Congregational Worship Meetings: Now that I have been with you for almost two months, I think that I have a feel for the basic worship life of the congregation. One of the great things about St. Thomas has been the fact that it has three unique services that approach the worship of God in different ways. What would be helpful to me would be to have some general conversations about the services as they are now and what we are happy with and what we would like to expand upon. Even if everything stays exactly the same, it is a worthwhile exercise to review periodically what we are doing, but it is important to include all voices. My proposal therefore is to have three separate service meetings on Sunday, March 3rd, after the individual services. In other words, the 8am service will meet after the 8am service to have a general discussion about the service. The same for the 9 and the 11am in the Teape room. At the AGM, I will have questions for each service to consider for the meetings to help guide our discussions. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or email me. Blessings, Steve+ Companions on the Way: One of the outreach efforts of the Strathcona County Ecumenical Mission is a group called Companions on the Way. The purpose of this group is to provide a day of community and entertainment for many seniors in the area living in long term care facilities. It is an annual event and the people who go to it enjoy the outing and the time very much. At St. Thomas we have been involved for several years with helping the other churches involved to plan and put on the day. This year the day is Tuesday, May 7. We are hoping to find one or two other people from St. Thomas to be on the planning committee who would join Pearl Newman. It is a fairly simple and straightforward commitment. There are a few meetings before hand as well as the day itself. In the future if you wanted to stay on, the planning takes place in the first part of the year. Please consider being a part of this community outreach ministry. If you are interested or have questions please contact Steve in the office.
