1. BACKGROUND OF SOCIETY Cowles Chilingulo briefed the group on the Background of the society. He said that the society started way back in 1998 where a group of student Radiographers came up with an idea of forming an association. An interim committee was elected and the draft constitution was made available. The lawyer reviewed the constitution and requested money to be used as transport to deliver the constitution to the Registrar. The association failed to progress due to lack of funds. ln 2009 Late Mr Nkhoma and Cowles Chilingulo revived the process, they managed to source a lawyer who assisted free of charge, they made little changes to the constitution which was drafted in 2008. They managed to find 7 people to be trustees. They contributed some money and bought a common seal, Cowles compiled all the necessary documentation and submitted the application to the Registrar General in 2009. However, the Registrar advised the group to have the following; a) b) c) d) Obtain written permission to use the name Malawi from OPC Increase the number of trustees to 8 on application form A Provide audited accounts of the association Provide a statutory declaration for each trustee
