Auto Breaking and Entering
January 2013
Activity Summary:
There were twenty-five (25) Auto B&Es reported in January 2013. There were nine (9) Auto B&Es reported
during the same time frame in 2012. This is a 178% increase from 2012 to 2013.
Eighteen (18), or 72%, took place at residential locations.
Fourteen (14), or 56%, of the incidents involved unforced entry.
Twelve (12), or 48%, of the incidents were discovered on a Tuesday.
Ten (10), or 40%, were discovered between the hours of 0800 to 1159.
Seventeen (17) incidents are open for further investigation, seven (7) have been closed with leads
exhausted and one (1) has been closed cleared by arrest.
Comments/Recommendations:
Historically, HPD has an average of 25 Auto B&Es during the month of January with a current threshold of 9 to 41.
This January, we were within the threshold with 25 reported Auto B&Es.
Forecast for February:
The average number of Auto B&Es for the month of February is 22 plus or minus 14. By the end of February, there
is a 68% chance HPD will have received between 8 and 36 reported Auto B&Es.
