befriending . The benefits of the project include Make new friends Grow your own fruit/veg/plants at home Increase physical activity Build self esteem and confidence Increase your social contact and participate in local activities

Save energy ... save money!


We are running an event to share ideas on how we can help our community save money on energy costs. This will be held at the Dusty Forge, Cowbridge Road West, on Thursday 21st of February. There will be two sessions from 11.00 am - 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm - 3.00 pm, you can come to either session. Lunch will be available for those taking part The event will be a chance to share ideas for easy ways to save money on your fuel bills, find out about support available for energy saving home improvements, and help us develop the Futurespace energy project.
