Laser Printer 10R/10 Plus, 12 Series, 16 Series, Optra R & L Hold down READY and RETURN while powering on the printer until the display reads PERFORMING SELF TEST. Select MAINTENANCE COUNT. Select RESET to return the count to zero. Press RETURN to return to the Diagnostics Mode main menu, then reset printer to normal mode. Optra S Series Enter Diagnostics Mode by holding down GO and RETURN while powering on the printer. When the display reads PERFORMING SELF TEST, release the buttons. When ready, the display will read PRINT REGISTRATION. If 80 SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE appears, press GO to enable the menus. Otherwise skip this step and go to step 4 Scroll to PRINTER SETUP and press SELECT. Scroll to MAINTENANCE PAGE COUNT and press SELECT. Scroll to RESET MAINTENANCE COUNT and press SELECT to reset the count to zero. Press the RETURN button to return to the Diagnostics Mode main menu, then exit Diagnostics Mode to return to normal mode.

Optra T/T Series Hold down SELECT and RETURN while powering on the printer until the display reads PERFORMING SELF TEST. After the self test, the display will read CONFIG MENU MAINT CNT VALUE (if the display is showing the 80 SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE message, you may have to press GO to enable the menu). Press until MAINTENANCE PAGE COUNT is displayed. Press SELECT. RESET should be displayed. Press SELECT again. Press RETURN to return to the Configuration Menu and press to exit the Configuration Menu. Optra T640/42/44 Press and hold and while powering on the printer. When PERFORMING SELF TEST appears on the display, release the buttons. CONFIG MENU will appear in the display. Press to scroll through this menu until you see RESET MAINT CNT and press . The display will read RESET. When this happens, press again, this will reset the maintenance counter. To exit this menu, cycle the power on the printer.

NVRAM Initialization Initializing the NVRAM resets the serial number, event log, pages counts, EIO cards and calibration settings. Before initializing NVRAM, print a configuration page and menu map to gather this information for re-entry after the initialization. HP Color LaserJet 4700/CP4005/5500/5550: (4700 & CP4005 message will only appear when the printer is asking for a kit.) Press until the display reads CONFIGURE DEVICE. Press then until the display reads RESETS and press . Press again until the screen reads RESET SUPPLIES and press . From here you can reset the fuser and the transfer belt maintenance life.

HP Color LaserJet 4600/4650: After Maintenance is performed, the display should read NEW FUSER KIT = Press to select YES, then press to reset OR enter CONFIGURE DEVICE in menus, choose RESETS then RESET SUPPLIES, choose NEW FUSER KIT and select.

HP Color LaserJet 8500/8550: Press MENU until RESETS MENU is displayed. Press ITEM until RESET FUSER LIFE COUNT is displayed. Press SELECT to reset. Press GO to return to READY.

HP LaserJet 4200/4240/4250/4300/4350/9000: 1. Turn the power on. 2. When 000MB (beginning of the memorycount) appears on the control panel, press and hold down until all 3 printer control panel lights flash once, and then stay on (this may take up to 10 seconds). 3. Release and press until NEW MAINTENANCE KIT is displayed. Press SELECT to reset the maintenance kit counter.

HP 4345mfp/4730mfp/9000/40/50mfp: 1. Turn the printer on. Once the printer starts counting the installed memory press and hold the #6 button until all three LEDs flash once and stay on. Once the LEDs stay on release the #6 button and then press the #3 button once and release it, then press the #6 key again to select New Maintenance Kit. After this is completed the printer should reinitialize.

HP Color LaserJet 4500/4550: Press MENU until RESETS MENU is displayed. Press ITEM until FUSER KIT SELECT IF DONE is displayed. Press SELECT. Press GO to return to READY.

1. Press or until the first digit of the PIN is displayed. Pressing moves you to the next digit; Pressing allows you to go back and correct mistakes. 2. When you select the final digit, you will enter the Service Menu (the 9000 also has a numeric keypad which gives you the option of entering the PIN code directly). Once you're in the menu, scroll to the appropriate maintenance count and set it to all zeroes using the same procedure that you used to enter the PIN number (on the 4200 and 4300, the arrow keys will increment the entire maintenance count, rather than one digit at a time). 3. Back out of the menu with the key, and you're done. For these newer printers, you may first have to go thru the Service menu if instructions are not already shown. From the READY state press to enter the menus, and then scroll to SERVICE and select it. In order to get into the Service Menu, you will now have to enter a PIN code, which is specific to the printer model.
