THE VEDIC DHARM AND MODERN SCIENCE - CHAPTERWISE SUMMARIES OF THE BOOK

NOTE The respected readers are requested to kindly read the overview and Introduction to the Book The Vedic Dharm and Modern Science before reading these chapter-wise summaries. The book contains nine sessions (chapters) and ten essays. This attempt is aimed to introduce the readers the simplified form of the book for quick comprehension of the subject matter Summary of Session No. I The characteristics of Vedic Dharm

Since humanity is one, Nature is one, God is one, therefore, DHARM IS ALSO ONE

Let us understand the difference between Dharm and Religion :A group of eighty eight thousand scholars of various fields called Shaunak researched the Laws of Nature1 through Samadhi. Years after years the research continued through tradition. The laws were verified by several Maharishis and Brahmrishis. Thereafter the findings were declared as ultimate or - THE WORD OF GOD.

Vedic Dharm

It accepts the existence of Almighty.

It permits several techniques of prayer, called Yoga. These are based on faith and logic both. Open debate is allowed before initiation. To project wholesome view, the scientific part was covered into symbols and myths i.e. it was amalgamated with Arts and Literature. This technique proved interesting, and attractive, hence became popular. Puranic literature is an excellent example of this kind.

NOTE:1 The laws of nature are detailed in chapter No. II. In brief these are :- Sathya; Tapah; Selfless duty and Daana (giving alms). Also law of cycle, Motion/Rebirth; law of opposite/complementarity; law of Karma; law of heaven/hell; cycle of eighty four lakhs of Yonis, concept of liberation and salvation; As the microcosm, so the macrocosm.

Religion:- In fact Religion is the modified form of Dharm. From time to time due to non-understanding of wholesome view1, the masses get confused about Dharm. The blind faith leading to fanaticism prevails resulting into social evils, criminality and bloodshed. To mitigate fanaticism and violence, the prophets are sent on earth. They preach masses the love and brotherhood. The preachings are restricted to suit the local conditions, the taste and calibre of the masses, as they do not understand logic :-

Conclusion :Religion is therefore based on local conditions and purely on faith. It is also based on the verdict of a single person and disallows any debate on the verdict of the prophet.

It carries only simplest form of prayer technique. According to the need of the time and conditions prevailing, the prophet sometimes keeps mum even about the existence of God.

Thus the religion is not universal.

NOTE:-

1:- A story of four blind people is relevant in this context, who tried to experience an elephant by touch and could gather only the partial knowledge hence started fighting. The case of religion is similar as the masses can not perceive the wholesome view. This happens in every age. The present day fighting and blooshed is the result of non- understanding of wholesome view of Dharm.

Our institute has tried to show the complete elephant i.e the wholesome view of Dharm through this book, which if understood correctly shall mitigate the fallacy prevailing amongst religions and shall restore peace and global brotherhood. This is the challenging job for the scientific world.

Universality and Vastness of Vedic Dharm Since God is formless and nameless, but functions behind the curtain through the Nature in number of ways. Hence it has been assumed, that ultimate God has divided Himself in number of god-forces (deities), who together run the universe, sustain it and destroy also. The formless and nameless god-forces, which in fact are, various electro-magnetic frequencies have been visualized in human form based on their tendencies, so that the common man can understand easily. These are briefed as under:Lord Rama functions through photon particles, the symbol of knowledge (Gyan) and the life force. The light (photon) particles are emitted by trillions of suns existing on 100 billion galaxies. Lord Krishna functions through dark matter, the powerful force of attraction, the symbol of love and the life force. It keeps all the galaxies dragged and in motion in particular orbit.

Durga - Terrific speed of galaxies generates tremendous amount of kinetic energy. This energy has been personified in the goddess form and is known as Durga . Brahma functions behind two outer rings of stars circling around the centre of milkyway, and performs the function of creation. Vishnu functions behind the third ring of stars of our milky way and sustains the creation Shiva functions behind the central column of the milky way, supports the entire milky way and is the lord of creativity, sustenance and destruction. Rudra The latent force working behind neutrino particles is continuously engaged in destruction and bringing the entire cosmos to the state of non-activity. River Ganga It is believed, that the river ganga is coming down the earth from the feet of Lord Vishnu. This is the language of symbols. The actual meaning is different. In fact it is the symbol of particles constantly raining from the milky way. Since the cluster of particles raining alongwith others contains proton (Vishnu) particles as well, therefore this composition keeps all the beings alive. The river Ganga is now -a- days polluted by sewer and chemical waste and is not even worth bathing, but the society is still

worshipping, because they are not aware of the correct meaning to whom they are supposed to worship. If river Gunga is declared a national river, then it will serve the people in a much better way.

Cow The Symbol of Mother Earth Besides being the compulsory duty of the state (Refer essay no.3 for duties of the state in the book), it is also the sacred duty of every individual to keep the humanity free from hunger, poverty and disease, either by donating through N.G.O.s. or individually, so that the poor are protected from the pains of life, falling to criminality and converting to other religions. The Rishis have, therefore, prescribed a tradition of offering one loaf to cow before enjoying ones own meals. This is a symbolic teaching. The instructions of scriptures have been ignored for over three thousand years causing financial imbalance in the society, leading to social evils like untouchability, hatred, increase in crime and growth of other religions.

Cow - Symbol of Mother Earth

Varna It means colour of the sub-conscious. Green colour has a tendency of a Brahmin, indigo of a warrior and violet of a business class. Accordingly the students in Gurukuls were admitted and education imparted. For the rest of colours, technical education was prescribed. Thus the people lived in the society judiciously and peacefully Aashrama The Rishis resided in Aashramas, carried out research work and the Vedic injunctions were implemented through Kings and Sanyasis. Besides this the Rishi Parshuram, the army chief of vigilance deptt was also deputed for implementation of Rishis instructions. Vedic Knowledge and Wholesome view It covers three fields of knowledge :(a) Spiritual Science

(b) Mythology (c) Physical Sciences Thus the composite knowledge of all the three represents the wholesome view of human life. System of Poly gods The system has been designed for attaining worldly happiness e.g. health, wealth, knowledge and protection from adversities and thereafter leading gradually to liberation/salvation

Comments of an eminent Scientist

The rich Indian imagination has created a vast number of gods and goddessess, whose incarnations and exploits are the subject of fantastic tales collected in epics of huge dimensions. The Hindu with deep insight knows that all these gods are creations of the mind, mythical images representing the many faces of reality. On the other hand he or she also knows that they were not merely created to make the stories more attractive, but are essential vehicle to convey the doctrines of a philosophy rooted in mystical experience. Improved technique of Preaching - This is the superb technique of preaching. The dialogues between gods and Narad. Shiva and Parvati, Arjuna and Lord Krishna are few examples of transmitting subtle knowledge to the masses. This technique does not hurt the ego of the taught, so is easily digested. Rise of Controversies Due to non-understanding of Science of Symbolism, there was a bloody war between Shaivites and Vaishnuvites for over one thousand years. There is still a city known as Miamee in U.S.A, where devotees of two gods line up separately with a dividing wall in between two temples to do Darshan of their gods.

During medieval period, six philosophers initiated very hot debate by proposing their opinions known as Nyaya, Shankhya, Vaisheshika, Astang yoga and Poorvi Meemansa. The matter was ignited by Muni Charvak, stating that there is no spirit or God. This human body alone is everything. Finally Maha Rishi Vedvyas by writing Srimad Bhagwad Geeta also known as uttri Meemansa or Vedanta Dar Shan cooled down the debate, which was known in the language of symbols as Tarkasur killed by the god Shadaanan - the son of Lord Shiva.
