Use of Sensors in Robotic welding - focus on seam tracking for arc welding

Literature Review

History
The field of robotics did not exist in the early 20th century. The term robot itself was coined from the Czech words robotnik (translates to bondman; drudge; villain) and robota (translated roughly to unpaid labour; drudgery).{{19 LangSoft}} The development of computers and automation continued until the first industrial application of robotics, which came in the form of the Unimate, which was installed at General Motors in 1961. The leader of the Unimate project, Joseph Engelberger, is widely held to be the Father of Robotics, and by 1983 Unimation had a turnover of $70 million.{{11 Stone, Wesley L. 2005}} Academic development of computing and interest in robotic automation led to further focus on sensing and reactive technologies, as can be seen in the early volumes of the 1982launched International Journal of Robotics Research.{{20 Various 1982}} As early
