Inspirational! Lift Me Up is a cleverly categorised compilation of wisdom and sayings. There are great triggers to change your mood, help heal, clarify and motivate you. The index aids in choosing the right theme for your situation. As a Futures trader I use it as a tool to clear mental blocks and help focus. Being a Mum can be stressful so I use it to cope with anything from worry to slowing down. When travelling I use it as a source to give me a smile or boost that I sometimes need. This collection of powerful quotes will inspire and nourish your soul. Lisa J Norman Qantas Captain, Mum, Futures Trader

In Lift me UP, Sinan Koray has selected inspirational gems which address a wide range of topics. He has sifted through a multitude of possibilities and carefully selected passages which I believe speak to a wide variety of readers. Words, phrases and anecdotes are often important to help one see the world from a different and more favorable perspective. They can also help to refocus one's thoughts towards achieving desirable outcomes. Some of the passages in Lift me UP are familiar but still remain poignant. Others present a glimpse of the wisdom and perspective of authors that one may not have read. In either case, they nudge one to think about the issues at hand from a fresh perspective. The book is an easy read which can be devoured quickly. However, each quotation can be individually pondered and savored. This is the real value that I have found in Lift me UP. Many of the topics contain inspirational passages from a number of different sources which helps one to address the topic at hand from different perspectives. The wisdom gleaned from these sources provides me with excellent starting points for my own internal dialogues aimed at achieving a better understanding of myself and others while moving towards a more fulfilling life. INTRODUCTION This book is a resource. I compiled and collected ideas, thoughts, wise words and gems spoken and written by my mentors, teachers, fellow travellers and friends. I take no credit for the wisdom, only for bringing them together. A study was conducted in the 1990s in USA where a group of Psychology undergraduates followed primary school children to record the positive and negative messages they received on average each day. The results were appalling. At the ripe ages of primary school years, these impressionable minds received, on average, thirty two positive messages compared with four hundred thirty two negative messages. That is a ratio of fourteen to one. No wonder we grow up immersed in doom, gloom, pessimism and misery. No wonder we find it easier to find faults than praise. More recently in 2008, Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) study into brain functions showed that we spend (ponder) nine times as long on negative information compared with equally positive information. Television, newspapers and electronic media pump nothing but bad news. A good news broadcasting station in Canada that was trialled failed miserably as no one tuned in. The English language has approximately four and a half times as many negative words as positive words. We are addicted to negativity. How are you meant to have a positive outlook on life? How can you make a success out of your life? If you keep thinking negative thoughts, keep hearing bad news, keep focussing on what is missing and not working, you can not come even close to successes, abundance, prosperity, happiness, joy and freedom that is your birthright. In order to get there, you need to balance the negativity you are exposed to. You need to wash yourself clean of the dirt, the muck that is smeared all over you every moment of everyday. There are books, movies, seminars, workshops, ashrams, motivational CDs, DVDs, MP3s available out there. I have gone through quite a few of them. I have collected the best of the best. These words are your first aid kit, your maintenance program, to Lift You Up from the negativity you are exposed to and firstly neutralize and then propel you towards the successes that are rightfully yours. Sinan Koray, Sydney, Australia, 2010 Every effort has been made to acknowledge the author of the quotations used. Please contact us at info@wecarewelistenwehelp.com if this has not occurred.

FEAR Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deep fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves: Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually: Who are you not to be? You are a child of God. You playing small doesnt serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the glorious God that is within us. It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to be the same. As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others. Maryanne Williamson Resentment is about not having what you want in the past. Anger is about not having what you want now. Fear is about not having what you want in the future. Let us not look back in anger, nor forward in fear, but around in awareness A life lived in fear is a life half lived. Fear, the best way out is through. Helen Keller Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood. Marie Curie The only time we grow is when we face a fear. Helen Keller Whenever there is fear, you will get wrong figures. W. Edwards Deming How can I get rid of fear? By walking up to the thing you are afraid of. Florence Scovel Shinn Fear is faith that it won't work out. Sister Mary Tricky Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear not absence of fear. Mark Twain A fiercely guarded palace indicates a scared king or queen inside. ANGER Holding on to anger is like holding on to a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned. Buddha Anger is only one letter short of danger. You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger. Buddha When angry at someone ask yourself: What am I not doing in my life that I could be doing, that I am blaming him/her for not doing it for me? When someone is wronged, he must put aside all resentment and say - my mind shall not be disturbed, no angry words shall escape my lips. I will remain kind and friendly, with loving thoughts and no secret spite. Buddhist Prayer We are most likely to get angry and excited in our opposition to some idea when we ourselves are not quite certain of our own position and are inwardly tempted to take the other side. Thomas Mann When the impulse arises to verbally or physically attack someone, work it out physically. Go for a run or a swim. Get into a room by yourself and yell, beat cushions. Get into a gym and cycle until your legs shriek. Later ask yourself why that person had the power to upset you so much. Later still, an only when you are calm, talk about it. Don't carry a grudge. CHARACTER Maturity is the ability to accept responsibilities, to stick with a job until it's finished, to do a job without being supervised, to carry money without spending it, and to bear an injustice without wanting to get even. Cowardice asks the question is it safe? Expediency asks the question is it politic? Vanity asks the question is it popular? But conscience asks the question is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular; but one must take it because it is right. Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Personality is nothing but the set of barriers we erect between ourselves and other people. Tibetan Buddhism If you want to know what a person is really like, give him or her some authority. You can tell more about a person by what he says about others than you can by what others say about him. Leo Aikman Blessed is the person who has learned to admire but not envy, follow but not imitate, praise but not flatter and lead but not manipulate. Always put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the person, too. May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy and enough money to buy gifts. A careless word may kindle strife; a cruel word may wreck a life; a timely word may level stress; a loving word may heal and bless. When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the world. As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change, so I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country. But it too seemed immovable. As I grew into my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled for changing only family, those closest to me, but alas, they would have none of it. And now as I lay on my deathbed, I suddenly realise: If I had only changed myself first, then by example I would have changed my family. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, then money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearances, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company a church a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We can not change our past we can not change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We can not change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is out attitude I am convinced that life is 10% of what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. Leo Buscaglia If you want your children to turn out well, spend twice as much time with them, and half as much money on them. Abigail Van Buren Children! Tired of being harassed by your stupid parents? Act now. Move out, get a job. Pay your own bills. Really enjoy yourselves, while you still know everything! Parents are often blamed, but seldom trained. Dr Thomas Gordon, founder of Parent Effectiveness Training, PET A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in or the kind of car I drove but the whole world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.

CUSTOMER SERVICE A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider on our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favour by serving him. He is doing us a favour by giving us the opportunity to do so. Mahatma Gandhi

TIME The bad news is time flies. The good news is youre the pilot. Michael Althsuler Time is very slow for those who wait, very fast for those who are scared, very long for those who lament, very short for those who celebrate. But, for those who love, time is eternity. William Shakespeare As you move faster, time moves slower. Albert Einstein A man with one watch knows what time it is. A man with two watches is never sure. MIRACLES The world is full of miracles: every moment, everywhere. We get accustomed to them and wonder where the miracles have gone. Sometimes it takes a shift to open our eyes. Tune in your awareness to the wonderment around, savour every moment. You will begin to see the stream of miracles around you. It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

TAKE A BREAK Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen. Leonardo Da Vinci

PRAYERS Lord, Make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that I receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi Ask, and it shall be given you; Seek, and ye shall find; Knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For everyone that asketh, reveiveth; And he that seeketh, findeth; And to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:7,8 God Grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other. Reinhol Niebuhr (now the Serenity Prayer of Alcoholics Anonymous)
