I am a new investigator in the area of genetic and molecular epidemiology of cancer. I am interested in identification of genetic and molecular factors influencing risk of cancer as well as factors associated with prognosis and treatment outcomes. I am also currently working on projects to identify molecular factors that may be used to detect and diagnose cancer. My current research focuses on breast and non-small cell lung cancer although I continue to be involved in research on multiple colon cancer projects. I have experience in both genetic linkage studies with family data as well as case-control population data. B. The data collection includes surveying of each patient on demographic and cancer risk factors, abstraction of medical records and collection of blood for buffy coat, serum and plasma banking. These samples and data are collected in order do future projects investigating the ability of microRNAs to discriminate between patients with benign and malignant lesions on imaging as well as other future projects to aid in our understanding of NSCLC.
