at the point (2, 0).

b. The curve y = px 2 + qx + 2 has a tangent line y = −x − 2 at the point (1, −2).


Find the value of p and q.

c. Find all the numbers that satisfy the conclusion to the mean value theorem
for f (x) = x 2 + 2x − 1 the interval [0, 1].

d. Given that f (x) = 12 + 7x − x 2 satisfies the Rolle’s theorem on the interval


[a, b] where there are at least a number c on [a, b] for which f ´(c) = 0. Find the
value of a, b and c.
