Hello! Thank you for your interest in working at ARCh Camp Pow Wow in the summer of 2013!

We are currently looking for talented, compassionate, and dedicated individuals who would love to spend their summer swimming, kayaking, playing, singing, dancing, shing, gardening, cooking, crafting, laughing, and helping others, all while being in the great outdoors. Most importantly, they should also have an interest in making a difference in their community and in the lives of our campers and their families! If this describes you, we would love to have you apply! Please read through the rest of this letter for additional information. ARCh Camp Pow Wow is a summer camp experience for kids and adults with a wide range of disabilities. We are the only camp in the area that does not turn campers away based on their disability, giving campers and staff an opportunity to interact with a wide range of people on a daily basis. Our program offerings include Arts and Crafts, Music, Recreation/ Nature, Waterfront, and a new program called Life Experiences, where we will be working on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). We also have special guests scheduled frequently throughout the summer, which give campers and staff a nice break from the daily schedule. ARCh Camp Pow Wow offers both day camp and residential camp. We offer 6 weeks of day camp throughout the summer, including 4 weeks of kids camp for campers age 5 - 21, and 2 weeks of adult camp for campers age 22 and up. For day camp weeks, staff work daily from 8:30 a.m. 3:30 p.m., Monday Friday. However, on Thursday nights of day camp weeks, campers stay overnight in our platform tents. On these nights, all staff who are over age 18 stay with the campers for a night of traditional camp activities, including all-camp swims in the quarry, all-camp games, and a campre. Some staff will have the opportunity for additional hours with our extended hours program that we offer to our campers families. If you are interested, please check the box on the attached survey and we will discuss further if offered an interview. In addition to our day camp sessions, we offer 2 weeks of residential camp, including one week of kids camp and one week of adult camp. For residential weeks, campers and staff over age 18 stay over at camp from Monday at 8:30 Friday at 3:30. Campers and staff alike have an incredible, life-changing week of camp activities, usually resulting in an intense bond among staff and campers - these weeks are when the camp family truly forms! Staff over age 18 are required to be available to work both weeks of residential camp, although they may not be required to work both weeks, depending on camper enrollment. We are currently hiring for Lifeguards, Nurses (R.N. or B.S.N.), Instructors (Arts and Crafts, Music, Recreation, and Life Experiences), Counselors (age 18+), and Junior Counselors (age 16 - 17). Depending on your position, duties while at camp are not limited to, but do include: Assisting campers to complete the program activities. This may include actually doing the activity yourself - kickball is MUCH more fun if staff and campers participate! Making sure that all members of your group are accounted for at all times Writing daily notes home to parents communicating the events of the day Assisting with behavior management

Personal care assistance, including toileting and feeding (staff over age 18 only) Ensure camper safety throughout the day Have Fun!!! Of course, with the exception of having fun, we dont expect you to already know how to do these things, so we provide training the week before camp starts. As a 12-year camp staff veteran of different camps across the country, I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly in camp staffs. I can honestly say that ours is the best camp staff in the business. The one thing that all of our staff have in common is that they are all exceptional there are no mediocre staff people at ARCh Camp Pow Wow. Our staff comes from all over the Milwaukee area. Some are college graduates, but most are college and high school students. About half of them are involved in special education (either a special ed teacher or studying to be a special ed teacher, occupational therapist, etc.) and looking to gain additional experience, while the other half are individuals who either A) love camp; B) love working with people with disabilities; or C) both A and B. Please know that staff positions at ARCh Camp Pow Wow are extremely competitive after all, we are the best camp staff in the business so we make our hiring decisions based on who we think will best serve the campers and ARCh Camp Pow Wow. With this in mind, you will need to ll out your application and survey thoroughly and have a strong application, survey, and interview in order to be hired as a camp staff person in 2013. Also important to note is that in order to work as a staff person at ARCh Camp Pow Wow this summer, you must be available for all of the camp weeks, as well as the entire training. For the summer of 2013, the weeks are scheduled thusly: 6/10/13 - 6/14/13 Staff Training (Overnight 6/13 6/15) 6/17/13 - 6/21/13 6/24/13 - 6/28/13 7/1/13 - 7/5/13 7/8/13 - 7/12/13 7/16/13 7/15/13 - 7/19/13 7/22/13 - 7/26/13 7/29/13 - 8/2/13 8/5/13 - 8/9/13 8/12/13 - 8/16/13 Adult Day Camp Kids Residential Off Kids Day Visitors Night Adult Day Camp Kids Day Adult Res Kids Day Adult Day
