SOHAM - Newsletter by Tanuja Thakur - Vol.1 Issue No - 17 1. Suvachan (Words of Wisdom) (a) Quotes of the Master :
His Holiness Dr. Jayant Balaji Athvale Be it the festivals at temples, journeys, or the procession for immersion of Lord Ganesha, on all such occasions, one can see intoxicated people dancing to the tunes of western music. Through such acts, the occasion becomes one not of Gods, but of the demons. Such scenes are not to be found among any other Dharma(followers), participating in any religious programme. Dancing after drinking liquor is a part of the religious programme; such an impression has been formed on the psyche of the new generation. Be totally alert to prevent such instances. Prevention of such acts too is Sadhana (spiritual practice). - His Holiness Dr. Jayant Balaji Athavale. (b) Quotes from the scriptures : 7 7 17 - , Ahanyahani bhuTaani gacchantih Yamalayam Sheshah sthawarmicchanti kimaaScharyamatah param - Mahabharat, Van Parva
Meaning: Everyday, several Jivatmas (embodied souls) proceed to Yamalok (abode of death), implying that they die. Even then, the rest of us remain desirous of attaining immortality, what can be a bigger surprise than this!

(c) Dharma Dhaara
In the absence of Dharmashikshan (education pertaining to Dharma) and Sadhana, todays politicians and householders are unable to give up their status and attachments, even after reaching the final phase of their lives.
Those who read the newspaper while sitting in the toilet do not realise that by doing such an evil act, they are not saving their time, but earning the wrath of Maa Saraswati. In the midst of performing the Seva (service) of Dharma Prasaar (spreading spirituality), I came into contact with many rich and modern families. When I visitied their home, I saw they keep a bunch of magazines and newspaper to read in the toilet. Remember, acquiring Vidya (knowledge) is a Yadnya Karma (sacrificial act) and a book is a means to acquire the knowledge. Whether the knowledge is worldly or spiritual in nature, it is not possible to acquire it without the grace of Goddess Saraswati. Thus, think for yourself how can one become eligible to receive Gods grace by condemning both the books, as well as the process of acquisition of knowledge in such conditions! Hence, avoid committing such sins.
A Hindutvavaadi person came across and said, I am proud that I am a Hindu. I replied, This is really very nice. Please give me 10 reasons that make you a proud Hindu. The gentleman could not tell even four. Hence, Hindus, do not shout yourself hoarse from the rooftops that I am proud to be a Hindu; start knowing about and learning the characteristics of Hinduism!!! Evolve from a Janma Hindu (Hindu by birth) to Karma Hindu (Hindu by deeds)!!
Take out a little time from your practical life to make an effort to do Vyashti (spiritual practice at an individual plane) and Samashti Sadhana (spiritual practice at a societal level). A high-level saint will automatically walk into your life.
The most important element for making spiritual progress is a strong yearning. When we have this quality, we keep overcoming all hurdles and progress on the spiritual path.
In Vedic Dharma, a householder has been asked to perform Panch Mahayadnyas (five sacrificial acts). However, a majority of the householders today do not follow this. As a result, there is an abundance of problems in their lives which have root in the spiritual realm.

SOHAM - Newsletter by Tanuja Thakur - Vol.1 Issue No - 17 Those who became saints had started doing Sadhana since an early age. During old age, when there are many thoughts in the mind, the intellect too gives up and the body becomes disease-ridden, doing Sadhana and attaining God becomes extremely difficult. Moreover, just as one offers only fresh flowers to the Almighty, an old body only creates hurdles in attainment of God.
After death, only the subtlest of the things can go with us. Sadhana is the subtlest and accompanies our subtle Jivatma easily and it also makes the post-death journey easier.
Todays so-called secular Hindus suffer from the epidemic of modernisation. They are the victims of ostentatious love and are not even able to love their own family members, yet they go around preaching brotherhood to people of the entire world. Lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits and Assamese Hindus had to leave their motherland. Such things do not hurt them, but if a Hindu opposes Hussains nude portrayal of our Mother India, their art-loving heart gets offended. For them, those who slaughter cows to eat them and those worshipping a cow, considering a woman as a desirous object and dishonouring her and those respecting a woman as venerable, those desecrating temples and those doing idol worship and temple construction and protection of temples, are all brethren! A person possessing such a mentality does not have any affection for Dharma. They just pretend to be righteuos.
During the student life, willpower is essential for acquiring concentration of mind and self-control . This can be attained only through Sadhana. Todays students are in dire need of Sadhana, but our Nidharmi (anti-Dharma) government has not impressed the importance of Sadhana upon the minds of the youth. Consequently, todays many youth indulge in all kind of immoral acts, addictions and even appear to get involved in heinous crimes such as murders, rapes at an early age. All this is the result of Adharma (unrighteousness) and lack of Sadhana.

SOHAM - Newsletter by Tanuja Thakur - Vol.1 Issue No - 17 (d) Essence of Gita :
Meaning : For the mind which follows in the wake of the wandering senses, carries away his discrimination as the wind (carries away) a boat on the waters. - Shrimad Bhagvat Gita (2: 67)
Implied Meaning : The repression of senses is essential for the seeker to be in unison with God. Just one sense alone can pollute the flow of the thoughts and is capable of destroying ones sense of discrimination. Hence, every mistake, be it big or small, is harmful from the point of view of Sadhana and it cannot be said when that defect will deflect the seeker from the path of Sadhana. History bears testimony that seekers, saints and hermits, who had not attain an unwavering state of mind have gone astray due to just one small mistake. Our personality defects are responsible for it. Hence, a seeker must keep a careful eye on the senses, remove defects and make an attempt to imbibe divine qualities. The manifestation of our defects is through the medium of our mistakes; hence never ignore the mistakes. If the same mistake is repeated again and again, it is known as Akshamya Paap (unpardonable sin). Senses work according to their tendencies and in the absence of a practice of the process of self-control, they can take over the intellect within a few moments. The best solution to acquire control over the senses is to keep doing Sadhana and constant self-inspection. Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses from external objects) is the best solution till the time Absoluteness is attained and to keep away from any object that agitates, or excites your mind!

SOHAM - Newsletter by Tanuja Thakur - Vol.1 Issue No - 17 2. Memoirs with my Master (Guru Sansmaran) Mantra moolam Guror vaakyam moksha moolam Gurukrupa (the gurus divine words are like the divine chants and the final liberation occurs due to His grace)
In 1997, when I got accustomed with the science of spirituality explained by His Holiness Gurudev in percentage terms, I found it really very interesting. I minutely studied spiritual practice as per spiritual level or capacity and tried to find out my spiritual level. I thought that my level would be at 50%, for I could accord priority to Sadhana, was blissfully attending Satsangs regularly and selflessly serving Dharma 4-5 hours every day. During one Satsang, my Shree Guru (spiritual master) told us that whatever be our spiritual level, we can make faster spiritual progress by doing defined Sadhana for the next higher level. For instance, a Sadhak at 40% level will make faster progress by making efforts for Sadhana through intellect of the 50% spiritual level. Similarly, a seeker at 50% level proceeds to the next level if he or she does Sadhana meant for a person at 60% spiritual level. I wanted to experiment with this theory of spiritual science. I had read that a seeker at 60% spiritual level can offer money, naturally, for Guru Kaarya (Gurus work). From that day, I started keeping aside 20% of the money to buy books written by my Shreeguru and send them to Bihar to my parents for the purpose of spreading spirituality. Simultaneously, I also started helping co-seekers, particularly housewives and students, who could not afford to spend money while commuting for Prasaar. This became the order of the day until May 2008. During this period, there were several obstacles. Yet, I continued with the practice of sacrificing money every month. In June 2008, I was reading a holy text, Shishya (disciple) authored by Shree Guru, which said that when sacrifice through body, mind and money reaches a 55% level, Sadguru accepts that seeker as His disciple. Being an intellectual, I thought let me see whether by obeying Gurus words, does He really accept me as a disciple if I offer 55% of my body, mind and wealth!!! When I prepared my schedule, I thought that the effort to do chanting constantly was already going on and this was an offering at the mind level. After completing work at the office and home, I was putting in three-four hours in Seva of Dharma Prasaar, this constituted the sacrifice at body level. Also the entire Sunday used to be spent in doing Seva. Hence, only offering 55% of the money remained. The next day, I calculated the 55% of my monthly income and enthusiastically told the Kendrasevak (the seeker heading the centre) that I would offer a certain amount for Gurupournima to be held in July. I did not divulge to anyone that I had decided to sacrifice 55% of my income. It is my habit that I never share my internal thought process with anyone except the Almighty. However, today I am sharing this too upon Gods instructions. Since the amount was a bit on the higher side, she (the Kendrasevak) said with surprise and happiness: Do as you please, but see that you have no problems in meeting your home expenses. It was June 20 and I had barely started a consultancy in partnership a year ago and my business partner was also of a contented nature and possessed seeker-like demanour. Hence, money-related problems had never cropped up between us. We were expecting a large sum as payment from two companies to reach us in a day or two. However, the next day I came to know that a company from which we were to receive the largest sum was facing financial problems. We were told that the payment would be made
7
SOHAM - Newsletter by Tanuja Thakur - Vol.1 Issue No - 17 after two months. I smiled to myself thinking that the test had begun. On July 13 was the Gurupournima. The seekers of our Shree Guru rarely ever ask for money. And more so, my Kendrasevak would never do so. However, look at the Lila (divine play) of the Guru, that the Kendrasevak said, You had promised an offering. When will you give it? For a few moments, I felt as if Shree Guru were Himself saying so. I did not know how to tell her that the company upon which I was relying to make the offering of such a huge amount was not sending me the money that month. This incident took place on July 4. Interestingly, the attendant again asked me about the money on July 8. I do not know, but each time she asked me about the money, I felt as if Shree Guru were Himself demanding the 55% that I had committed. I told her that I would give it the next day. (I would be reminded of an incident involving Him and His Guru that was mentioned by Shree Guru in His book, that how Baba (meaning how His Holiness Bhaktaraj Maharaj) would take demand the money from His Holiness Gurudev that He had kept aside for buying petrol for going to Mumbai. When Shree Guru offered the entire sum, Baba Himself gave the money to Shree Guru). The next day when I went to the office, my business partner was extremely happy. I asked him, What is the matter, you are very happy early in the morning? He said, An amazing thing has happened. One company, for which we had done some work six months ago and which had since then gone bankrupt, has sent us the payment. You take this and I will retain the next payment. Due to my spiritual bent of mind, my business partner used to respect me a lot. When I looked at the amount on the cheque, it was just a little more than the amount that I had decided to offer. It would leave me with just Rs 300 more, meaning my monthly expenditure of Rs. 10, 000 would not get covered! Let me narrate something equally interesting. When I went to the attendant at my centre to make the offering, I was again getting the feeling that instead of her, it was my Shree Guru who was asking me whether I had excess money and was sure I would not face any problems for my monthly expenditure. But I was anxious to prove to myself the science of my Guru. Hence I said, No, everything will be accomplished with Gurukrupa (Gurus grace). In December 1999, I had stopped saving money for the future, for I had eard Shreeguru saying More important than what we offer, is what we save for ourselves. (Hence, I used to offer whatever was left from the monthly expenditure)!!! A seeker should live in the present. Hence, I had even stopped saving money for the future!!! More the seekers faith on the Almighty, lesser becomes the faith on money, meaning a real seeker attaches more importance to God than money while the worldly people make money the basis. (I had to become a seeker, not worldly)!!! After making my offering on July 8, I was left with only Rs. 300 in hand, which in a metropolis like Mumbai would be spent in two days. For a fleeting moment, I thought how would I meet the monthly expenditure. But then, I reassured myself that instead of thinking of the future, one should live in the present. Moreover, I felt that since spirituality is an experimental science, I must try it out for that month. On July 11, another sum came from a company about which we had stopped thinking. My business partner said, You take half of this sum and I will take the other half. Considering it as Gurulila, I easily accepted the money and became free from the worry of arranging for the months expenditure. Gurupournima on July 13 was spent blissfully. Some events took place in such a manner that on July 21, I became a full-time seeker and on July 23, I came to Faridabad in
8
SOHAM - Newsletter by Tanuja Thakur - Vol.1 Issue No - 17 Haryana from Mumbai !!! I understood that each and every sentence of my Shree Guru is Brahmavaakya (the Almightys Divine words), is proven and eternal!! That is why it is said, Mantra Moolam Guror Vaakyam, moksha moolam Gurukrupa which means the gurus divine words are like the divine chants and the final liberation occurs due to His grace!! Here, I would also like to narrate an incident about the same Kendrasevak , who had twice asked me about the sum of money that I had offered. In October 1997, I got an opportunity whereby I could have earned double the income than what I was earning then. Moreover, since our Gurudevs organization was expanding, money was required. Usually, we seekers used to go around for collecting alms. So I felt that since I do not want so much money, I will offer 50% for Gurus Mission. I decided to consult this Kedrasevak who was like a friend to me also. I told her everything and also added that I would be able to offer Rs. 6 lakh per annum to the organsation. Listening to the viewpoint that she gave me enhanced my respect for her and our Shree Guru even more. She said, It is a beautiful thought that you want to offer money for Gurus Divine Mission, but in doing so, will not your Vyashti and Samashti Sadhana get affected? I replied, There will be no particular impact on Vyashti Sadhana, but for Samashti Sadhana I will not be able to devote time everyday and will only be able to come on Sundays. Since, it will be a coaching centre, my working hours would be from 2 p.m 9 p.m. She said, Look Tanuja, it is true that the organisation wants money to increase its wings; but our Shreeguru is Parameshwar. If He will just think once about it , anyone will come and give him Rs. 6 lakh, but your Sadhana will be stalled. Hence, in my view, you must give more importance to Sadhana, meaning Seva of Dharma Prasaar. The Seva of offering money can be done by anyone, but not everyone has the special ability of creating awareness about Dharma that you possess. Thus, you must concentrate on this alone. Listening to her, I felt grateful towards the Guru who had prepared such seekers. Otherwise in a city like Mumbai, if someone wants to offer Rs. 6 lakh and someone turns down that offer, asking the person to instead do Sadhana, Dharma-Jagruti (awareness about Dharma), live in bliss and not think about offering money in itself it was a remarkable thing. This episode increased my respect for Sanatan Sanstha manifold.

3. Practical guidance on implementation of spirituality Why is applying a Tilak (mark on the forehead) important according to spiritual science? Some people feel that applying a Tilak is a symbol of Hindutva. But it is really meant for a seeker from any sect who wishes to make spiritual progress and is beneficial for such a person. Just as a stomach-ache medicine made in Japan will have the same effect on an American, the underlying spiritual science in Hindutva holds good for other religions and sects too. The spiritual science applies equally to all Jivatmas (embodied souls). It is not as if it applies only to Janma Hindus (Hindus by birth)! Lets now understand the basic science behind Tilak. The mid-point of our eyebrows is called Adnya Chakra. It has a subtle entry point through which benevolent and negative energies both can enter our body. If a layering of Saatvik material is pasted here in a particular shape, the benevolent energy of the Universe gets attracted towards our body and it also protects us from negative energies. While applying a Tilak, Saatvik (spiritually pure) material such as sandalwood paste, Bukka, Vibhuti (holy ash), or turmeric, vermillion etc should be used. Women should apply Bindi (in round shape ) and men, a standing Tilak. If one belongs to a particular sect, a Tilak should be applied in accordance with that sects practice. Applying a Tilak calms the mind, due to protection from negative energies and divine forces getting attracted and a subtle Suraksha Kavach (protective armour) is formed around us. Nowadays, many women apply Bindi of odd shapes copying television serial characters. This easily attracts the negative vibrations of the negative energies to the Adnya Chakra and they start getting problems caused by demonic forces. Similarly, applying the plastic bindi available in the market these days too does not benefit in any way. Neither does it possess any ability to attract divinity, nor do such bindi possess the energy to provide protection from negative energies. While applying a Tilak, every seeker does derive benefits of spiritual science, be it a Hindu or a Christian, or from any other sect.

4. Anubhuti (spiritual experiences) of seekers Let us take a look at the Anubhuti of Kumari Maharani Jha, a seeker from Godda a) On May 30, 2010, I was at my maternal grandmothers place, meaning at Tanuja Didis village when I suddenly developed an ear-ache. The following day, I also had a headache, accompanied by fever and I started feeling uneasy. The pain became unbearable; it was then that I sent a seeker to call Tanuja Didi. Tanuja Didi came and kept her hand on my ear and my pain got reduced. Tanuja Didi said that if the pain recurs, just think that Tanuja Didis hands are on my ears. After Didi left, the pain recurred in the evening. I did as Didi had told me to do and spiritual healing began to take place on me. After that, I felt as if I was falling from my bed when Tanuja Didi caught me by the hand. But when I came out of my stupor and opened my eyes, I saw that Tanuja Didi was not present there. Analysis: This seeker suffers from problems caused by negative energies and this pain also occurs because of that. Hence, on application of spiritual remedies, her problems got reduced.
b) On May 1, 2010, Tanuja Didi had left a little bit of food in Vishnudham (where Didi lives). One seeker was about to throw it, but I accepted the leftover food as Prasaad (holy partake), due to which my ear- ache got cured. Analysis: Guru Tattva works according to the Bhav. c) On May 28, 2010 Tanuja Didi came to our village to give a Pravachan (discourse). I had prepared Puri (a type of Inidan delicacy that is made from wheat flour and is deep fried) and vegetable curry for her. After the Pravachan, Didi left our house without eating the food. After this, my father asked me to consume the food. Since I was feeling sad, I did not eat the food. But at night, a piece of Poori came out of my mouth. Analysis: A full piece of Poori coming out from the seekers mouth was a Lila planned by the Almighty, so that she could understand that the Seva performed by her with Bhav has reached the feet of the Lord, whether or not I have received it. God does not accept the food overtly, but rather accepts the Bhav (spiritual emotion) present in the food. This is the lesson from this Anubhuti.
d) December 26, 2010 was the establishment day of Upasana Hindu Dharmotthan Sansthan. The organisation was established by Didi on this day. When I saw Didi draped in a white saree at Agrasen Bhawan (the venue of the programme), I felt that Didi was none else than Maa Saraswati sitting upon a lotus flower. Such an Anubhuti was experienced by two more seekers which I came to know after two days. Analysis: The primary objective of Upasana is to provide Dharma Shikshan (education about Dharma) and the Lords divine element gets activated according to the work and objective of the organisation. Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge and Upasanas aim too is to provide education. Hence, seekers had similar Anubhuti.
11
SOHAM - Newsletter by Tanuja Thakur - Vol.1 Issue No - 17 e) Whenever Aarati is conducted in Kaali temple in the village, whether Didi is present at the Aarati or not, a seat and a Jhaal (musical instrument that she plays) is kept for Didi. On July 30, 2010, I was at my village. When I was performing Arati at my home, I too kept the seat and Jhaal and started singing the Aarati. Then I felt that I was standing in the Kaali temple and Tanuja Didi was seated and playing Jhaal.
Analysis: Proceeding from the gross to the subtle is the second step of Bhaktiyoga. When a seeker performs Karma Kaand (ritualistic procedures laid down in the scriptures) along with Upasanakaand with Bhav, the seeker gets such an Anubhuti.
5. Spiritual healing, questions & Anubhuti vis-a-vis negative energies Questions pertaining to negative energies: Question: Red ants and termites are like a terror in my house. Despite making several efforts, these cannot be driven awa. Is this due to negative energies? If yes, please suggest a remedy. - Lalit Kumar, Uttar Pradesh
Answer: If you have made various efforts and this problem has not got resolved, you can understand it is happening due to negative energies in your house. In such a situation, implement all the solutions pertaining to Vaastu Shuddhi (purification of the premises). For this, visit this link : http://www.tanujathakur.com/?p=1789 Also increase your chanting and prayers.
Anubhuti pertaining to negative energies:
Anubhuti: Like every day, on July 22, 2012, we husband-wife went to the first floor and after getting through with the daily routine, we started decorating all Pooja-related things for the day. In the midst of all this, we were also discussing the issue of Sadhana. I keep reading Tanuja Didis articles on Facebook and Soham and it is my effort that I tell my wife about all this. However, suddenly she was not ready to listen to anything in this regard and got angry, started behaving in a very abnormal manner. Before I could understand anything, she suddenly collapsed from the bed while blabbering something. After about 20 minutes, she got up on her own and surprisingly, she did not recollect anything about this incident. She said she felt as if she had been thrown down by someone from a great height. She began asking how long she had been asleep and now within such a short period, how would she be able to perform the Puja, chanting and salt-water treatment. She was behaving absolutely normally. I tried to remind her that we had woken up at 6 a.m. and while preparing for Puja had an altercation, but she could not recollect anything. I tried to attract her attention to the turn of events, but she just could not remember anything at all. - A seeker
12
SOHAM - Newsletter by Tanuja Thakur - Vol.1 Issue No - 17
Analysis: This seekers wife is affected by negative energies and after listening about my articles, the negative energy inside her manifested itself due to the Chaitnya (divinity) present in the article. Her abnormal anger, blabbering and fainting, all these are symptoms of manifestation of negative energies. On several occasions, it has so been that a seeker does not remember anything about such a manifestation. If this happens with any family member, ask that person to do salt-water treatment, chant and pray rigourously.
6. Clarification of doubts Question: Today, eating food with a spoon is considered a symbol of being modern and eating food with bare hands is looked down upon. Can you tell why was this culture of eating bare-handed in Indian culture? Was it due to some spiritual reason ? Answer: Our Indian cultures daily routine and rituals are based on the science of spirituality. The maximum amount of energy in our body flows through our toes and after that, through the pores of the fingers of our hands. For this reason, whenever we touch the feet of old people, spiritually evolved or saints and knowledgeable ones, they bless us by placing their hands over our head, just above Sahasrar Chakra, or on our back, (at the point of Anahat Chakra), thereby one receives energy in the form of blessings over our subtle chakras (cycles). When we eat food with our bare hands, the energy emitted from the fingers helps in making the food digestible. By the time we take food in the spoon and put it in our mouth, the energy cannot be transmitted through the spoon and reach the food. And remember that whatever has been prevalent n the vedic culture has a spiritual reasoning and is the symbol of true civilisation!
7. Efforts made by seekers for spiritual progress
a) Smt. Anjali Mehta from Karnavati (Ahmedabad) has made a chanting Yantra (device) of Shree Gurudev Datta
When Smt. Anjali Mehta started chanting the name of Lord Dattatreya, she started getting lots of Anubhuti so she has made a chanting Yantra for the propagation of this chant, so that the chanting could become constant. She is planning to get similar Yantra distributed to those acquainted with her. This effort of hers is praiseworthy.
b) A self-motivated Smt. Juhi Chauhan from Aligarh has started holding weekly Satsangs A spiritual camp has been held at Aligarh on two occasions, one for the old people and the other one for the youth. She has started holding weekly Satsang and contacted all her attendees through SMS, inviting them over for the Satsang. She has started holding Satsang based on the issues discussed in Soham. She reads Soham very carefully and tries to implement what she reads.

SOHAM - Newsletter by Tanuja Thakur - Vol.1 Issue No - 17 8. Anubhuti during Dharma Prasaar & Dharmayatra Spiritual problems caused to me and other seekers due to the hacking of my Blog: On July 14, 2012, my blog www.tanujathakur.com was hacked at 10.30 p.m and it was restored by a seeker of Upasana by 10.30 a.m on July 15.
On July 14, 2012 I had to go for a Pravachan (discourse) within Patna city at around 6.00 p.m. While going for the Pravachan, I was getting overcome by uncontrollable sleep and also developed hyper-acidity without any reason. Ordinarily, before a Pravachan, if I am about to get a good response from the Pravachan audience, I routinely encounter various types of problems. I thought that it could possibly be such a thing. Upon reaching the venue, I found as if my eyes were being forcibly closed. Somehow I started the Pravachan after saying the prayers. By the time the Pravachan got over, it was 9 p.m and the severity of my problems had become extreme. I developed chest-pain, my stomach had got bloated with gastric problem and I was getting overcome with extreme sleep and fatigue. I was staying at Shri Vermas place. By the time we reached his place, it was 10.30 p.m. Seeing my condition, both the husband-wife got a bit scared. Upon reaching his house, I fell on the bed unconscious and remained in that state for two hours. I woke up from my sleep at 12.30 a.m and after changing the clothes, I went back to sleep. The Sookshma Yuddh (subtle war) continued the entire night and there was no let-up in my problems. When I woke up at 4 a.m for my regular Sadhana, I saw an SMS from a seeker who helps with the Seva of the blog that our blog had been hacked. After that, I started a war at the subtle level through chanting and prayers. At 8 a.m, I called up another seeker who owns a software company and gave him detailed information about the incident. His engineers were trying to restore the blog and I was making efforts at a spiritual level. I had to travel by train that day for Bhagalpur and my train was running a little late. Shri Verma, who had come to see me off at the station, seeing my condition, asked me to remain seated in the vehicle till the train came. Even in the vehicle, I lay unconscious for another half an hour. At 10.30 a.m, the seeker informed that the blog has been restored. For the next two days, I felt extreme fatigue. The planning of the demonic forces had become known to my subtle Jivatma even before the attack on the blog started at the gross plane and the war had started which is why I was feeling so sleepy! In reality, the efforts to attack the blog started after 10.30 p.m, for the seeker doing the Seva of the blog told that he had posted the last article at 10.30 p.m. I became unconscious around the same time. My blog was hacked by a Maantrik (mantriks are the most powerful negative energies of the nether region) from the sixth Pataal. The physical puppets behind the hacking attack were some Muslims from Algeria. After the subtle war continued through the night, the strength of the negative energies weakened. After doing chanting and prayers in a conscious state, their strength was further nullified. Consequently, the blog could be restored without any damage. The effect of this attack was also felt by the seeker who does Seva for the blog and he too faced physical problems for two days. Another seeker too faced problems for two days, meaning the impact of an attack on Samashti level, is seen on seeker who has become one with Samashti Seva. Any incident has two aspects gross and subtle. Homogeneity can be seen on both the gross as well as the subtle aspects in this incident too. Just as the Muslims from Algeria became a medium to hack the blog, similarly a seeker became a medium of God to protect the blog and chanting and praying crowned him with success.

SOHAM - Newsletter by Tanuja Thakur - Vol.1 Issue No - 17 9. Theoretical aspects of spiritual practice Prayer: Prayers carry a special significance for all the seekers doing Sadhana, according to Bhaktiyoga (Path of devotion). Prayer is a simple way of connecting with God. When we make an intense plea to God, it is known as prayer. If prayer be talked of in simple terms, it is a subtle medium of communicating with God. Prayers too are of two types Sakaam Prarthna (prayer with expectations) and Nishkaam Prarthna (prayer without expectations). Sakaam Prarthna means when a person makes a prayer with a view to fulfil a particular desire, or when a person makes a request to ones isht dev (benevolent deity). Sakaam Prarthna does not lead to spiritual progress. On the contrary, we spend our Sadhana or spiritual energy in fulfilling a particular desire. Nishkaam Prarthna means when a seeker prays for removal of obstacles, or protection from negative energies, or merely to receive divine grace. Such a prayer is known as Nishkaam Prarthna and leads to our spiritual progress. A prayer made for the nation, or protection of Dharma too falls under the category of Nishkaam Prarthna, for it contains the sentiment of Bahujan Hitaay, Bahujan Sukhaay (benefit and happiness of the multitude). Sagun (manifest) and Nirgun (unmanifest ) Prarthna Prayers too have levels of Sagun and Nirgun. When a prayer is made using words as a medium, it is known as Saguna prarthana while the wordless prayer which just has the feeling of gratitude and complete surrender is known as Nirguna Prarthna . Normally, the prayers of saints are of a Nirguna level. When should one pray for others? When we pray for the removal of problems of another person, we lose our Sadhana at a rapid pace if we are below 60% level because we are interfering in the other persons Prarabdh (destiny) without possessing the ability, or are trying to make to an effort to protect that person from problems caused by negative energies. In both cases, we tend to spend our Sadhana. Hence, it is improper to get swayed by emotions and pray for others despite not possessing the qualified spiritual capability. On the contrary, by enhancing our spiritual capability, we can do the welfare of others merely through our power of resolve. Our sages, hermits and saints have written several such prayers which we call Stotras, which inherently contain the power of their resolve. For this reason, we are eternally grateful to them. The success of a prayer depends upon the Bhav (spiritual emotion) of the person and the spiritual level of the person who is praying.

SOHAM - Newsletter by Tanuja Thakur - Vol.1 Issue No - 17 Prayers are a powerful medium in subtle war
During the present times, when the problems caused by negative energies are at their pinnacle, prayers are the perfect medium of doing Sadhana and for resolving such problems. If one cannot do chanting, one must pray. A simple remedy to fght with the negative energies is just praying and chanting.
Make prayers an integral part of daily life
Pray as much as you can. If every of our action starts with a prayer and ends with gratitude, you can consider that our entire daily routine has become a Yadnya Karma (spiritual deed), in which all the Karmaphal (fruits of the actions) will be burnt down. While praying, contemplate on one deity, so that both your concentration and Bhav may increase rapidly. We can pray anytime, anywhere, at any place and in any language.

SOHAM - Newsletter by Tanuja Thakur - Vol.1 Issue No - 17 10. Why is it so in Vedic Sanatan Dharma ? * Why should leftover food not be accepted? The Raj-Tam vibrations present in the body of the person whose leftover is accepted (along with the touch of that persons saliva) start spreading rapidly through the flow present in the food in the body of the person who consumes the leftover. Similarly, the person who consumes leftover food can also get infected by that persons spiritual problems, which, through the medium of food can enter the body and make roots there. During the present times, 70% of good seekers and 50% of ordinary people suffer from medium to severe level of problems caused by negative energies. Hence, through the medium of someone elses leftover food, such a problem can infect one easily. In Kaliyug, it is exceedingly difficult to find a Saatvik soul that does not suffer from any problems caused by negative energies. Hence, as far as possible, do not accept the leftover food of anyone. But the leftover food of saints must definitely be accepted as Prasaad (holy partake) because with the divine leftover, purification of the gaps in our body can be attained.
* Why should stale food not be eaten? Stale food is left for a long time. Thus, through contact with the Raj-Tam vibrations present in the atmosphere, the food gets contaminated.
* Consumption of which food increases which Trigunas (three components )?
a) Food eaten at the house of saints, or at their Ashram leads to an increase in Sattva Guna. b) Eating in canteens, or at marriage parties, leads to an increase in Rajoguna. c) Food offered by the wicked ones, canned, tinned food and fast food lead to an increase in Tamoguna.
Why consuming curd at night should be avoided? Why should one follow the dietary rules according to the changing seasons? How is physical and spiritual harm caused due to consumption of fast food? Why should aerated drinks not be drunk? Why should chocolates not be eaten?
