A Message from Trevor

2013 has got off to a good start with a steady order intake and good production figures to match. February and March will no doubt be challenging; the industry is generally quiet at this time of year which usually means our competitors are quoting keen prices and short lead times. It is therefore vital that we all concentrate on doing our jobs to the best of our abilities and keep our customers happy to prevent them from having a reason to look elsewhere. I was very pleased to receive some very positive praise from the people at Fortnum & Mason last week, everyone in the company has played a part in that; from printing boxes inside and out, taping them, counting them out of stock, to hair drying it is really good that we have a happy customer there. Currently we are all trying hard to impress the new people we are dealing with at the Bong, Milton Keynes factory. Its vital that we all pull together and hang onto the business that has transferred there following the closure of their Washington site. Focus on doing your job to the best of your abilities and remember that its up to all of us to keep our customers happy keep up the good work.

Employee Profile: Peter Bush

Peter will be retiring from Caps Cases at the end of this month and we will all be sorry to see him go. Along with Charlie, Peter set up Caps Cases back in October 1982, just 2 weeks after being made redundant. Peter was 29 at the time and had 2 children, Richard, 20 months and Sarah, 2 weeks! Since then he has kept an eye on all the finances of the company as well as being the computer man, the phone man, the insurances man and not to mention the person that everyone turns to when no one knows what to do! He is now all set to retire and is looking forward to spending time with his children and grandchildren.and maybe a little time on a golf course or two!
All set to retire and enjoy time with his grandchildren not to mention time on the golf course!

New Policy on Unpaid Holiday As a company we have always tried to be as flexible as possible with regard to approving holidays including unpaid holiday. At times this has caused us problems and has meant that weve had to pay more in overtime payments to compensate for those not here. We have therefore decided to implement a new policy: Unpaid holiday will only be considered for employees in exceptional circumstances. Where applicable, an employees accrued annual leave is to be utilised before unpaid holiday will be considered. Where unpaid holiday extends beyond a one-week period; other leave entitlements will cease to accrue for the period of unpaid leave. Please note any existing bookings for unpaid holiday will remain in place.

Childcare Vouchers Childcare vouchers are a Government approved, taxefficient way of paying for childcare. They can be used for children of all ages (up to 16) and for all types of childcare. If you join, you can start to receive vouchers in exchange for part of your gross salary. This is known as salary sacrifice. The part of your gross salary you exchange for childcare vouchers is tax-free and exempt from National Insurance Contributions. Because of this, you can make savings of up to 933 a parent, a year. It does not cost you anything to sign up for childcare vouchers and the scheme applies whatever rate of tax you pay. AM I ELIGIBLE? To be eligible for childcare vouchers, you must: be employed (but not self-employed) be a UK tax-payer be the parent or legal guardian of at least one child between 0-16 years use registered childcare

Q: I currently complete a Self Assessment Form. Do I need to include my childcare vouchers? A: No, because this is a salary sacrifice scheme handled through payroll and has already been taxed correctly at source at your marginal income tax rate. If you do not currently complete a Self Assessment Form this will not trigger the need to do so.

Q: Can both parents claim childcare vouchers? A: Yes, both working parents may take childcare vouchers, making their potential family saving 1,866 a family, a year.

Q: Will childcare vouchers affect my eligibility for other not earn less than the minimum wage after childcare vouchers are taken into account employee benefits? A: Pensions, redundancy pay, Statutory Maternity Pay, Statutory Paternity Pay, Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit may be affected if you receive childcare vouchers.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT MORE, SEE SARAH BUSH FOR AN INFORMATION PACK OR VISIT www.computersharevoucherservices.com

If you have a student loan, your loan repayments may reduce because your total gross salary on which National Insurance is paid has been reduced by taking a childcare voucher.
