Why do you want to attend GHP? The opportunity. The professors and the students.

I will get to meet many peers all interested in the same thing I am, all just as passionate. I will get to learn from many seasoned professionals and gain knowledge from their experience. What will you contribute? My own experience, All State and Sight Reading and HPS, my passion and desire and love of music, and my intention to go into music as a profession. What scares you? The extended time away from family, and that I wont know anyone there. I like to meet new people, but that is a process, and I worry about the time in between. Read done currently in/outside classroom? In: we listen to various pieces by contemporary artists and critique them (Eric Whitacre Sleep). Out: I spend time in an a capella group in which we sing and perform at various resteraunts, stores, and nursing homes. I also take piano/voice lessons to better my music skills. Grades- I think so. I am currently taking college classes and the curriculum level is much higher than high school, and though I struggled a bit last semester, I am confident in my ability to maintain a high grade level. Activities- OCAcapella. We spend time working with pieces and sing in various places, and all the participants love and crave music just as I do. I also enjoy the time when my friends and I do the same, only we dont have the chance to perform, we just do it for fun. Achievement- HPS, though personally, as I have yet to fully experience HPS, I should say All State, because I have made it consistently 5 years in a row. Last Summer- Vacation (Mammoth Cave), Youth Retreat (Big Stuf), and Babysitting (Job) Change HS- Music funding for new music, supplies, and performance oppurtunities. Why select- I can bring with me my passion for music, my experience, but also I want to go into music as a profesion. This isnt just something fun to do- I am learning life skills and knowledge I will use in my eventual field. Failure- an opportunity to try again. A rehearsal for success. Not the best- I dont have to be. In fact, I consider it good because I know I have something to learn from them. Dream Project- MANY all state director, and perhaps start a music program in mexico/Africa. Questions?- rooming situation/free time/socializing time/ sill- piano for my use?
