Presently, he is the Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director of Industries and Commerce and is mainly responsible for policy formulation, trade development and industrialisation of the State of Karnataka across various spectrums of investments, sectors and regions. Mr Maheshwar has occupied this post since June 2011. Earlier, he was the Special Commissioner of the Bangalore City Corporation and has handled issues pertaining to approval of building plans, infrastructure in the city, and urban renewal in cities. Mr Rao has had the distinction of having handled delegation visits of the Mayor of San Francisco as part of the San Francisco sister city programme in late 2009. Dr Murali Kallummal has been working at the Centre for WTO Studies (CWS), New Delhi in the capacity of Associate Professor. He has been working in this capacity at the CWS since 2003.
