Equity and Human color

None chooses his skin color . I am black because I was born into a black family. You are white because you were born into a white family. It is a genetic thing and out of one`s control . So no one should be blamed for his color. Long time ago, In Arab peninsula things were different and one`s color mattered. People were categorized and dealt with them accordingly. Slaves and free . Poor and Reach. Masters and servants. In that atmosphere , people lived difficult life full of obligations in favor of upper class. Basic rights that we have now like the right to work , to get a fair salary were not available for many people at that time. When the dawn of Islam came out, all aspects of injustice and oppression on people had been removed. Islam made all people one category with no differences between them regarding color or origin or sex or ethnicity . Almighty Allah said in Quran : O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted1. In an authentic hadith prophet Mohamed says :" O People! Your God is one; your father is one; no

preference of an Arab neither over non-Arab nor of a non-Arab over an Arab or red over black or black over red except for the most righteous. Verily the most honored of you is the most righteous."( narrated by Ahmed ). In anther application of equity rule in Islam , Usama approached the Prophet on behalf of a woman (who had committed theft). The Prophet said, "The people before you were destroyed because they used to inflict the legal punishments on the poor and forgive the rich. By Him in Whose Hand my soul is! If Fatima (the daughter of the Prophet ) did that (i.e. stole), I would cut off her hand.2" Muslims are commanded to treat their servants as they treat their brothers. When Islam came out , slavery did exist and prophet Mohammad ( P BU H) recommended his friends to well treat slaves . In an authentic hadith , Al Marur bin Suwaid narrated that: " I saw Abu Dhar Al-Ghifari wearing a cloak, and his slave, too, was wearing a cloak. We asked him about that (i.e. how both were wearing similar cloaks). He replied, "Once I abused a man and he complained of me to the Prophet. The Prophet asked me, 'Did you abuse him by slighting his mother?' He added, 'Your

slaves are your brethren upon whom Allah has given you authority. So, if one has one's brethren under one's control, one should feed them with the like of what one eats and clothe them with the like of what one wears. You should not overburden them with what they cannot bear, and if you do so, help them (in their hard job).3" It is worth to mention that all type of mistreatment that exist in some Muslims countries are against Islamic principles and Islam should not get any blame for that , as religion should be judgeby its script not by its people.
