7 Steps By Obtaining Things through Sigils

The first thing that you will obviously need to do is find a spirit that specializes in the task that you need to accomplish. For instance, if you want to call on a spirit to heal someone, you could call on Marbas or Raphael, whereas if you want to bring greater financial prosperity into your life, you'd be better to work with a spirit like Clauneck. 1. It is important that you draw the sigil in thick, black ink. Gazing at the sigil is supposed to be an effortless task, so if you're having to strain your eyes even a little to see the lines of the sigil, you're going to pull yourself out of the necessary psychological and physiological states. I've learned to draw the sigil on a 6 inch square of white paper, in thick, black, permanent market. To make sure that I'm drawing it correctly, though, I'll first sketch it on the paper square in pencil, and then trace over that in black marker. 2. Hold the sigil in your left hand, letting the back of your hand rest easily on your lap. Again, you don't want to strain to see it, but instead want to simply gaze at the sigil easily. 3. Gaze at the sigil. Notice that I use the word "gaze" rather than "stare" or even "look." There is a definite reason for this. When you're staring at something, you're putting quite a bit of effort into it. You're straining your body, your facial muscles, and usually slightly increasing your heartrate and blood pressure as you do so. These will all detract from activating the centers that need to be activated to charge the sigil. If you are simply "looking" at the sigil, you are noticing it almost as a background object. "Gazing," however, implies a certain sort of relaxation, as well as a familiar and even intimate observation. Imagine You Are Observing Your Lover... To drive this point home, think about it this way: Imagine that you are observing your lover. Looking at your lover, staring at them, and gazing at them all embody entirely different emotions, thoughts, and even physiological states! 4. As you're gazing at the sigil, bring into as clear an imaginative picture as you can. You want to try to create a mental snapshot of the future that you're trying to manifest. If you want money, see yourself spending the money, or holding it. If you want love, see yourself with your lover, embracing. If you want sex... well, you get the idea.

Acceleration of Magickal Growth through Physical

I have found that incorporating a physical practice (doesn't have to be magic related) that focus on bodily control and concentration helps tremondously. Yoga, Martial Arts, Juggling and it's related arts ((obvious)) do wonders on helping the mind to learn focus and concentration. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Were talking about daily life. I was thinking over this today after I replied because I applied to teach classes while at FSG this year and I was wondering exactly what benefits I had received from practicing Juggling. Kinesthetic and Body Awareness- The few times that I have went out of my way to attempt to teach people how to juggle or do anything I am noted that there is often a disconnect between their desired actions and their actual actions. Our minds are fairly reprogramable to a large (if not unending extent). Most of juggling is getting the body in line with what the mind is actual trying to do. For some it's easier and for some it's harder. There are also the pre-set limits of the physical body. IE watching a 250lb man trying to do a back flip. But for the mind to able to communicate without much problems with the body is a huge feat and I think stands on it's own as a "benefit" towards spiritual living that is in line with say Tai Chi, Yoga, Martial Arts (to which most people already identify spiritual benefits). As far as the magical benefits like I said before learning how to reprogram the brain to be able to do and perceive things. Focus and Concentration - I don't need to tell you how much these two are important to a magician of any sort. We stare at flames for long periods of time. Spend countless minutes staring into black obsidian mirrors in an attempt to skry. The ability to focus and concentrate is a necessity within the magical arts. Meditation helps us with this as well as "letting go" however someone wants to say this. My current project is learning how to balance things on my chin/head. As funny as it sounds as much focus as I have learned from just juggling and meditating I am learning even more by balancing a peacock feather/ tennis racquet about focusing. I cant remember right now the names of the three stages that have been assigned to meditation however the second is complete focus on an object or thing. Like I said we stare into flames a lot. In this case there is absolute focus not on the meaning of the thing but rather the thing being balanced which is almost in the realm of no-thought. I find it funny that there are images of jugglers dating back to the time of Egypt. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

by lgdvl73 Wed Jan 05, 2011 6:43 pm There are two important reasons why integrating kinesthetic development helps magical growth. Firstly is the cross training aspect. This thread is really good but the common confusion here still persists between Mental Control (concentration, presence, clarity) and mastery of physical awareness. The subtle energy that constitutes the mind-body connection is the realm of magick. As is stated, this realm can be developed through the techniques of magic. However, the reason you get the kind of good recommendations we have here (kinesthetic and mental development) is because cross-training is the key to accelerated growth in any domain. Mental Development (Meditation, Mysticism, Philosophy) is concerned with internal reality, whereas kinesthetic development (coordination, behavior, health) is concerned with external and objective reality. By engaging both of these spheres using disciplines which develop them in their own right; combined with the subtle energy developments of Magickal practice -- cause a cumulative effect on all these domains at once. They all grow faster than they would even if all the total applied energy was concentrated in only one of these domains of practice. Secondly, and most importantly to Magick, is that the development of the kinesthetic line increases your personal power and actual feelings of confidence and inspiration. This translates directly into Will in Works, which is the measurement par excellence of Magickal results. You'll notice that being good in Magick does not necessarily require a high cognitive development or an overly integrated self ... but a magickal practitioner lacking these things is painfully easy to spot. Likewise, fat and unhealthy magicians on meds and/or living with their parents are hardly winning the game ...

O Bardonu I

It is only advisable to mix the first and the second step in the way you have asked below, if you are starting to mix in other steps you are simply wasting your time, you will see below why. Firstly, IIH is brilliant. Make sure you read the IIH Commentary by Veos on this website, it will explain why 99% of people give it up at Step I and how not to fall in to ego's desire to give it up and find an 'easier' path, and more practically what to do at each step to help you with it. Also feel free to write to me as I am strictly on IIH path. 1. Lucid Dreaming is brilliant, I do it. At Step I level it will be incredibly motivating as it will give you a real experience of something truly magical in life. Also if you regularly lucid dream then start reading about OBE's as it will become much easier for you to OBE (read online on Mihail Raduga and Robert Bruce, those are the best practical tests on OBEs (imho). Next time you have a lucid dream instead of doing whatever it is you like to do, try to sit down and mediate in it and see what happens. Try to imagine your Angel appearing in it and see what happens. Try to fly up really really really high, keep flying through the sky and higher (it may take a while) and see what happens. Quote from: charles2010 on January 23, 2012, 06:52:48 PM 2. 2 know Auto - sugestion is in step II. But I try Auto sugestion every night before I sleep (I focus on Healthy). And wow !!! I feel Very health in the morning I wake. So I think It's safe one. What do you think ? Autosuggestion is fine at step I. If you can direct it towards helping you reach the Step I goal. In IIH Step I is the hardest step to pass which is why most people fail at it or give it up, or skip it entirely (and then give up IIH at later steps when they are obviously not working). I think only about 1% of people actually pass step I in IIH. It will be literally the hardest thing you will do in life, and the most rewarding one as well (your entire life will change once you are through with step I - trust me). Step I is not to be underestimated. If you have a full time job, it can easily take over a year of everyday practice and meditations if not much longer than that just to pass Step I. So you need every single help you can get on it, and so use autosugestion to help you with it. Specifically what you want to focus on phrases such as 'My mind is calm. There are no thoughts in it.' and then pause for a second or two, then repeat it again as per instructions in the book. Or anything similar (''I notice the gap between my thoughts', 'I keep this gap, I stay with it.'', ''No thoughts.'' etc) and so on. But nothing can substitute Meditation for Step I, the key is meditating like crazy all the time. The best way to do that is to start doing lots of little meditations (eg: 5 minutes or so) as they are very easy to do psychologicaly. And then to keep increasing this time to 10 minutes and so on. If you do this rather than just doing one very long meditation or two very long meditations in the day, you will find your lifestyle changing much faster and the effect will arise much faster as well. You should still aim to go for long

meditation sessions but this is later, at first start with mini-meditations and as many per day as possible. If you work you can do it in the toilet at breaks (I used to do that), or in an archive room (I also did that). Quote from: charles2010 on January 23, 2012, 06:52:48 PM 3.in phisycal training bardon say we could only fill the water/food/breath with one desire (good thing), but we can fill it with all the bad things (illness, anger, everything). Why ? When you create a desire or impregnate something with a desire/wish, you are creating a thought form on the mental plane. The desire/wish = thought form. Then the astral forces start working on this thought form. If the thought form is diluted then astral force can not work on it (because there is no thought form has actually formed on the mental plane). If you are having different thouhts when you create a desire/wish you will not form an actual thought form on the mental plane. If you are trying to impregnate water with a wish and while you are doing it thoughts pop into your mind ('hmm i'm hungry', or 'i wonder whats on tv', etc) your thought form will not form. There must be complete concentration on a very specific thought when you are forming a thought form, and you must not devitate from it at all. This is why Step I teaches how to control your mind so there is not a single thought in it at least for 10-30 minutes. Because without this you can't do anything at all.

This is also (imho) why Bardon says to focus on ONe Desire only. So you can start practicing this exercise. Until you are past Step I this is just practice as your mind will not be able to keep stray thoughts away, but its good practie nonetheless and can work a little bit like self-hypnosis (although no astral help will come, as there is no thought form formed on the mental plane due to distractions in the mind). When he talks about filling it with all the bad things he means you can you can group them together. Naturally it would work best if you focused on one specific bad thing, but groupoing them in this way is sometimes also used (qigong uses such a grouping approach with negative energy). If you can make it more specific it would work better, eg if you are experiencing anger or lust you can make the impregnation with that, then it would be much more effective than grouping things together. Quote from: charles2010 on January 23, 2012, 06:52:48 PM 4. I apologize for this question but when urine or defecate in restroom/toilet can we visualize all our illness, etc disapper with our dirt ? (if someone feel this question impolite, please delete it) This is a totally fine question, there is nothing impolite in self-development especially on the magic path when we have to face our worst desires and habits. What you describe is exactly what you are to do. Again if you can make the imagination more specific rather than just 'general negative stuff' make it very specific and imagine that illness, or the characteristic or habit leaving you, the it will be much more effective.

Final words don't give up step I buddy, keep at it, no matter what it takes, however long it takes, whatever sacrifices and changes you need to make in your life, never give up, it will be worth it. You will feel what the phrase of spiritual evolution really means (you will be a different person by the time you are at Step I and your life will become so much more positive than you could even imagine) - and that will only be the beginning. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Final note, don't scatter your interests, if your interest is Step I make sure you keep focusing on doing the exercises to pass that step. Don't start playing around with techniques and methods that are not helping you to calm your mind. Otherwise it may take a few years to pass step I and the longer it takes the more chance there is for giving up. You can nail Step I in about half a year, but that means a complete solitary life in total silence, no job, no interactions with anyone, and constant yoga, pranayama and meditations many times a day, as well as no sex or any loss of sexual energy. For a westerner this is often unrealistic, but this is roughly what is possible if you put your mind to it. The entire 1-8 steps can be nailed in 4 years (read Veos article) and you'd be ready for evocations. In just 4 years from now you can be a clairvoyant with all kinds of other awesome abilities, a proper magician at last. Think about it buddy, just 4 years. And things become much easier after Step I as well (things already become easier on Step I as you get further and further in it). So the hard work is only the very beginning few months, then things get easier and quite enjoyable.

O Bardonu II

Hey DoF, its good you are asking questions and its normal as there is not enough described about step I and what happens during it Quote from: Demon of flame on February 16, 2012, 12:58:09 PM during thought control, you first watch your thoughts, then proceed to the blackness(i call it that but thats the period of no thought or very little thought),then the flashing or discharging of the eyes(flashing colours and random objects seen even though your eyes are closed) and finally an empty mind. Where did you get this order of events? Make your key objective during the Step I meditation 'Relaxation' and 'Keeping VoM'. Without Relaxation you will find it incredibly difficult to reach VoM (Void of Mind). Not only will relaxation make the meditation more pleasant and thus you will spend time in it more, but you will notice that if you are tensing any part of your physical body or your mind (eg: by trying to follow some kind of order of events, move to next stage in that order etc) then you can not keep the 'Void of Mind'. With every muscle in your body you physically tense a thought pops up into your mind (you heard of rolfing massage? when they press different parts of your body and you have a thought form pop up in your mind that is stored in the tension of the body.). So your job is to develop a habit of totally relaxing during the meditation - both the physical body and the mind. Physical Body is relaxed by you: 1) Noticing the tensions and 2) Intending to relax them or physically relaxing the muslce that is tense 3) Sitting in a position that is relaxing (use a cushion, make sure you are sitting comfortably). Mind is relaxed bt 1) Not Trying to Do Anything (not following any order of events, not analysing what is happening, not doing anything). And you do this until you begin to 'Notice the VoM' after that you start to use your mind to 'Keep' the VoM (this doesn't really tense the mind, it focuses it). What happens is the VoM comes and goes. It is the space between one thought and the next. If you sit down take a pen and then tell yourself 'I'l notice the next thought that pops up in my mind and I'l write it down.' - you will experience VoM for a second or two as while your mind is 'awaiting for next thought' (being aware), no thought actually comes. Then after a couple of seconds a thought will come 'Did i miss the next thought?' or whatever. If you are very early in your meditation then what is likely to happen is that your stream of thoughts is like a gushing river and you are not used to experiencing VoM. Thus you will have all kinds of things pop up in your mind from verbal thoughts ('how many minutes do i have left of this? what is for dinner? etc) to flashes of scenes (usually outside scenes, a street corner may flash for a split of a second) and anything else.

This is especially true if you are not Relaxed. As you keep meditating this gushing river of thoughts will begin to slow down (if you relax during meditations, if you tense up it may never slow down). And as it slows down you will begin to notice the VoM, the space that is between the verbal thoughts). Now, I found the easiest way to notice the VoM is to meditate with beads. Ideally you want as long string as possible and not a circular one. I use shoelaces (long ones) and simply tie many knots on them (mine fits about 40 knots or so). Then as you sit in meditation as soon as you spotted a thought, or an image, move your thumb onto the next knot, and so on. If you do not use a bead system like this then the mind can fall asleep in a way. If you use the bead system then as soon as a new thought pops up, you move the bead and that remids your mind to stay alert. Once you begin to notice the 'VoM', you will next soon enough notice that you have some kind of 'power' over it. Specifically that you can 'keep' the VoM for a period of time. And the way you do that is by simply 'Relaxing & Intending' for there to be no thought in your mind, then you notice this VoM appears and you simply stay in it. At very beginning stages of meditation you don't notice this power as you don't even notice the VoM. Then you notice this power and start using it, and you can keep VoM for maybe 1-3 seconds. Then you can using it in each meditation and then you can keep VoM for longer, and longer. And then you can keep VoM for minutes and so on. The goal of Step I is to reach a state where your power is strong enough to keep the VoM for 10-30 minutes without a single thought entering. This is quite some power and so it takes a few months to build up. You may also notice that when you are in VoM your experience of time kind of stops and you don't know how long as passed since you entered VoM or indeed anything else that is going. This is because you are preventing the thoughts about time or anything else from entering your mind. And so if you are sitting in a one hour meditation and have multiple VoM experiences during it, lets say 10 experiences of VoM each lasting 4 minutes, then the 1 hour meditation will feel like 20 minutes. don't know if that helps or not Quote from: Demon of flame on February 16, 2012, 12:58:09 PM My question is the narration of your thoughts(you telling yourself to calm down, observe the thoughts and telling yourself to breathe)are these classified as thoughts as well or just the memories and trains of thought? I classify these as 1) Thoughts, and 2) Intentions. Remind yourself that you need to keep the body and mind, both, relaxed, and this can help to cut down a lot of these. Remind yourself over and over again when you experienc the mental flow of thoughts has suddenly increased, and relax over and over again.

Quote from: Demon of flame on February 16, 2012, 12:58:09 PM Because i tend to tell myself to breathe and just observe the thought alot when i'm trying this exercise,is the downfall when which they mention in the commentary(for step 1) and if so will time elapse this or should i stop telling myself to breathe and concentrate as a whole? You should stop telling yourself this, but in a way you can't do that so easily as part of this is the thoughts popping up. To be able to stop this, you need to be able to have the Power over VoM which comes later. So for now, just remind yourself that your key objective is to simply sit and wait for the time to pass. And whenever you notice a thought, an instruction, or an intention to do anything, move your thumb onto the next knot on your bead line. This will go very quickly the more you get used to meditation. You'l develop a habit when you simply sit down, take a couple of breaths, and the VoM kicks in, and next you simply start developing the power to keep it for longer periods of time. --Another point on Practice The Key Goal of Step I is to devolp this Power over VoM. There are many ways to do this, and if you use multiple ways you will find it much easier. The essential way of course is Meditation with eyes closed as per stadard in the book. But use this to speed up your Step I time: 1. VoM Power Exercise - carry the bead line (shoelace with knots) with you during the day, and if you are on the bus, train or even at home feeling bored, take the shoelace out and do a VoM Power Exercise. This is how. You basically only move onto the next knot, if you have noticed the VoM. As soon as you have noticed it, keep it for a second or so, then move your thumb onto the next knot. As soon as you moved onto the next knot ask yourself 'Is the mind clear?' and see if the mind is clear or if there is another thought that popped in. If another thought has popped in, you do not move onto the next knot, you relax and ask yourself again 'Is the mind clear?' and then see if the mind is clear. As soon as you noticed the VoM (no thought) then you can move onto the next bead. There is a lot of neat exercises you can do with shoelace beads. Feel free to invent some yourself. Example: You can move your hand slowly from the first knot onto the others for the duration that you keep the VoM. And as soon as you notice a thought appear, you stop and see how many knots you have gone through. If you know you move at speed of one second per knot, and suddenly a thought broke your VoM - then you simply check how many knots you have moved up already. If it is 10 knots then you held your VoM for 10 seconds, if you finished your shoelace (and make it a long shoelace, 40 knots at least) then you know you are close to 1 minute (quite a progress). Everything counts as a thought here,

especially 'How many knots have I already passed?' (this is the regular thought to keep out of your VoM, as soon as you notice it, your VoM has crashed, count the knots, start again. 2. Breathing Very Slowly while standing up - breathe in very slowly as slow as possible (but not so that it is uncomfortable) and then breathe out just as slow as possible (there is no holding of breath here). Your objective is to focus on making the breath very slow. Not only is this a powerful pranayama exercise that will raise your energy and keep you healthy, but you can experience VoM here very easily, as the mind is focused on the breathing. 3. Tai chi or qigong routine. - the essense of qigong is Relaxing and emptying the mind or fixing it upon a single thought or image. A little routine 4. Trataka meditation - in the evening if you are too tired to meditate, trataka can be quite fun. Turn off all your lights, tun on your phone (if you have a big screen like iphone), open up a drawing app. The entire phone is now full of white background and is shining light on you, draw a circle in it and put a dot in the circle. Then stare at it, reminding yourself to relax every few seconds or so, notice the thoughts that appear. Stare don't blink for 5 minutes. Then keep the phone on just as it is, shining, but close your eyes. Now with your hands move your phone around so its light shines on your face at different gradients (a little bit of light, a lot of light). What you will notice is the afterimage of the circle appear in before your closed eyes (the retina burn image). Freeze the phone and simply stare at it. Then you can open your eyes and look at a space before you, again move the phone light around to get an effect, and if that image then appears before your eyes in the space before you simply stare at it. This is a fun concentration exercise and works from the very first try. The image will jump around but it doesn't matter. The key here is concetration and relaxation 5. Relaxing During the Day - whatever you are doing, notice the physical tension of the body and relax, really really relax like you are heavy, like everything in the world is fine. The more you do this during the day, as you work, as you type on computer and so on, the calmer your mind will be. 6. Mind Energy - anything that aims to still the prana (uncalm prana = a lot of thoughts in the mind). Prana is the vital energy of the body and the mind. Yoga, Breathing Exercises, Relaxation Exericises, Vegetarian Diet, Less Alcohol/Drugs, lots of things help with this. 7. A million other exercises - any exercise which you can do which either 1) Consciously focuses your mind on 1 thought, image, idea, (i.e. concentration exercise, but make sure you practice these while at the same time relaxing) or

2) the opposite (like self-invented Power over VoM exercise above, also practiced relaxing), 3) Any exercise in which you train to relax 8. Earplugs - noise can seriously disturb the mind and make it more difficult to reach the state of VoM and to keep it. If you live in a noisy environment, plug earplugs in the mornig and keep them until you go to sleep (if you can) or for any other period of time. And see how different the day becomes. I use earplugs as a normal now, to cut out 70% of the noise, to keep the mind calmer. 9. Silence Fasts - basically when you do not talk to anyone (not in person nor online) for 24 hours. Notice the effects this has on your mind, record them in your diary. 10. Technology Fasts - no technology of any kind for 24 hours (no tv, no phone, no laptop). Notice the effect on your mind, record in your diary, see if you can use this to speed up your Step I time. All of these things can help hugely with Step I, as you will notice what disturbs the mind and what you can do about it, and what relaxes and stills the mind, but Meditation is still the essential. The test for Step I is to sit down in mediation, and after all these efforts, to notice the VoM and to keep it for 10-30 minutes. The more changes you make in your lifestyle to reflect a calmer prana, the easier it will be to pass Step I and the faster you will pass it. But don't think that meditation is the only thing you have to help you, you can turn your entire lifestyle so that it helps you.

Evil Genious

The biggest obstacle anybody has to them becoming the person they would like to or is meant be, is actually their fixed view of themselves and their situation in life. The person we can find ourselves conditioned by upbringing and the like and how we would like others to see us as, can be as restricting to fulfilment as such. This can be just as dangerous from the side of 'good' for some, as 'evil' is for others. For me I struggled for years looking for a Holy Guardian Angel with many varied deities starting with Ra Hoor Khuit, the Hoor Par Kraat and then it got further away misleading me away from my true path ever further. My posts on this site over the years have shown many of the faults of this quest for everyone to see how not to do things. Hey well as a Capricorn Rising my search for the correct guide is in essence an act of humbling myself as opposed to someone like Crowley with Leo Rising which is all about self-aggrandisement (see The Treasurehouse Of Images). In many ways I have demonstrated how not to be a Thelemite, how silly of me. You see as an introverted personality type, I stupidly thought I could grovel and beg my way to godhead and become a great successful person like Aleister Crowley using the self-sacrificing method he promoted. I would find a way to be no longer be shy and retiring by retreating into a deeply spiritual work. When I failed to get anywhere in this I simply became more focused and determined on it and even more retiring away from the world. I started to lose my way following Crowleys works obssesively and thought my failure at progress was simply as I wasnt good enough and must purge myself even harder, thinking my evil was holding me back; I became a recluse from it all. Unsurprisingly it made me worse, even ill. This wasnt Crowleys fault as such as what he teaches works well for extroverted people like him. For me however it was exactly the opposite from what I needed. There is also far too much mystical language about The Abramelin Operation, which is really simply about finding the 'true self' and 'true will' and then doing it. I often hear the phrase be careful what you wish for as it will come true. Human beings are essentially self-fulfilling prophecies you see. How you define yourself is how you start to become and this then reinforces it further and resonates throughout your whole being until nothing else is possible. This is how it should be, as long as you are working in the right direction for your needs and undermining, not reinforcing your imperfections. In the Abramelin Operation there is the Self, the Deity and the Angel; the go between with Self and Deity. Importantly the Deity you chose for the operation is a below the abyss concept, not an above the abyss one, many make this mistake and it is actually the confusion between monotheism and polytheism too but that is a side issue. It must be one that brings out all that you lack as an individual to make you perfect; which is the above the abyss idea of godhead (which is ultimately Hadit for a man and Nuit for a woman and the union of the two being Heaven). Take Crowleys example Ankh af na Khonsu is a priest named after a moon god, yet oddly he worships a sun god, this a vital clue that is often overlooked. There are actually four gods depicted on the Stele of Revealing but one is hidden as a man. What I am saying is that in order to make yourself a Nuit or Hadit, the ideal perfect individual of your sex so as to be destroyed in uniting with the ultimate opposite, you first need to find what is

underdeveloped in you, to bring that deficient part of you out and make you worthy to identify with Hadit or Nuit. So for a Crowley type personality, his methodology will work wonders, as it did for him. He makes it clear he is an extrovert, so what are us introverts to do? It took me years to work this out and many of you have seen my flapping around here like a fish out of water and it was a real challenge to my whole sense of being. I was a very moral person in my youth, I would never put a foot wrong, I had no over developed ego in need of restraining, like young Aleister. People used to worry I wasnt bad enough to even earn the right to have an ego if anything. I was a late developer in every vice I have taken on. Dipping my toe in slightly and running away, only to dip my toe in again. I was probably really tiresome to many extroverted types back then but I have worked at it and this may seem odd to many I knew later. Less of me and back to the point: To wish for perfection is the only correct wish to wish for you see, else if you get your wish, then where would you be? To sum up it is all simply 0=2 though. Good is just as much an imperfection as Evil and must be cancelled out. I realised that I had been going about it all the wrong way. Instead of following the Great White Brotherhood ideal, my true will and destiny was instead to become a Black Brother Of The Left Hand Path. I floundered about with this idea too but it all started to work for me by choosing instead a lunar god form of Heru-Khonsu (Horus as the moon) and not to look for a Holy Guardian Angel even (ruled by Michael, the good angel in the Tree Of Knowledge Of Good And Evil) but instead an Evil Genius (ruled by Samael, the 'evil' angel from that same Tree Of Knowledge). The perfect is absolute nothing you see and so The Abramelin Operation is more about finding that which cancels out the imperfections of the self. To put it mathematically you have the perfected self as 0, the deity as 1 and the HGA or EG as -1 and hey presto 1 + -1 = 0. This is not by any means an attempt to undermine Crowley and his teachings, rather to compliment it and reinforce it even. Im not telling anyone to follow me, far from it, Don't! Follow Crowley in fact. Not all magicians can be priests and even amongst the priests all but one or two are prophets. I have been liberated and have no such aspirations to that at all in me now. I only had it before as I tried to emulate Crowley thinking the more I did so the more likely I would be to finally attain my true will to be more like him. This too was to misdirect me as I could not be like him; I am unique on a very different way and am finally happy to know my place in the world as it were. It only looked like overcompensation no doubt. I think these potential pit falls have also done that too for many out there, who have made the mistake of announcing some New Aeon to their own HGA deity, like Maat, Babalon, Set and so on. These are sadly wasted individuals, as they have not surpassed Crowley, as they boldly claim but just rendered themselves arrogant and obviously jealous of Crowleys success. Crowley however demonstrated he had cleaned himself of such arrogance and as a result achieved; the Aeon of Horus is proven and cannot be replaced by some upstart with half his knowledge and demonstrated ability. I think this has wasted many a Thelemite and I for one am glad to be purged of such weak arrogance. They should have got from the Knowledge and Conversation to know their limitations and celebrate their uniqueness, not waste their lives trying to be what they are not. There is nothing wrong with attaining an HGA with any deity but my Evil Genius link with Heru-Khonsu makes no claims of undermining Ra Hoor Khuit as the confirmed Chief of all the Gods and my deity bows down to Crowleys with no shame in the slightest, in fact Heru-Khonsu is obviously to me fully supportive of all things Liber AL wanting to change not a word.

I have simply humbly sold my soul to Heru-Khonsu in a way and I chose the Satanic slant in saying that deliberately. I have no doctrine to undermine the prophet of the New Aeon and bow out of all such endeavours and hope I didnt annoy you all too much as I groped in the dark to find my footing. In Crowleys poem Tannhauser he writes a footnote It is a tradition of magic that all words have a double effect; an upright, and an averse. See the shadow of a devils head cast by the fingers raised in blessing as figured in Eliphaz Levis Dogme at Ritual de la Haute Magie and elsewhere. Upon this tradition the whole play hangs. I would argue more than just the play, the whole world even. Look at how Liber AL says of itself that it is the deepest pure spirituality to the Beast but the work of wickedness to the Scarlet Woman. This I still say is not a sexual stereotype but more one of just personality (though it does show both their sexual types). As a Black Brother of the Left Hand Path I will work my work of wickedness and this is to support Crowley completely in all things spiritual, leaving for him to decide such for all. I will not oppose him and I humbly apologise for all the good in me that tried in the past to undermine him. I have killed my heart and that part of me will not complain about true reality any more. I can finally take my part of materiality and the pure joy of existence. I bow to the Beasts superiority and am no longer the slightest interference to his great message of truth, what was I thinking?!? As for those confused by my words here and before, I'm genuinely sorry for that and I think I have demonstrated well that religion really isn't for everyone. I'd best leave it to the experts hey and as part of The Black Brotherhood Of The Left Hand Path will leave The Great White Brotherhood to do all that sort of thing. Have a Nice Aeon. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This path is not the Great Work, that is Theology. This path is the 'Work Of Wickedness' or the Black Work perhaps, it is the path of Alchemy not Theology. Alchemy is the Black Work, in fact Al Khem is the Arabic word for Egypt and means 'the Black Land'. In this context alchemy is the esoteric study of the material which correctly avoids the spiritual conjecture or hypothesis but takes in all experience. Modern science with the act of consciousness or observer put back in perhaps. It may not be Theology (The prerogative of The Great Work) but it is still Magick. I think all Thelemites should read the full Crowley reading list before commenting on him, as much of the hidden knowledge is encrypted in Crowley's works, with the keys being books he has recommended. Though I did learn a lot from following the A.'.A.'. Syllabus and I recommend it for everyone enquiring into such things; it wasn't for me in the end, it being Theology. Religion is a very dangerous thing and I have no tolerance for it any more. What I am saying now is meant to be understood in two ways. The Evil Genius is of course the opposite of the Holy Guardian Angel, which is the Great Work as you correctly say. They are both guides though, just the HGA is associated with MIKAL (The Good Angel, Michael) and the pillar of RUCh (Rauch or Reason), while the EG is associated with SMAL (The Evil Angel, Samael) and the pillar of NPSh (Nephesh or Passion). You see the danger of being too right hand path is to fall in the Pit Called Because and perish with the Dogs of Reason. You could say modern science has become overrun by the Dogs of Reason as there is no world outside their belief system (even if it were to knock on their door they would simply refuse to hear it). The left hand paths pitfall (Insanity or

Obsession) and the Wolves of Passion may be more of a concern to others. These Wolves Of Passion are basically a mirror image of the fault that is the Dogs Of Reason and as one walks the path of the moon the error of one becomes the antidote to the error of the other but never forget they are in the end, both errors. Always question imbalance or unresolved dualities and remember 0=2. Alchemy never stops questioning and tends to try to avoid conclusions that both religion and even outmoded overly dogmatic science can jump to far too soon. My main concern is that I see, even now, whole communities swearing black is white and up is down, following their doctrine and refusing to use their eyes. On the whole there are two paths for any individual from the inner perspective one is correct but that does not define absolutely whether the outer expression of that is right/ wrong or the opposite. Much fear is put about this duality and even more reason, as even if you chose one way over another, this doesnt permanently fix things. There is no wrong decision per se, more what you make of it and you inevitably have the right to exert your true will however it manifests. Crowley is right on this mostly, so follow him not me. There is however some instances where his teachings fail and even he says at times this is the case *see Liber Aleph+. Dont worry though Black Brothers are after all extremely rare; about as rare as say Black Holes. [Without which there would not be enough gravity in the Galaxy to stop it from cooling off too much.+ There is no good or evil simply will. If you have no destiny at all, fate becomes your destiny.

Inflaming with Prayer

I've always approached magick in a practical and logical sense. Only when I was trying to incense myself as a christian to better know God was it personal and spiritual. In reviewing the results of that period of my life I could say that I was still pretty much a regular guy with lotsa questions. i feel I have less questions now than then and am still a regular guy; however, I've recently come across the theme of Inflaming oneself with prayer a few times in the past week or so in my readings. Because my approach to magick is a practical one the best I can do with my communication with God is projecting a feeling of gratitude and appreciation for the people and mundane items in my life. It "sounds like/feels like" I need to be able to rev up my passions more in order to see some practical results from what I do and I have a hard time doing this. With all sincerity, it appears that my success rate is below average and it just doesn't compute. Is there anyone else that qualifies as an emotional flat line? If so, what has been your solution, if you have one. This topic appears to be similar to another topic post regarding "wording." It has much more to do with the individual rather than that the ceremony and minutia of selecting the correct incense and a steady hand for our Hebrew script. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Inflaming thyself is an art, and it is an art of devotion. Masculine males tend to have trouble with this because the masculine is the unchanging emptiness. Sex and Death, orgasm in french means "little death". The masculine likes to "zone out" in front of the TV. etc. etc. The masculine says "I want you, I want to take you somewhere." The feminine on the other hand is all about life and love, and everything that changes. It is also about the phrase "take me, if you dare". This is the inflame thyself in prayer, to want to be taken. To be feminine at the feet of the divine. Many men are to homo-phobic to embrace this aspect of themselves. I recommend any physical exercise that involves bowing, or prostration. Emptiness, watching the forms go by, its only half the story. To be detached, to be the watcher, the witness, is the ultimate masculine. But to shine to the infinite expanse of the universe, in light and love, that is the feminine art. Devotion occurs in the heart center, the heart chakra. Feeling gratitude is a most excellent practice to open the heart. So is a good hour of "tapping" your chest with vigour while chanting a non stop stream of gibberish. Bowing is the most effective. Ridiculous amounts of bowing. You can also go join a cult and do whatever they tell you to do, be there bitch for a little while until you find yourself enjoying it. Then banish and enjoy the identity crisis that results.

I don't mean to rag on anyone, but being an "emotional flatline" is usually just a closed heart. Christ is the christian version of tiphareth (differentiated from christ consciousness), so understand what it means to love those that crucify you, and you will understand the way of the heart. True compassion is painful, rip your heart open in love and you will suffer, beautiful suffering, the suffering of the all dancing and all changing kali, or any other feminine god form of choice. Trying to define the feminine using a masculine principle is like trying to fit the ocean into a box. release thyself, enflame thyself, and give in to her, the great mother, that fucking bitch of a whore who will devour you in the end, there is no escape from her. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I see prayer as another "lost" magical art. It has become rote recitations or simple wish-making. Prayer originally was a process of concentrated visualization, combined with emotional and mental energy, properly grounded to the physical through proper vocalization. The spoken Word became in essence praying, this was first understood by the ancient Egyptians in the way of Affirmations and made manifest in vibrational magick (Heka). Efforts were made to align sound with the principles of a cosmic order (natural ordering of the universe) which perhaps could be seen as a LOGOS, the dialog with that part of your Self that has the ability to create any condition you need or desire, Dmonic/Divine/Higher Self. The invocation within a prayer unites our meditative state of consciousness with the power of the Word and our innate force of Will. I think if we remove the God thing from prayer, we can clearly see what prayer really is, a technique for implanting positive suggestions in our minds, another form of NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP). Prayer is also a form of meditation and capable of neuroplasticity (the ability to change how the brain functions). NLP uses Self image and attitude towards illness to effect change and to promote healing. Hope is our greatest asset. It is one of the main reason why placebos (sugar pills used in clinical studies) work. We also know how effective prayer can be when it is combined with faith and hope. When a person loses hope and feels helpless in the face of a chronic disease such as AIDS or cancer, it is very easy to lose the hope; the body may just "quit trying." If the patient is made aware of his or her unique abilities and possibilities, he or she may see things differently. Now, the body's natural healing power can be harnessed to do the job. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Jesus Christ! What's the matter with you people? This guy is talking about a lack of emotional connection with his practice ... and all I see is a bunch of dryas-dirt analysis on "males do this because of a spiritual disposition toward to unchanging emptiness", "emotion forms" (WTF is THAT?), and "constant dialog with HGA". What the fuck? Really?

If you want to use emotion to affect an occult outcome, think about you mother dying after telling you she loves you more than life itself; or your 19 year old cat coughing up bile before dying in your arms because you were too cheap to take her to the vet. Or that cute little girl who was buried alive with her dolphin stuffed toy by some sick son-of-a-bitch. Think about fucking your sister because you were drunk and horny at a party, and she was passed out and thought you were her boyfriend, and now you have to look at her every day. Think about how much you could have done to stop that asshole from beating the shit out of that boy who just wanted to go home for a birthday party in his honor by people who loved him. Think about how much you hate that guy who beat the shit out of you on your birthday. GRIEF SEX SHAME REGRET ANGER These are the emotions of power. We see it every day. The World moves, unconsciously, by these powers. Magic is not separate from the world. It is Nature. Harness the intrinisc powers of Nature, and you control the Powers of magic. That said ... lets look at a more subtle, but more powerful type of power. It is also of Nature ... but it is not animal nature. It is uniquely Human... It is a Power that does not lend itself readily to overt display, unlike the negative emotions. Nor is it easy to invoke. The trick is that you have to be a conscientious and evolved Soul to make it manifest. AND THAT IS DIFFICULT ... considering people who are conscientious and evolved are few and far between. Think about how much you love your mom, and how much you cherish her last words before dying. Think about the fact that you consciously chose to let your old cat die a natural death in your arms, so that she would be spared being put down in a a frightening environment without being with you at home - with someone who loved her for years. LOVE GOD LIKE YOUR ETERNAL CRUSH. ... then whisper it to Her/Him. The other shit is just fucked up. Don't think about it. Get rid of it. Banish it. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO BANISH REGRET AND SHAME ... if you want to use positive emotions to affect Magic. That is why it is so hard. See what I mean? It takes a truly conscientious and evolved Soul to use it. However, it's not rocket science to be able to "inflame oneself".

I AM Solar Grounding Ritual and Banishing Exercise

This was posted on Occult Forums a few years AGO i have used it and it definitely works it takes awhile to get the hang of.. Solar Grounding Ritual Visualize yourself as growing very large...huge. Grow until you can put one foot on the Sun and the other on the Earth. Size DOES matter! If you can see yourself bigger than the Galaxies that is even better. See yourself in the darkness of space with your feet on the two worlds. Draw up power from the Sun into yourself and re-direct it into the Earth. Just make certain one foot (I have always put the Right foot on the Sun) is firmly planted on the Sun and the other foot is firmly planted on the Earth. You need to feel the power rising up from the Sun into your body, feel your body being infused by this energy, and then feel the power flow down the other leg into the Earth. Do this continuously for about 15 minutes. At the end of the 15 minutes, shut off the flow to the Earth while still drawing the power from the Sun. Continue this for about 1 minute. At the end of this exercise see yourself shrink down to your normal size. Do this exercise two to three times a day for the next week. This exercise should make an immediate difference in your available energy and should also ground you. I will not tell you WHAT you will feel however I guarantee you that you WILL feel the energy within you and passing through you. Many are unable to do this exercise for a full 15 minutes when starting. If you are doing it properly you may need to do it for shorter periods initially. Additionally, to call this exercise a Grounding exercise is VERY misleading. Once you begin this exercise you will experience some unusual things that will open an entire new world to you. This results of this exercise actually change based on YOUR NEEDS at the time. Solar Banishing Wave The Banishing Wave is a technique that the Magickian can use that is effective against ALL entities in my experience. There is one key requirement that is necessary for the Banishing Wave to work; the Magickian has to KNOW that the Banishing Wave will work. The Magickian VISUALIZES and FEELS a wave, similar to the blast wave of a nuclear explosion, expanding and radiating out from within the Magickian in all directions. The wave should be seen as forming a pressure wave that physically and astrally blows away anything in its path. The Magickian should feel the heat of the explosion, the force of the blast, and should SEE the pressure wave expanding out to the horizon in all directions. This explosion should be seen and felt as an expanding CIRCLE or SPHERE, with the Magickian being in the center of this explosion..

The effectiveness of the Banishing Wave is greatly increased if the Magickian incorporates the energy of the Solar Grounding Ritual. To do this all that is required is that the Magickian remembers what the energy of the Solar Grounding Ritual feels like and feel THAT ENERGY as the nuclear explosion that radiates and expands evenly away from the Magickian. This Banishing technique, once mastered, can be performed instantly almost without thought and, as long as the Magickian KNOWS that it works, has proved effective (in my personal practice) against any entity or force that the Magickian wishes to Banish.

ADHD Exercise

Get on a bus, a public city bus. Stay on it for at least two rounds, meaning, it completes a route two times. During this time, there is only one rule. Just one. Keep your eyes locked on what's going on outside by looking out a window. Suggested, optional guidelines: Notice as many details as you can the first circuit. Try to predict them the second time through. Listen to the conversations that are going on around you. Just listen to them. During this time, don't bother with any meditations, any rituals, any sigils.. just omit them. Just observe. Make observing into the ritual. I don't know if ADHD is something that can (or should) be 'overcome', rather, I believe it to be something that can be tamed. If you can focus it, you can explore several different variations of the same thought simultaneously. So, I suggest to internalize it, while keeping a fragment of your focus turned outward, observing. Another suggestion is to lay down, while completely awake, and see how many unique, distinct thoughts you can have running at the same time. Play 'em out. In my youth, I mustered around eight of them, with the eighth being an ongoing analysis of if they were actually unique, distinct thoughts that weren't related... these days, I can muster around three, having since refined it into a supreme 'hyper-focus'. Ultimately, don't try to suppress it, that's like saying, 'my sword is too sharp! i'll whack a brick for a while to dull the blade!' -- rather, temper it. Find a way to make it work FOR you. As for sticking to one paradigm.. ..screw that. Find how all of the paradigms you've been attracted to are *the Same*. Find the commonality that exists in ALL paradigms. Now, I'm no chaote, I do have a solid paradigm that I stick to.. ..but I do enjoy being able to express these ideas in as many 'languages' as possible... and... it is possible.

About Ego

Do you understand the difference between having a big ego and being a narcissist? Maybe its a clear issue for most, but I think it can be confusing. Knowing the difference is important, because a big ego is generally healthycontrary to popular beliefwhile narcissism is not. Having them confused can be detrimental to your growth and emotional well being. Discerning Ego from Narcissism Ego is the psychological definition of the conscious self, the executive of the personality governed by the reality principle. Coined by Freud, ego is used by most branches of psychology to describe the conscious self. This covers a lot of ground, from how we see ourselves, to how we see the world, to how we solve problems and form relationships. Our ego is our basic relationship with life. It is not bad to have a big ego. In fact, if you want to accomplish big things in life, a big ego is necessary. Yes, necessary! A big ego means that you are confident, realistic, and able to care for yourself through the difficulties (hard work, rejection, naysayers, etc.) of trying to achieve something. People with welldeveloped egos tend to roll with the flow of life, stay focused on their goals, and keep a healthy perspective. They neither sink into hopelessness at failure, nor feel invincible with victory. Theyre willing to do what it takes to get what they want and stand for what they believe in. Without a big ego, you will not have the self-sense necessary to persevere in the face of adversity. Narcissism, on the other hand, describes an overabundance of self-absorption. The term, also coined by Freud, was taken from the Greek hero Narcissus, who was unable to tear his eyes from his own reflection. Narcissists tend to see the world and everything that happens to them in the same, selfcentered light, with little regard for others, including spouses, children, and friends. (In fact, parental narcissism probably causes more emotional harm to children than any other single trait. It is at the root of most self-involved and self-destructive behavior.) We all start out life as flaming narcissists. Infants, utterly self-absorbed and completely ruled by their impulses, are incapable of anything more. As they grow and develop, they become more aware of their surroundings, eventually communicating and learning how to have relationships. They learn that other people have feelings that must be considered, and they learn to share. They learn about right and wrong. Eventually, they learn about love, both brotherly and romantic, and they learn that sometimes, personal sacrifices are necessary in its name. With any luck, by the time theyre young adults, theyve developed a healthy ego, and theyve shed most of their childhood narcissism. In one very real sense, personal development is the process of outgrowing our narcissism. As we grow, we become increasingly aware of belonging to something greater than ourselves: a family, a community, a class, a society, a planet, and pretty much in that order. The larger our sense of belonging, the less narcissistic weve become. For example, Think globally, act locally is a more sophisticated viewpoint than Proud to be an American because it takes into account the entire planet rather than just one

nation. The most extreme example of a lack of narcissism is perhaps spiritual enlightenment. People who attain enlightenment disidentify with their small self, or personal identity, realizing it to be nothing more than a manifestation of Spirit (God, Emptiness, whatever you wish to name it), which is our True Nature. We dont all end up here, but its important to understand that the ultimate goal of all personal development is, paradoxically, freeing ourselves of the personal. If you look inward and contemplate this for any length of time (which I suggest you do), you will know it to be true. Of course, the personal includes much more than narcissism (which Ill get to in a moment), but enlightenment is the best example of a narcissistic-free state I can think of. Its true that a big ego and narcissism can look the same. However, they are vastly different; polar opposites, in fact. A narcissist only appears to think highly of himself, while a person with a welldeveloped ego really does. Narcissists have fragile self-images that must be coddled and pacified; truth takes a back seat to maintaining the desired self-image. If youve ever run up against a hard core narcissists self-image, youll know it by the viciousness with which he defends his house of cards; for example, confronting an addict who has no intention of changing. Ouch. A person with a big ego, on the other hand, has a solid sense of self that does not require any delicate handling. He has confidence and healthy self-regard. Big egos can sometimes be irritating in their singlemindedness and unwillingness to compromise, but understanding how this is different from narcissism is critical to growth. If you have narcissism and ego confused, you may shy away from ego development for fear of becoming conceited or arrogant, and this is exactly backwards. Conceit, arrogance, and other aggrandizing traits are much more likely to stem from a lack of development, not from a healthy ego. This is perhaps one of the most important distinctions you must make if you want to stay the course of personal growth. Including and Transcending It may seem contradictory to say that a big ego is essential to personal growth and that disidentification with ego is also essential to personal growth; that to reach advanced levels of development (i.e., spiritual enlightenment), we must disidentify with our personal selves. Yet both are true, and heres why: All development follows a similar pattern of transcending and including. That is, in order to master a higher level of awareness, whether it be rollerblading or spiritual enlightenment, we must first become aware of it, practice until it becomes a part of us, then transcend it by moving on to the next level of difficulty. Like the pages in a book, we progress through life, each chapter dependent on its predecessor and necessary for its successor. Include and transcend occurs from birth forward. Once we learn to walk, we dont think about doing it, we just do it. But we then move on to running, skipping, and jumping. Once we learn to talk, we dont think about it, we just do it. But talking enables us to move on to reading, writing, grammar, linguistics, and all other language-related pursuits. Every skill you have, you once had to practice. But once you got it, it became automatic, second nature. You disidentified with it and moved on to something else.

This pattern is universal with all development. Everything starts out with less complexity and moves toward more complexity. The greater the complexity, the higher the level of development. Yet each level of development builds on and contains every simpler level that came before it. (This is why Think Globally, Act Locally is a more sophisticated viewpoint than Proud to be an American.) Disidentification is just another word for transcendence: when you move to a higher level, you no longer identify with the current level. This doesnt mean you leave it behind. It means that it is no longer the object of your focus because it has become a part of who you are. The crucial point is that a thing must be included before it can be transcended. It must be part of our psyche, second nature. When you try to transcend an aspect of the psyche that youve never fully owned (included), you end up not with disidentification, but with dissociation, or disowned aspects of your self that you repress from your conscious awareness. These disowned aspects can be both good and bad, and are what make up your shadow. They are fodder for all manner of psychological and emotional difficulties. In fact, many psychological and emotional pathologies can actually be defined as the include and transcend process gone awry at an early stage of development, usually due to some sort of trauma; the worse the trauma, the worse the dissociation. For example, if a child suffers abuse at an early age, she may be too terrified to consciously deal with her powerful feelings, so she represses them. They fester in her unconscious and cause all sorts of problems, from low self-esteem to fear of intimacy, which as an adult woman she experiences only as confusion and pain. Unless she owns the powerful repressed feelingsthat is, includes them in her conscious awarenessshe is doomed to continued misery. Without conscious inclusion, she is incapable of getting past the feelings, of transcending them. It simply wont happen. The same is true of ego (as well as pretty much everything else). You cannot transcend something you havent included. While its true that ego must be transcended to achieve enlightenment, its also true that it must first be developed to a full, healthy state. As ironic as it might sound, if you want to grow spiritually, you must also grow mentally and emotionally. You cant skip over these aspects of self in your quest for Awakening. If you do, you may achieve advanced states, and perhaps even some form of enlightenment, but it will be fragmented and incomplete, and your fullest potential will remain out of reach until you deal with the dissociated parts of yourself that youd really prefer to ignore. Ego Development As stated earlier, ego is the executor of our personality, our relationship with the world. It isnt really one single thing that you can work on. Rather, having a healthy ego is the result of growth in many areas. You must face and deal with the dissociated aspects of your self, which we all have to some degree. You must deal with addictive and compulsive issues, rooting out the source of these impulses. You must deal with self-esteem, self-image, childhood trauma, shame, resentments, and any and all other blocks to growth you know you have. We cant get at everything, but we have to make the effort anyway. Along with this uncovering work, we must also develop ourselves spiritually, seeking to answer our questions of ultimate concern. We must develop and live by our values and understand our place in the world in a way that feels right for us.

All areas are dependent on each other and are necessary to develop if we want to reach our highest potential. Spiritual growth without emotional growth results in dissociation (which has all sorts of different faces, including the Spanish Inquisition, Jim Jones, Muslim extremism, and most branches of fundamental Christianity). Emotional growth without spiritual development results in more assertive narcissists. And mental development is essential for all growth, as cognitive capacity is a prerequisite for pretty much everything. Thus, ego can only be developed by working on everything else. Its not easy, but its not supposed to be. Its a lifelong adventure, always unfolding before us, always just beginning, always promising more mystery, adventure, and excitement than the best novel weve ever read. It is a journey not to be missed. Summary In summary, ego development is a necessary aspect of the personal growth process, while narcissism is the thing were trying to outgrow. We are all to some degree narcissistic; we all have shadow aspects wed rather not deal with. But we must be willing to face them if we are to transcend them. Include and transcend is the basic pattern for all growth, and explains why ego development is necessary on the path to spiritual enlightenment. Outgrowing our narcissism isnt the only factor in personal development, but it is an essential one. Integral personal developmentwhich ultimately results in enlightenmentrequires both.

O Pravilnom iscrtavanju simbola prilikom rituala

That is not the solution. That is exactly not the solution. That is avoiding the work in one scale to prefer another. The whole point of drawing them is lost. The whole point is to bring them into the FIFTH scale of magic, - which is vantaged from the fourth. That is the scale of ACTION. Gesture is the first ACTION - and it starts before the exit from the womb. The first step of the Initiate is the first kick in the womb, which is with the left foot, which is the sign of completion of the development of the enteric nervous system, the biological housing for the body of light, which leads from the tip of the tongue to the left big toe. Astrally drawing them is working in a completely different scale. Action is the intercessional dominion of the experience of solidity dominating the experience of perception. Astral magic is THIRD scale vantaged from the fourth. Which is why most everything in the astral has some kind of physical comparison. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I am sorry to come across as a hardass, but all too often a young magician will come up with the notion of doing all of their work in the "astral" and you know what - THE WHOLE POINT is to bring the astral into your perceptions, not to fling your perceptions into the astral. Then they complain they get nowhere, and their results start to fizzle, or be unpredictable, and then the next thing you know they have a firm fixed opinion about magic that is little more than pop psychology and a poor understanding of geometry, and start making stuff like "The Neuro-linguistic Banishing Ritual of the truncated Icosohedron" (TM) which they can never exactly tell you what the functionality should be. It is just energy obsession. Such games and experiments are fine, but the astral experience of magick is comparative in its own scale to the scale of magick as action in its own. No scale replaces another, it is simple the expression of magick in a different scale of subtle mathematics. And we all have strengths in some, while others are VERY difficult for almost everyone. But a magician does not just play to his or her strengths, though we would be fools to think we should not test the limits of even what we excel at. But if you walk around in a scale of five all the time, you will get nothing else accomplished because you are just taking part in a very small part of the mathematical nature of the universe. You will be daydreaming. As an astral magician, in third scale - you will be lucky if you move. Frankly, you should just get an x-box and be a gamer at that point. Or hell, just sit on the internet! ok, time to go sweat and hopefully not bleed today!

Inviting spirits of books, music, food and others to teach us

My point is this - if a book tells you it is a beginner book about magic - it is usually not of much good. Better you read and discover magic in books where it was not intentional - here is what I suggest to new people. Take a book you enjoy and know well. Light a candle and ring a bell and say something like this: "As I open this book I invite the mysteries of its creation to be opened to me, that I may understand its place in my life, and its importance in my quest to know and apply the powers of my own being to the experience I have of the mysteries of my own creation, and the glory of that which I should regard as creator; eternal and capable of all things. I ask that all this sacrament of the understanding of myself here requested be sanctified from all harm to myself or my chosen and preferred." Vibrate the vowels A E I O U four times - and read OUT LOUD a page of that book you randomly open to. Predictably my own version rhymes and is as pretentious as my goth days when I read it. This is an experience I apply to books, meals, music and much more. Invite the world to reveal itself to you - if a spirit or presence is there be sensible but respectful - if it is helpful, consider that a good sign, and invite it if it shows up again. If it is not - sincerely and respectfully ask it to return to its abode and habitations. This fact-finding is very much of use to the VERY young magician. It is far better than doing a thousand banishings a week, which I liken to putting on a box of condoms before you even ask someone out on a date. Most of the people I know or meet never progress past this point, not realizing these exercises were given to people to show them the structure of a magic ritual, without being plugged in to anything significant. I know self styled "magicians" who pride themselves on their LBRP which they have spent decades of developing. This is like taking your tricycle as a vehicle you are intended to get around with for the rest of your life. By your third year of magic, if you have any instruction to match your ability, you should be able to compress all of the LBRP into a single thought, and enact it with a single word. Pay particular attention to what occurs when you are BEING or DOING what you do in your life before you start asking people who try to make the occult sciences an overt reality unto themselves. Generally, this is mostly so you can have a language. You know this, I know. But honestly reading light books on esoteric topics makes no sense to me. Better to go crack a really good book of instruction in stuff to be of real use, like something you actually study because you enjoy it, or it defines your interests that led you to magic.

Archetypical Associations

Lets look at the term 'selfish'. When self love is mentioned as a virtue around unworthy minds, those minds project responses such as "But others should come first" or "by being self centered we become egotistical and therefore immoral". This is entirely due to the stigma attached to the words themselves in the minds of men. The image or feeling that comes to mind in response to the mention of the word may well doom the philosophical discussion to mindless arguements about right and wrong. This can be undone, on a level of self, by the process of mental bridge dissolution and reallignment. Whether by ritual, meditation, intellectual deconstruction, etc, we can burn or dissolve the bridge from one idea (self centeredness) to another (the percieved result of self centeredness, amoralistic egotism). An example would be to deprogram the emotional energy we attach to a word, and reallign them to fit our purpose in using that idea. Instead of self centeredness leading to amoralistic egotism, self centeredness can form a bridge to Self love, self love can form a bridge to success and comfort, which can than form a bridge to being able to aid or help others out of our own volition. Finally, a new bridge, which shows the greater good of it all, can be formed to the idea that by helping ourselves, we can put ourself into a position to help the world, and therefore productivity is increased for the self and beyond. Thoughts, ideas? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I'd say this forms a large part of any occult or spiritual practice. Even something like reality checks for lucid dreaming are designed to to just this. Every time you walk through a door or look at your phone, you check to see if it's a dream. Through repetition, this creates a bridge from that normal everyday thing leading to somewhere it normally wouldn't. This bridge, link or connection makes up the most fundamental unit of occult thought forms. But you need to think bigger than just simple associations. You need to assemble those association into machines. Lets compare those bridge associations to city streets for a moment. You can't just build streets in a city willy nilly. They have to be planned out and placed strategically to handle the flow of traffic and the needs of it's residents. In order to do that, you need to distinguish between arbitrary clusters of streets by designating residential zone, business zones, downtown cores, ect. Magically speaking now, the next level of complexity above the basic bridge unit is the archetype, which is basically a cluster of these associative bridges, the sum of which define a certain topic. These bridges assemble to form archetypes, and archetypes assemble to form paradigms. You can do amazing things just using simple associations, but with a few more layers of complexity, the possibilities of what you can do are endless. Using this type of machinery is simple. It's not something you need to learn, we all do it automatically. You focus your attention on an archetype, and your attention can go down any of the associative

bridges sprouting from it, each one leading to another archetype with a different set of possible paths. You can reposition your attention manually, but you are always limited to the bridges connected to the current archetype your are focused on. Most often we flow from one nexus to the next like a chain. So when creating your paradigm machine, you want to create a system than maximizes the bridges leading to your goals and minimizes the ones leading to things that are antithetical to your goals. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Satanically speaking, one may intellectually deconstruct the ideas of the demonic archetypes (and even their interactions with eachother) into seperated stages or points, and thereby reconstruct the devils to their fullest form in the psyche? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Yeah. If I wanted to increase the influence of a demonic entity in my life, I would begin associating more every day things to it. Every time I saw an accident or heard about something bad on the news I would associate that with whatever demon. Every time I saw someone stub his toe I'd go "yeah! Satan!". You hear about crazy people becoming trapped by these constructs, but in this case you're doing it on purpose. Deconstructing your pre-existing intellectual property is a little more difficult than starting fresh. For instance I know very little about demonic pantheons so I don't have to start with a lot of conflicting circuitry. What may help with deconstruction is the fact that these bridge associations I've been talking about can hold an emotional charge. An archetype is a nexus point of converging associations, paths the attention can wander down. But each path has a different probability of being chosen. This chance of being selected is the result of repetition and emotional reinforcement. The more one of these paths is used, the stronger it becomes, the more likely it is to be used next time. This is called "weight" in neural networking jargon. Emotions also add a lot of weight to these paths. In fact you could say they take on an emotional residue, or distinct emotional tone. The archetype of your girlfriend no doubt contains associations flavored with both positive and negative emotions. If you think about her while in a good mood, your attention will take those paths with a matching emotional resonance. If you think about her while in a bad mood, you will remember more of those negative associations. Or if you constructed her archetype of nothing but positive associations, you could use it to lead yourself from a bad mood to a good mood, since that is the only possible outcome. So to nullify existing associations, you could try imbuing those unwanted associations with an emotional charge that you won't be using in your magical workings. That way when you approach it with your magical mindset, those unwanted paths won't be open. Since I've already mentioned limiting path possibilities through emotion, the other way to narrow down the selection is through combining archetypes.

For instance, my dreams create a version of the beach according to my personal archetype of the beach. But the beach that dream creates for me in a summer time setting is going to be vastly different than the one it will create for me in a winter setting. Combining elements is another great way to limit outcomes. You just need a good set that works well with each other to create your quantum device.

About Practicing Magick

So just what the HELL is going on here? Am I the only magician that uses magic to rise above the problems of mundane existence? By no means is my life, or my skill in the Art of magic perfect and complete. My recent escapades with Bune seem to be unprecedented among my fellow magicians for example, although they have confirmed in one way or another through their own magical works that the source of the problem was related to the way I had approached the idea of being a Hierophant. The point is, when I found out what was going on, the first thing I did was fix it. Using magic. That's my general approach to everything. It works really well. I use Magic to get ideas about what I should be doing in my mundane life. I use it to get ideas about what spiritual activities I should be pursuing. I use it for food, health, safety, and travel. With the knowledge I get reading and meditating, I create and perform rituals that bring about what I want to happen in my life and my world. I know I'm not the only one that does this. I talk to many magicians on the internet across the world who are doing the same thing. What I don't understand is why it's so relatively rare. The number of magicians in control of their lives is staggeringly low. Most people interested in the occult are interested in the power to control their worlds, but compared to the number of people interested, the number of people doing the Work, doing the magic that transforms their existence is less than half of one percent. Magic. It's what a magician does. It's not a last resort, it's a first resort. The lungs breathe, the liver filters, the brain processes. The magician does magic. The magician is in control of their world, not isolated from other influences, but in a position of authority in determining which of the opportunities life will present, and how those opportunities will come about. There's too much slap-dash going on. People slap together a quick one-time rite, and dash off to the next thing, which is usually something they are reacting to. There's little or no actual proactive planning and implementation of their lives. They're content to sit back and follow the script they've been given for the most part, with a little dabbling here and there. I'm not advocating any "Left Hand Path" philosophy here, but I do want to point out that YOU are not a passive part of existence. You have choices to make that affect many others. If you choose not to choose, you still have made a choice, to quote Rush. You're an active part of existence, and magic gives you the keys to the Kingdom. You've got at your beck and call the very spirits that make up the world. Why on earth would you not choose to use them? Why didn't Dee use the Angelic system of magic he received? Why didn't Agrippa put his skills in the occult arts to use to keep from having to recant his writings? Why didn't Crowley just manifest the cash to go to Cairo if he was that worried about it? Was it a lack of faith in their magic? Was it that they, like so many magicians today, believed that magic is interesting and neat, but when the rubber meets the road, you have to deal with life from the mundane? I don't know. It doesn't make sense to me.I understand that things won't always work out the

way you expect, and that's fine, but one thing I've learned in this Great Work is that I am in control of what I experience in life. There is nothing beyond my ability to research, conjure, and influence. Sometimes the influence will be on my own expectations, changing what I want as I learn why things are the way they are. But there's nothing my Daimon and I can't handle, manipulate, and shape into what ought to be. So let's all kick it up a notch or two. No whining, no fear. Let honest curiosity and righteous indignation fuel our endeavors. If money is a problem, conjure cash and multiple streams of income. If health is a problem, conjure healing and aid. If something is broken, fix it. If you don't know how to fix it, find out how to fix it. You're one meditation away from the brightest intelligences in the universe, literally. And trust the things you're studying and learning in the occult. It really is real. And there's nothing to be afraid of. You'll be just fine.

How to Use Poetry to Guide Your Focus

Using poems to get into or reverse specific mindsets. Published on April 30, 2012 by Joseph Cardillo, Ph.D. in Attention Training How about trying something different to enhance you focus? Imagine having your iPod or cell phone loaded up with poems read by your favorite authors and capable of guiding you into your most balanced mindset wherever you go, at the push of a button. This post will discuss why and how you can do just that. The classical music of literary arts Historically, poetry has been treated as the classical music of literary arts. Why poetry? Other forms of literature like poetry also have the capacity to extend influence over you. But poetry has some special elements that make it a powerful prescription for quick and lasting mind-body effects. For immediate fixes, a poem can function as a pick-me-up, relaxer, mood shifterand much more. For the long-term and depending on the poem, like certain music, chants, and incantations, poems can have real staying power over what and how you think, feel, and do. Like music, you can use poems to train your mind into or out of specific mindsets. A poems rhythms and other repeated patterns, sounds (consonance, assonance, rhymes), tempo, visuals (images and metaphors) and other sensory detail, harmony, and dissonance allow it to extend its influence over your mind in many of the same ways as music. A poem is (usually) short and complete Because many poems are short, like a song, you can listen to a piece repeatedly, if needed, in order to produce your desired effect (e.g. higher alertness, joyfulness). But poems arent just smaller versions of a piece of writing that would like to be longer. They are complete unto themselves. They are, in effect, condensed language frozen into a set frame for maximum output. Their greater energy output increases their potential communication and impact. The poet and langage theorist Charles Olson referred to this structure as unique and significant to the genre. This is because this tight little package of words is capable, according to Olson (and many others), of transferring the entirety of a specific slice of personal experience straight into another person, making the experience, now, fully the readers (or listeners), and giving the reader full access" to whatever the writer just felt, thought, did. In this model, audiences become a participant in where that entire download of experience may lead. The process emphasizes the reader's role in taking meaning from the poem. When a poem works for you When a poem works for you, it is possible (I think desirable even) for you to, ironically in a sense, share in the initial experience, and then, perhaps walk away with more than the writer may have. Imagine

this: Say you could place someone into a virtual reality of an experience capable of making that person feel everything as you did in that experience. The job of the poem, says Olson, is to create that kind of virtual reality with words. Once having experienced the poets reality, readers can loop the experience (and its ability to inform them and others) into their own personal environment. The mythologist Joseph Campbell referred to this looping or feedback, as he called it, in such a way: the writer-artist creates; a myth takes flight, the experience streams into the minds of many, and then it becomes a shared mind. It eventually returns to the world of writers-artists who loop it back around (in response) again. Art grows. Individuals grow. People grow. A larger consciousness grows. Each reflects and contributes to the transformation of the other. Breaking through A poem is what you would say if you only could, said poet Allen Ginsberg. It is the articulation of what otherwise would remain for and among individuals as unspeakable. On the other hand, much has been written on the idea that language becomes desensitized and as a result so do its users. Desensitized language then leads to breakdowns in communication and to a general deterioration of attention, focus, personal and interpersonal development. Some have gone so far as to say that language has become desensitized to the point to where it is dead. When a poem is successful, however, says Pulitzer winning poet Galway Kinnell, it breaks through some moral sound barrier. It breaks through politics, gender, religion, culture, all dividers. It enters the place of pure human experience. When this happens, the poems core experience is capable of being about anything - anything. So the right poem could theoretically work magic for you in multiple situations youd like to correct or enhance. A colleague of mine recently said given the right time, environment and personal conditions, you can be in a state of almost anything: almost sad, almost joyful, almost focused, almost So now imagine having something in your pocket you can use to break through (almost) anything. Or revive from or advance you from almost somewhere to right where you want to be. Start today Make your own poetry playlist. The first step is to find a poem you like a lot and become sensitive to how the piece makes you feeland whenas you will probably discover that this depends on different variables: how you are feeling (or almost feeling) at the moment, your environment, your schedule, where you are, what time it is and so on. Lets say you find a piece that feels right when you are feeling stressed at the end of a long day. The next step is to search legitimate sources for a CD, DVD, audio or visual download of your special poem as read by its author. Then purchase a version you like best (where there are no copyright infractions) and load it onto your iPod, MP3 or cell phone so you have it next time you need it. Note: Some recordings of copyright free classic poems can be found on various poetry websites free of charge.

You can also try making playlists of readings of your favorite poems and even organize them to play in a certain order, for a better effect. Another option is to label playlistse.g. Morning Poems, Almost Depressed, Joyful, Elevate Attention, Calming and play them regularly to get you into a mood, out of a mood, or to heighten the mood. Use your playlists for specific situationse.g. coming home from work etc. Try to play before and after targeted situations to send your mind the message that this is the mindset you want next time you enter that same environment. Whether you already have a favorite poet or poem or just want to start looking, you can begin today. Enjoy.

Book, Bell and Candle

One of the greatest series of tests are in fact driven by Bell, Book, and Candle. It was common practice for me in my early years to use these items to learn to develop the true attunement of myself to the manipulation and control of forces. These are done in this order. Book builds intuition and focus. Simply put, close eyes, on a book you know intimately well. Dwell in your mind, and focus on a passage. With eyes closed, open the book until you feel you have opened it to the correct passage. Later, I began to use a deck of ordinary cards, and then a Tarot Deck for this as well. My first book was a book of psalms, called a Tehillim. But to be honest, there are times when a comic book the size of a novel was just as effective for this test. When you get good. blindfolded, open the page, and try to see the page. Bell build awareness and presence. Blindfold with a pentagram on the front. Choose a name of a spirit, my first was - well - i am not sure why that would matter. That was mine. Blindfold yourself, Intone the name, slowly, and then ring the bell. Do this slowly but repetitively until you hear the voice on the carrier signal of the bell's ring. Water nearby can help with reception. The point is NOT to call a spirit, it is to carry your voice on the sound of the bell, and to be able to discern it. Eventually, get to where you can carry your voice on the bell without uttering the word. This is not a test of ventriloquism - it is purse control of subvocal audible communication. When you get to this point, get a person to sit blindfolded and you project a word onto the sound of the bell to see if they can hear the word. Candle. This is vital. it is so vital. Experiment with your diet until by nothing but projective will, at five feet, you can bend the candle flame consistently. Then, work on breathing until you can cause the flame to raise. It helps to push the chi in a cycle through the body before you project it out toward the candle. Finally with a hand stroke five feet away from the candle, you should be able to snuff the flame. Then, work on eliminating the hand stroke until by will the candle can be snuffed. Avoid WORDS of power or names you find attributed to these. None of these - not even the bell require a spirit. I used an angel name - but it does not require it even be a name. The process is more like "bellassisted" telepathic projection - useful in swaying a person in a ritual or even just by clapping the hands once it is truly understood. These are things a magician SHOULD be able to do, any magician. It may require some discipline. It may not be totally consistent. If I am not living the pattern of my own optimized self, I experience trouble with this. It requires adjustment of your lifestyle - too much or too little sleep, food, exercise or relaxation can all be factors. But in magick, not just occultism, not just summoning, not just scholarship or soul-searching. These kinds of exercises are crucial to work. They do not or should not be driven by what you know about yourself, how much you can dump into a sigil, or anything. They are pure manipulations of the most basic kind for Magicians, in the forms of diagnostics.

Book tests insight, intuition, and in advanced stages clairvoyance. Bell tests clairaudience, vibratory control and in advanced stages telepathic suggestion and communication. Candle tests weak force manipulation, force strengthening, and force suppression. Have the courage to fail, and do not expect to pass 100% with ease... but neither prevent yourself from allowing that to happen. After you try daily, for two months, look at your scores from 1 success to 60. Your rates of success can demonstrate much about your strengths, and can reveal interesting things, such as improvement with the bell may accompany issues with the book. I am a bit tired of research and my work in Bardon's system is bringing me back to the roots of my early days of tutelage, in the four times I have undergone such a process in various traditions. I hope this helps some people understand that Magicians do not just have to be mystics, spellcasters, or bound to pacts and summonings. In fact, I am not sure any of those specialties are really effective if you cannot have the basics down to at least 20% consistency at a bare minimum.

Relaxation and Energy Work by Eugene

R. Eugene Laughlin Posted 11 May 2012 - 03:37 PM Not all magick techniques require altered states of awareness (I prefer "awareness" over "consciousness" because of the ambiguous connotations with that word). Basic candle spell-type magick, Hoodoo, and several other folksy types of magick dont. The types of magick that do, more or less, require something like a mild hypnotic trance state include some scrying techniques, with and without devices like a black mirror, a crystal ball, etc., straight up out-of-body type work or astral travel, etc. Well designed ritual work naturally alters ones mental state, as a prelude for invocation/evocation and other magick activities. And while the term trance might be less appropriate in that context, theres no denying that good ritual changes how one feels and what one perceives. The meditative route, suitable for scrying/astral work is well characterized in Rowes Short Course in Scrying, or you could look into the many and various self-hypnosis techniques that have been published in the last 30 years. Theyre all about the same really, with but minor varation, though some people have better luck with this one or that one. If youre thinking that you have some reason why this approach isnt right for you, you may or may not be right about that. Im familiar with scientific studies of hypnosis that do suggest individual differences in hypnotizability, but I would advise you put in a minimum of a year of daily effort before you decide you cant make use of it. Good ritual, on the other hand, should work to move you from one perceptual state to another regardless of where you might fall on the hypnotizability scale, but I should really emphasize the word good there, because theres a lot of bad instruction floating around the internet. The key to good ritual that will change your state is developing the experience of so-called magick energy, something akin to the Eastern concept if Chi. I'll share an instruction I've developed that will prepare you (anyone) for good ritual work. The instruction is part of a larger system and it assumes that you've committed to an average of an hour a day of effort, and that you exercise this specific journaling system. The first section does cover a basic meditation technique, but you don't have to feel you're achieving anything like an altered state of awareness when you practice it. You just need to do exactly what you're instructed to do. The main point isn't really to achieve an "empty" mind state. It's more about learning how to respond to unwanted thoughts with an even emotional tone. In the second part you learn how to experience the sensations of magick energy, and then how to direct it at will. This instruction alone probably won't foster altered states, but you will develop the necessary skills to do the kind of ritual work that does.

Basic Relaxation and Mind Clearing Learning to relax at will has many benefits, such as reduced heart rate/blood pressure, and when practiced regularly tends to support better sleep, enhanced immunity, increased concentration and ability to focus, smoother emotional reactivity, and overall increased vitality. Your daily developmental work sessions will always begin with a simple relaxation and preliminary mindclearing ritual, which will help prevent the routine stresses and concerns of the day from influencing the quality of your developmental experience, and generally sets a good, neutral tone for whatever sort of work may follow. Begin by finding a comfortable seated position, though not too comfortable. A good stiff-backed chair is best for most people, but comfort is a highly personal thing, and can depend greatly on ones general health, history of back problems or other injury, etc. You will have to find your own best setting for this work. As a general rule, a couch or easy chair can be too comfy, and you may find yourself falling asleep while preparing for your developmental work, which of course is not desirable. 1. Sit comfortably with your legs about shoulder width apart and your palms resting on your thighs. Take a few slow, deep, cleansing breaths, in through the nose and out the mouth. 2. Focus your attention on our feet as you continue to breathe deeply. Allow your feet to relax as you exhale. Draw each breath slowly, then feel the tension and stress melt away from your feet with each exhalation. When your feet feel good and relaxed, move your attention up to your ankles, relaxing them with each exhalation in the same manner. Take your time, and when ready, move your attention to your calves and repeat the procedure. Continue on to your thighs, then your pelvic region, your abdomen, chest, shoulders and arms, then your hands, then finally your head, relaxing your scalp and the muscle of your face in the same manner. Once you've covered your entire body, focus your attention on your whole body at once, and relax completely, deeper and deeper with each breath. 3. When you feel completely relaxed, breathe normally through your nose. Focus your attention on the tip of your nose, and feel the air moving in and out as you breathe. Your goal here is to keep your attention on the air moving in and out and to let your internal chatter go quiet. Chances are that you spend a good deal of your relaxation ritual free of chatter, but your goal here is to merely sit in silence, with nothing on your mind but the experience of breathing in and out. We will call this state the meditative mindset. If an extraneous thought enters your mind, don't worry about it. Simply refocus your attention on the air moving in and out of your nose. A common occurrence among beginners is that once they realize their internal chatter has ceased, they will immediately comment to themselves that they are doing it right, which of course is the internal chatter starting up again. You are not to beat yourself up over that or any other thought that comes to mind during this exercise. Just keep refocusing on the air moving in and out of your nose. Continue for several minutes, or for as long as you like. Whenever you feel satisfied, move on to step 4.

4. Take in one last deep, cleansing breath, then shift your body in your seat a little bit. Slowly raise your arms up over your head, lean forward a little bit, arch your back slightly, and lightly stretch your entire upper body. Then lean back in your chair, place your hands on the seat to stabilize yourself, and lightly stretch out your legs. Before moving on to the next technique, practice the relaxation and mind clearing exercise for at least a week, or until you feel you can relax your body and quiet your mind effectively. The Sensations of Magical Energy Your development work begins with learning to sense and direct what is often called magical energy, sometimes referred to as chi, a term borrowed from Eastern cosmological concepts. Opinions about what magical energy is, or what the experience of it means varies considerably in modern magick literature, ranging from the notion of a physical energy that modern physicists have yet to learn to measure but some day will, to a psychosomatic process that is inherently a personal perceptual experience. You are specifically advised to avoid forming a firm opinion at this time. Keep an open mind. What matters is that anyone who engages in the work herein described will come to feel the sensations that are associated with magical energy, and will learn to direct those sensations, even beyond the bounds of their own body. What it all means can be set aside for now. Simply do the work, and attend to the sensations. Part 1 1. Perform the relaxation and mind clearing ritual. 2. Immediately after your light stretching, reposition yourself to a comfortable seating, and extend your hands out in front of you, about chest high, palms facing each other about six inches apart. 3. Focus your attention on both hands at the same time. You will find that within a few seconds to a minute or so that your palms are tingling, maybe vibrating, or possibly warming, and/or you may feel an attraction between them drawing them together. Reports vary, reflecting a good deal of subjectivity to the experience, but the simple act of focusing your attention on both hands at once in this manner does, nearly universally, facilitate a particular qualitative experience, which can be easily replicated once experienced. 4. Once an identifiable experience begins, narrow your focus to where the sensations are most intense. You will find that so doing intensifies the sensations further. Imagine that the sensations in your palms as a thread connecting them. As you focus in and intensify the sensations, concentrate on making the thread thicker and thicker, to form something like a beam spanning the distance. If after several minutes you are not experiencing sensations as suggested, stop the session for the day and try again the next day. It is common in instructions of this nature to suggest that if you're not feeling the sensations you may assume there is an energy there and to move on to other exercises that use the imagined energy in a variety of ways. This instruction, however, requires that you develop consistent,

identifiable sensations before moving on. Most people develop the sensations within the first couple of sessions, but some people take longer and that is nothing to worry about. Most importantly, do not be tempted to tell yourself you feel things that you don't actually feel. This part of the training is not about your imagination; it's about your sensitivity. Be as patient as you need to be. When you do feel the sensations, focus your attention on them and they should intensify. When you can feel and intensify these sensations, as directed, practice steps 1 through 4 as given for at least a week more before moving on to part 2. If after a week or so of daily effort you do not develop identifiable sensations, feel free to contact the training administrator to discuss the issues and to develop a more personalized approach. Part 2 Following your regular relaxation and mind clearing exercise, carry out steps 1 through 4 as you have been practicing, then continue on as follows. 5. Concentrate on making the beam thicker and stronger. When you feel it is as strong as you make it, shape it into a ball. 6. When you feel you have successfully formed an energy ball, imagine that it is moving up your right arm. Direct the ball to move slowing up the length of your arm, into your shoulder, across your back, then back down your left arm, coming to rest once again between your hands. Repeat this circulation a few times. Work on steps 5 and 6 for a few days, until you feel competent at it, then add steps 7-9. 7. Starting with the energy ball between your hands, turn your palms upward and allow the energy ball to rest on your palms for a moment. Cause it to rise a few inches. Notice that even though it no longer seems to be in physical contact with you, you can still feel it, radiating energy. You will find that in this form, you can feel it as sensations on your face and your chest as well as your hands and arms. Rest your hands on your thighs while maintaining focus on the energy ball floating in the air before you, feeling its radiation. You may need to practice this technique for several days before moving on to step 8. You will know you are ready when you can generate a viable energy ball at will, and you can cause it float in front you with your palms resting on your lap, and you can distinctly feel the energy ball as sensations on your skin wherever it shines. 8. With the energy ball floating in front of you, cause it to rise and move to a position above your head. You will probably feel it at the top of your head as a tingling or itch at first. Take in a deep breath, then as you exhale draw the energy ball down into your body, through the top of your head, down through your chest, and groin, through your legs and down to your feet (all during the course of a single exhalation), and then as you inhale, draw the energy ball right back up through your body, coming to rest just above your head (through the course of a single inhalation). Gently exhale. Take a few normal breathes, relax, then repeat the sequence several times without breaks: take in a deep breath, bring the

energy ball down through your body as you exhale, and then back up again as you inhale, repeat as many times as desired. Here again you may need to practice for a few days or a week or more until you feel competent at this technique. Once you feel you can do it well, practice it for at least another full week before moving to on to step 9. 9. You're now free to explore ways of moving the energy ball around your body. Experiment with how far you can make it go and still feel it. Bring it to rest in various places near or within your body to see how it feels, etc. Let your intuition and inspiration be your guide here. Be sure to document your experiments in your magick journal. In all cases, regardless of which step you are working on, it's a good idea to do a little light stretching at the end of your session, then make your journal entry immediately. The longer you wait, the greater the chance of forgetting something, or misremembering things, etc. After that, it's a good idea to have a light snack. If you plan on going to bed shortly after, it's not a good idea to eat a lot. But a few bites of something will help bring you back down to earth, so to speak. Do the relaxation and mind clearing ritual, and your energy work every day until you have mastered all of the steps and have spent at least a week exploring at step 9. At this point, you're ready to move on to phase 2.

Uvodna energetska vezba pre evokacije

Bai Lung! 1. Eyes open or closed, whatever your prefer. Focus on the space in front of you a few feet away. Visualize, with your mind, a mass of energy in the air in that space in front of you. Don't focus on the color, just let it be whatever it is: grey, white, blue, whatever. Also, don't try and "shape" it. Let it be whatever shape comes. (Keep in mind that this first step isn't actually part of... the technique, per se. It's complicated, lol. I mean, the visualization helped me personally get a grasp (pun intended) on the notion of moving energy.) 2. Using your hands, reach forward and into that mass of energy - then pull it apart. Open it. Don't think about what's beyond it, that's not important right now. Just try and feel the actual energy on your hands when you reach into the mass. 3. Close it. Using your hands, grasp the sides of the energy and pull it back shut. Conclude with whatever banishing rituals or such that you're comfortable with, if any at all. Though they won't really be NECESSARY, they can lend a sense of comfort and protection, which some might find appealing after the experience of creating a space where spirit can manifest.

Astral Sight

It's a visible appearance but it's astral sight which has to be achieved through training unless your one of those lucky ones whose brain is wired to preceive both planes. There's a fairly easy way to do that. Blindfold your eyes work on learning to see your hands moving off the the side blindfolded and preferably in a semidark room. You'll see only shadows at first but you can work it up to where you can see the shape clearly enough. Once you do that try to preceive the shape of a room.... animals moving around in the house are also good to practice with then spirits. It's really not too big a deal you just have to do some rewiring of your visual circuit in your brain. By frequent practice thats how it's done. When you get to doing evocation you start out not really seeing much maybe feeling a presence.... I get queasy sometimes with spirits or feel a cold chill. The spirit doesn't have to be visible to do the work . That simple exercise is much more fun than just meditating and you can visually see progress which gives feedback and reinforcement. edited because of brainfarts.

Basic Invocation Method

Clean your working space. Put things away, sweep, dust. Keep the area tidy throughout the working. At new moon, arrange a shrine to the deity or force you wish to invoke. This should be done in such a way that everything there is harmonious to that purpose. At a minimum, an inspirational image and a place to make some small offering (I usually do tea lights, incense and / or fresh water) is what you want. Every day, preferably at the same time of day, for the next two weeks, give yourself some time for devotion. This means making your daily offering, and then sitting in contemplation of the deity or force, thinking about what it means and how that is reflected in your life. This needn't be a terribly lengthy process. Ten minutes is probably adequate, but follow your intuition. During this time that is, during these two weeks find or compose a verse or short passage describing, praising and asking to receive the blessing or influence of the deity or power. If this is in your own words, so much the better. You may revise this through the period, as your devotions suggest improvements or points you wish to emphasize. At the full moon, you will perform the invocation proper, although all of this preliminary effort is actually integral to the process. You'll put the finishing touches on your passage or verse, and put this at your shrine. Then bathe and put on clean clothes and, if possible, something you will wear especially for this invocation. If you have magical vestments, wear those. For short, it can be something as simple as a particular necklace, ring or other accessory. When you are bathed and dressed, approach your shrine. Make your offering, from a place of deep sincerity, as usual. Then take a few calming breaths and when you feel ready, read or recite your verse or passage. Again, sincerity is key. When you have finished your address, be still and receptive. Open yourself to experiencing the force you invoked. Reflect. Take as long as you like with this. Don't try to make yourself feel anything, just be open to what happens. It may seem that nothing does at that time. You may find that the experience of the deity or force comes along later, unexpectedly. For now, just make yourself an empty vessel. When you feel it is time to be done, then give a few words of thanks and respect to conclude. Take off whatever special thing you are wearing, and go do something ordinary, like having something to eat. Congratulations. You have performed an invocation.

Shamanisticka Evokacija

By RezaTwiceDead The Experiment: Pick a Entity that you would consider friendly and pleasant should you meet it. Basic research would be helpful, as you need to know of 4 objects associated with the Entity. Find a place near your house where you can eat lunch regularly. Take four objects, one of which is small enough to hold in your pocket, on the ground. Put the small one in your pocket. Draw a circle around the three objects, nothing fancy. Keep the other object in your pocket. When you eat lunch, look at each object in the circle one at a time. Say out loud "Object 1 in the Circle looks like the Item A of Entity I wish to summon.", when you stare at Object 1. Do this for all three in the circle. Eat your food but stop at the last bite, say, "I wonder if Entity would like some food." Consider the question, if any response you get is not enough for you, then say "I guess not." then eat the last bite. Take the last object out of your pocket, look at it and say "This sort of looks like Item D of the Entity I wish to summon. Hmm, does it?" Wait as if for a response, if an appropriate response does not occur then say, "No, it doesn't." Put the object back in your pocket and then walk away. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Do the Experiment as posted, keep it simple. I would prefer that you gain the evidence yourself, later you may prefer it as well. The way it is designed, it will be followed properly by keeping a few things in mind: 1) Do it regularly 2) Choose your Friend wisely.(I assumed that everyone would pick something that would leave them alone if asked. Bai's Angel recommendation is a good one.) 3) Be knowledge of the Friend you choose. I assumed that you would redraw the Circle everytime (and therefore eventually get a deeply engraved Circle that would require effort to open), but something more durable and requiring less effort, such as a simple set of heavy stones arranged in a Circle will work just as well. Pay attention to any disturbances that occur during the pauses designed into the Experiment. If you do not find anything that happens to be conclusive on whether or not the Entity exists only in your mind or not, then continue the Experiment. As followed the Experiment has a default state that claims "not conclusive Contact", the pauses are where the Experiment can easily be modified such that this basic premise changes.

If the 3 Objects somehow get outside the Circle, place them back inside and do the Experiment as usual, unless you find this conclusive or it leads to something conclusive. The Small Object that almost looks like it belongs to the Entity is possibly useful, but more or less inapplicable until you find something conclusive. The Experiment is designed to generate Contact with the Entity to a degree that you will not be able to reasonably claim was only a product of your mind. I am drinking a Pepsi. The Pepsi is in fact a product of my own mind as is everything else I percieve -- but it is not limited to my own mind, this makes it real. Everyone here has had dealings with the Spirits, and anyone here who has read the Experiment given can tell you at least two ways to shut down any unwanted effects from it, or to magnify its effects. Keep in contact if you try it. I devised a couple of rules for a set of difficult situations, they've proven themselves very useful and would work just as well no matter what sort of ground you find yourself on: 1) If I, the people I interact with daily, and random people off the street who I screen via a proven technique (my methodology relies on Exorcisms,Angels andFriendly Spirits etc., the method itself will be idiosyncratic to the individual's experiences) act as if it is real -- then I must deal with it no matter what I want to believe. 2) If given a choice between two equally valid beliefs (both supported by evidence etc) that are contradictory (i.e.both cannot be true): Seperate each, and assume each is individually true by itself. "Which has more dangerous consequences should it be ignored?" Pick that one, until it is invalidated by a authenticated source. The rules are conservative and reactive in that they only concern what you have to deal with, but they have worked soundly in showing how "real" a phenomena is a clear sensible way. All of these things are related to the Experiment, and the larger world that you are not quite sure you are a part of.

Subjective Synthesis

I know I'm a Johnny come lately to this thread but I would like to point out a few things about Joseph's work. I think that what you guys are missing is the fact that as a part of his system you are supposed to actually build the state of subjective synthesis as a part of your training... it acts as a sort of initiation. Furthermore, what he is trying to do is cause work in critical thinking from the perspective of the system being practiced (whatever the system in question may be). One may need to become a Christian if the magic is to work if by their philosophical reasoning from the perspective of the system they come to that conclusion but this doesn't mean that one has to become a Christian in order to practice magic. In fact he has said that Hermetic Magic by Stephen Flowers (another writer that has used the term subjective synthesis with seemingly the same intent in his Nine Doors of Midgard) provides a system capable of providing a balanced and effective subjective synthesis for practicing magic based upon the Greek Magical Papyri... a decidedly Pagan system... in fact the very definition of the term Pagan. What really seems necessary is a set of distinctions from the perspective of the system you are trying to work. The mental wiring has to be complete and effective, we aren't just talking about a nebulous "belief system" or "believe it and it will be" positive thinking mantra but a fundamental way of splitting up the world that causes things to happen when you manipulate those things which the new subjective synthesis distinguishes. It is the basis for a system of logic upon that world view. If you try to perform the LBRP after you've worked out a Chinese system of subjective synthesis you won't be manipulating from the right world view, you need different tools, actions and thoughts. Any computer programmers out there? we are talking about the difference between typing into a computer "do this..." and programming it from the language that it was designed to understand... likewise the mind has to be given an operating system and the orders have to be given to it according to that operating system. try putting a mac disk in a windows machine and see what happens. This is what he means by building a balanced subjective synthesis. Even if you have a book that tells you the philosophy of a magical system you must use critical thinking and "Modern Socratic Method" to question all of the parts from the perspective of the system you are trying to build up in your soul as if they were right from the start (a-priori) until they all fit together, and its truth is obvious with each individual point leading in YOUR mind naturally to the next.

This is something you would have to do even if you were a Christian and wanted to practice the system of the fourth book of Agrippa. it is a way of controlling one's own mind on a deep level and allowing it to master belief for practical benefit, instead of being mastered by belief. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------By cirka09 hi. Yeah, I've found it difficult too, frankly having read more of his stuff like his now defunct newsletter he really didn't want you to get it unless you work it out for yourself. That being said, if you read all his work you can extrapolate what he meant. When he says to create your own system he includes the grimoires in the statement! He sees the grimiore as a starting place for creating a system in yourself which shows the needed elements of that system as it will be in your being by the end of the process of creating a balanced subjective synthesis in yourself. So in the case of using the Heptameron it has everything you need in order to create your own magical system in your being, you just have to do the work of putting it there. it's like a blueprint that you have to follow in order to build your own house. You still have to do the work of making it into a house and the methods that you use to get from here to the finished product are your own... the blueprint doesn't show you where to put every nail, nor does it show you what kind of pipes and wires to use in the walls, that requires your own expertise. But if you say "well then what use is a blueprint" or "why don't I just build it the way I think it should look and add a room onto the second floor because I don't think the blueprint is right" then you are going to get into trouble. There is no single "science of archetectual engineering" to teach you how to build a system of magic as a blueprint from the start in the case of magic, but there are complete systems produced in the context of various cultures which work and can be practiced in order to get the idea of what a working system of magic looks like, feels like, "thinks like" and works! Joe's argument is that in order to be able to even start to learn how to do real, effective magic you have to go through the arduous process of arguing from the perspective of a specific system of magic from inside its own head. You can't look at the Heptameron and say "well, I don't believe in Jesus so I'll just perform the LBRP instead of work on my faith" That is like looking at the blueprint and saying that you want a greatroom on the second floor instead of the bathroom you have in the plans... it just won't work structurally. Likewise if you see that a grimoire calls for a lion skin then if you expect it to work you damn well better get a lionskin, not from a plush toy either. You don't say to yourself "well, I don't have access to one so I'll just have to make due..." that is like saying "well, I don't have a load bearing beam, I might was well nail this particle board together, it's the same dimensions and it has a nice wood grain print on it so it shold work..." nope... someone is going to die from something like that. So what needs to be doen is you have to learn by asking yourself why you need the lion skin, not in a sarcastic way but in a serious way, and you have to do so from the perspective of internal consistency with the culture and the system you are studying. You have to think from the mind of the people who worked the system without assuming they are wrong... they were the ones that wrote the thing and

worked miracles with it, not you. They know what they are doing unlike a novice to their system (you are the novice unless you have done what they did as they said you should do it and know why it works). This is the reason Joe says what he says about not mixing systems. if you mix systems you might be putting rooms on your house that don't fit together and have different purposes so that you might not even have a bathroom in the new house... how well is it going to work then? As far as his mention of Kabballah in the Heptameron, you have to realize a few things. There is no standard Kabbalah, even the Sepher Yetzirah has thousands of commentaries from the middle ages alone and the writers of those commentaries couldn't agree on anything other than the fact that it was a holy book... although there were detractors too so there you have it. Also the Kabbalah of one group was often contradictory to the Kabbalah of another group. The Sepher Yetzirah is in fact in direct opposition to the concept of having Daath on the tree... in fact the Sepher Yetzirah never mentions the tree of life as a glyph because it was written before the concept was created... infact it was a jesuit priest that first put the tree of life down on paper and there is no evidence, direct or otherwise that the tree as we have it in Western Hermetisism was ever a part of the jewish tradition until after some Kabbalists saw the tree and said it was a good idea... even then they said well, the tree should really be like this or that with different versions that fixed the Catholic bias by making the connection to the supernal triad more direct (no "abyss" in these trees, that was a Catholic concept of the divine separate from creation except by way of the intercession of a priest). Add to that what was already said about the Heptameron being a complete system that has proven itself through the ages and you can see where the problem is... even though it has elements of Kabbalah intrinsic to the system, the system is not all Kabbalistic, and even if it was, then which Kabbalah? The system shows every bit as many points of intersection with old Hermetism as it does with Jewish mysticism and may in fact show more, meaning that Hermetic syncretism absorbed the Jewish elements but the system is primarily built upon a Hermetic (Greco-Egyptian late antique Hermetism, not new western Hermeticism) floor plan. The people that developed the system knew how to engineer a magical system and knew how to make it work because they did the work of creating a subjective synthesis on the earlier model and fine tuned it after they made it work and "got it". The thing that really gets Joe wrankled is the fact that every johnnie come lately with a copy of Magick in Theory and Practice thinks that they are the reincarnation of Merlin after doiing some "concentration exercises" "visualization exercises" and "meditated" (want to have some fun? ask a room full of spriritual types what they think the word "Meditation" means and you'll see just how precise andf scientific we can be... or not...). The Heptameron mentions NONE of these things but modern Ceremonial magicians think they knw something about the grimiore! The truth of the matter is that it is one thing to reverse engineer a magical text through hard mental work of making yourself fit the time and mold to get it right and then build your own system that is more appropriate for the times from that place of understanding through experience where real,

powerful magic comes from, but quite another to do what most people do and assume that they know better what the writers of the grimiores meant than they did themselves. Hope this helps and I hope I didn't type your eyes out but I really think that Joe is undervalued and is very much misunderstood (although he really didn't help matters with his attitude). If you want to actually build a subjective synthesis upon a particular model but don't know whre to start, try looking up "Modern Socratic Method" and you'll be able to start to see how unfocused most of our ideas are in the first place. I've been building my subjective synthesis based upon the "Definitions of Hermes", the "Corpus Hermetica" "On the Mysteries" by Iamblicus and a few other philosophical texts and the Greek and Demotic Magical Papyrii as well as Gager's book on Curse Tablets and Binding. Take it easy and many blessings, Rob --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------No problem. I should also point out that I don't really agree with everything he says, however this is a very powerful technique even though it is very difficult and time consuming. One thing he doesn't mention is what to do in order to reverse what you have done if you find the subjective synthesis too confining or not in synch with what you are trying to accomplish in life in general. For that you should do the exact oposite of what you did to get to this place and use what is called Classical Socratic Method. The difference between classical and modern Socratic Methods is that the Modern for uses leading questions to evoke a specific end point, that is an understanding from within of a specific subject like base 2 mathematics. The Classical method on the other hand is to use leading questions to unlearn what you think that you know (I hear Yoda Approving lol). http://www.socraticmethod.net/ The above is a great place to get a feel for the method from a teacher's perspective. When you sincerly question the things you hold to be true, they usuall tend to disappear, opening up a lot of energy bound up in those previously held beliefs. This is a powerful exercise but most people don't pay it any attention because it isn't easy or fast, but nothing else works like it. Take it easy and many blessings, Rob

Synchronicity

Everyone has had a synchronicity before, a meaningful coincidence. Fun stuff it can be. But for some people it can get downright scary, and dangerous. It can be a serious test upon your sanity if you are among those who get hit with 'syncs' often. Up until a few years ago I could count all the syncs ive had in my life on one hand. Then in 2009 I had some experiences which led me to change a lot of inner and outer perceptions, which snowballed into more perceptual changes. During this period i started having a lot of synchronicities. It became... overwhelming. I started a log book to track my syncs and see what other connections i might find among them. It seemed to get out of hand at times. Anywhere from 10 to 50 synchronicities per DAY for up to two weeks straight at times. That is psychotic! Or is it? Its definitely not normal, but due to the frequency and intensity of them, I had to play skeptic, play detective, to keep my sanity. A sense of humor helps too. When I would get hit with a sync, or a series of them with a common theme, i had to check myself. Am i being delusional? Am i constructing fantasy...or reality? Am i seeing fantasy...or reality? What are the odds, really, that this event and that event occur so close together, do not appear causally related yet are related in their symbolism and meaning.. to Me. It can get really hard. Some syncs seem like an affirmation or acknowledgement from another source...my higher self, spirits, the multiverse, whatever. Sometimes the syncs seem to be warnings. Others seem to be advice, yet many times too ambiguous for me to choose the right path. Other syncs seem to purposely test my sanity, a purpose-built deception...possibly a self-deception, to see if i run with it. What is amazing are the syncs that have fluttered my heart, made my eyes pop out, the ones that gave me cold chills. Also, the ones that made me really laugh. Its nice to know the 'author' aka 'architect' of this 'matrix' has a sense of humor. Some syncs i have taken action on, others i waited for more info. If anything at all i appreciate how they open my eyes and make me think in new directions, whether there was real substance to the synchronicity or not.

I have soooooo many great stories, and some of the best ones involved other people who witnessed or were part if the sync whereas they were left bewildered and stupified. Most people get scared when you talk about crazy coincidences and just think you are crazy... but then when they experience them with you, you make them believers of either the paranormal, or...that you are nottt crazy...or, lol, they must be crazy too. Now with all my experiences, and i logged a few thousand synchronicities since 2009, i have learned to seperate the strong serious ones from the not so serious probably fantasy ones. I can detect waves of them and even predict them at times... when i start to see patterns, meaningful ones, i will test the message, and call for a particular person, place, thing, sign, symbol, whatever, within a certain deadline period with a low probability factor of occuring in the first place, to distinguish if i need to take this message serious or just float it in mind. Now with all that said, it makes me wonder just what is going on at times. I have my theories. And this all ties into the core of it all... magick. Ive considered magick, like most here, as say.... controlled synchronicity. But tje times when i got bombarded with syncs, i start losing grip. Of reality. ... Am i in a dream? Am i awake? Is this the MATRIX? Am i just a brain in a vat somewhere and all this is an elaborate simulation? So much is possible and i wonder these things after experiencing... what is 'impossible' or 'improbable'. I know odds. I know biases. It would be more comforting to prove myself wrong it seems. LoL. So i just wanted to throw some thoughts here on this subject. Im sure you all have some great stories of synchronicities. I may share some of mine. I do enjoy sharing mine with the skeptical minds who may point out factors or biases i may have not considered. Either way... whatever or whoever is the cause of synchronicities, it is my opinion that the important thing is not the cause, and may not even be the 'message', but simply how it changes the way you look at this world, and especially, yourself and your role in this...world. PS. I typed all this on my phone so please excuse any grammar errors or strange autocorrects lol

Vibrating Names

Raum: First of all, there is some GREAT advice here. I am going to add to it though - and perhaps touch upon something important. You already do vibrate. We all do. That is how even basic speech is produced by vibration of your vocal cords. ALL speech by a magician is a sort of intonation. What you are seeking is properly speaking the way magicians use this - and this differs from magician to magician. Your voice will NEVER sound to you like it does to others. I could go into the mechanics of cranial acoustics, but it would just detract from the real point. Basically you hear the sound of your voice through the subwoofer of your skull. So if you are trying to "sound" a specific way - you have to decide if you want to sound that way to yourself or to others. In the case of Evocation Magick and any type of speaking with other persons, you want to concern yourself with how you sound to others. Do not concern yourself if your voice sounds too low or too high. It is PRESENCE you want to convey, not pitch. Hold an ordinary piece of paper in front of you. Begin to hum, and then open your mouth. Focus on your fingertips holding the paper - feel them vibrate? Even a little? Do this a few more times. Opening your mouth and closing, paying attention to the difference. What you may notice is that when you close you mouth your body vibrates. When you open it - the energy of the vibration is conveyed to the paper. Since the rest of your body is releasing more of the energy of the vibration to act upon the paper - the sensation of vibrating is greater in the nerve endings of your fingertips which are far from the mouth, bodily, but the paper acts as a bridge for the energy. This is why the Book is itself a powerful magical tool. It is a bridge for the vibrational energy. Now experiment with how close you can get the paper to physically move with your open mouthed humming. You may see something interesting, which starts to illustrate something that is alled "frequency" - the HIGHER the sound of a SOLID tone - the greater the vibration. thus the louder the

sound. Note, I said "solid" - As we go through life, we all engage in activities that damage our vocal cords - and destroy their symmetry - to varying degrees. This means we can lose range and control of our voice. But for pre-talmudic Qabala, it does not matter. in fact, we do not concern ourself with tone because we do not think of the sound - we think of the origin of the utterance in the body based on the four Mothers and the Five gutterals. The five gutterals are: Aleph - Saturn - top of mouth Heh - Venus - cavity of mouth Cheth - Jupiter - top of throat Ayin - Mars - middle of throat Resh - Mercury - chest, bottom of throat This is attributes as understood far before the Sepher Yetzirah or the Zohar. They are based on the actual oral tradition of how to see yourself as a vehicle of the Ruach Elohim and to see our speech as its movement through the world. The Sun and the Moon are Luminaries - and not considered planets properly. They correlate to Yod and Vau - along with Heh and Aleph, form the four mothers (Materes Lectiones) in Latin, and show how to READ the language properly from a written script. So as you can see, Saturn, from the top of the mouth is where a higher pitch would come - having a greater frequency, which would be required for the greater distance, and this progresses down the path of sound in our bodies to the IN-YO-FACE-Mercury which is in the chest - as close to the sun and moving as fast as he can - because the lower vibration is closer to a straight line - but when it raises to high in the body, it runs aground of mars and has to backtrack (retrograde). This does not mean you should do your intonations in a falsetto or a baritone - you should do them FROM the right place in your body - and in general they will match perfectly with the tone at which you most effect the paper. There is physics to it, but I will spare you that part of this lesson. If you move the center of the sound in your body to where the gutturals appear in a word - your voice will waver a bit - bending not breaking. The consonants shape the gutturals. In some names such as "Adonai Ha-Aretz" this can be very dramatic. Also note if you have a sound like Aleph - which is not the same as "AH" but more like a "eh" - you can take a AH open-mouthed and raise it to the top of your mouth and see the difference in the tone - which makes it more like the proper sound. If you follow the guidance on how to produce sound from your body, anatomically - it is not the same as trying to just mimic a sound - it becomes an operation itself to produce the sound. Eh (sound starts at top of mouth, it is not AH, which is cavity of mouth.)

Duh (Place the tongue on the back ridge above the upper teeth, and let the breath drop to the middle of the throat, then release, the sound of the accompanying partial tonal should be between a long "o" and a short "u".) Nah (suddenly raise the tongue and flip the tip of it along that same ridge behind the upper teeth, partial tonal is between "ah" - and "uh") yeh (flatten the tongue on the base of the mouth to where the sides touch the side teeth, and slowly work the jaw closed as you close the throat. the partial tonal is between long "a" and long "e", sounds between yay and yee) Ha- (Middle or Cavity of Mouth) - cut off breath and shift it Eh (top of mouth) Ru (raise tongue to the top of the mouth but not touching, and release it to point exactly forward. there is almost a hit of "u" at the end as the center of breath drops to the chest, but it is BARELY vocalized, and as much the sound between a long "o" and a long "u" - somewhat like the greek omega) Ehts (push the tongue out slightly, but not out of the mouth, close the teeth** almost touching, push the teeth back open slightly with the tongue and hear the "hiss" of the breath) ** don't bite your tongue Your pronunciation may vary - then again so do different dialects. For magick and the intonation of divine names - I advise you become very familiar with the proper mechanics of how the sound is produced - not what they sound like. This is where I would strive for consistency - sound is a byproduct of speech which is only possible in an atmosphere. There is no atmosphere in the astral. Speech is not about sound - sound is a medium for measuring speech.
