Nearly 1,000 Naval Academy midshipmen attended a lecture by former NFL defensive lineman Feb. 6 on the role of gender, relationships, ethics and maturity in leadership. Joe Ehrmann is a former NFL player, named to the AllCentury and All-American football teams at Syracuse University who is now a motivational speaker. He is a former Baltimore Colts Man of the Year award winner, also named Man of the Year by the Frederick Douglass Society and the National Fatherhood Initiative. Ehrmann explained that most of the gender definitions in society are based on misconceptions.

GARD EN CLUB M E E T I N G

The Naval Academy Garden Club will meet Feb. 19 at 9:30 a.m., at the Naval Academy Club, 2 Truxtun Rd. The program will feature Gene Sumi, educational coordinator and certified professional horticulturist at Homestead Gardens. He will address the topic of how and when to best prune trees and shrubs. MWR FITNESS C L A S S E S

Zumba classes are offered Fridays from 6-7 p.m. from Feb. 1-28. Boot Camp with Kim Elliott is offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Classes are free for active duty, $3 for all others. For more information, call 410-293-9200.

Visitors are reminded that running is not allowed in the ceremonial area around Stribling Walk. The attached map shows the recommended running routes for visitors, staff and mids. >>USNA
