BCM-5000 is a 4.5 day advanced course for those professionals who have a high exposure and
responsibility for BCM. The curriculum will enable participants to gain a thorough understanding of the
10 professional practices for BCM Practitioners, the globally recognized methodology for implementation
and management of BCM programmes. This will give the participants the skills and understanding to
drive complex BCM programmes and BC projects for the entire organisation
Course Overview
This course will provide participants with the detailed
concepts, skills and knowledge to:
- Develop BC plans; initial response and notification;
problem assessment, disaster declaration and
escalation, recovery and resumption strategies, and
normalisation.
- Identify possible threats, existing vulnerabilities, risk
exposure, and impact to the business goals and
objectives
- Develop risk management methods, risk control,
costs and effectiveness assessment, risk control
decision and risk reporting
- Identify and analyse business requirements to recover
critical business functions, quantify and qualify
potential impact and determine acceptable outage
parameters
- Strengthen BC resiliency concepts and model,
strategy and management
- Develop business continuity & recovery strategies for
timely and cost effective recovery
- Develop and implement comprehensive BC plans
- Validate BC plan through periodic testing and
exercises. Test plan contents, types of testing
methods, importance of test plans to ensure BC plan
effectiveness
- Assess and manage effective BC plan change
management
- Ensure effective organisation wide BC plan and
programme management on an ongoing basis.
- Create and develop BCM awareness and training
programs
- Implement BCM audit and assessment programs to
ensure BC plan effectiveness
- Drive organisation wide BCM programs
- Ensure effective programme management on an
ongoing basis

Pre-requisites and Certification
Participants are expected to be capable of demonstrating
suitable BCM experience for a course of this nature. This
will allow participants to actively participate in each
session and contribute openly to discussion surrounding
current issues and case studies.
Participants who successfully pass the online examination
at the completion of the course will be able to apply for
certification as Business Continuity Certified Experts
(BCCE).
