Howell Presiding Pastor, Grace Christian Church LESSON 5 THE OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME Introduction: In the Bible, it seems like whenever a person experienced a life-changing encounter with Jesus, it was exciting enough for them to want to tell every on about it. Review the example found in Mark 1:40-45 Personal Bible Study 1. What problem does Jesus have? John 4:35

Jesus makes it clear that many people are waiting to hear the Gospel. The problem is that most Christians refuse to believe that. 2. How did Jesus emphasize what he knows about the readiness of many people to accept the gospel? Luke 10:2; Matthew 9:37,38

And yet most Christians dont believe Jesus. Do you see His problem? __________ Many studies reveal that only 10 percent or less of Christians believe that witnessing is easy and productive. 3. How can we know that witnessing passively with your life is not enough? Mark 16:15; Matthew 28:19

Do you see that Jesus wants us to win people to Him? __________ Isnt that an opportunity of a lifetime? _________ 4. So, if Jesus says it is possible to win souls, doesnt it make sense to believe that we can do it? __________ 5. So could it be that most Christians do not win souls because the methods being used make them feel that soul winning is difficult? __________ What other reasons can you think of?

Page 2 6. Why is fear of witnessing not necessary? 2 Timothy 1:7

So if fear doesnt come from God, from where does it come? 7. Answer this: If there is an easy effective way to win souls, do you want to learn it? __________ Are you sure? __________ 8. Here is a method that God blesses over and over again. It works best if you know the occupation of the person. Lets assume the person is a secretary. Here it goes: After a warm-up, say to the secretary: Did you know there are two types of secretaries those that are saved and those that are about to be. Which one are you? 9. Isnt that easy and powerful? __________ If the secretary says, I am saved your task is finished, if she says I am about to be, then you proceed to lead her in the prayer of commitment. What prayer is that? Here is one that works: Dear God, I confess that I am a sinner. I ask you to forgive me. I need Jesus as my Savior. I invite Him into my life. He is now my Savior and Lord. Amen. 10. Then you ask: Where is Jesus now? The answer should be in my life (or heart) Then you ask: Are you determined to let Jesus guide your life from now on? When the answer is Yes say Welcome to the family of God 11. Do you feel you can witness that way with the help of the Holy Spirit? __________ Are you willing to ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to people who are ready to come to Jesus? __________ 12. Are you willing to use this method at least three times to see what happens? _________ 13. You are about to begin an activity that will bring you joy, excitement, and the marvel of watching Gods power in action. Are you willing to experience that? __________ CONGRATULATIONS!!
