DESCRIPTION OF SUBMISSION 1. IDENTIFY AND DESCRIBE THE COMPONENTS OF THE MAJOR TOOL. The Major Tool is comprised of the items necessary to meet the standards and requirements of the course or subject for which it is designed and submitted. As part of this section, include a description of the educational approach of the submission. (Add pages as needed.)

EDUCATIONAL APPROACH: (The information provided here will be used in our catalog in the case of adoption of program.) Calculus I with Precalculus serves as a comprehensive teaching and learning resource to introduce calculus to a wider variety of high school students. This innovative text begins with three chapters of pre-calculus, then moves right into first-semester calculus. The text is ideal for courses that wish to reinforce algebraic skills within pre-calculus and then successfully transition students into calculus itself. It features an in-depth, systematic study of each basic class of functions algebraic, exponential and logarithmic, and trigonometric first through pre-calculus, then through calculus. MAJOR TOOL - STUDENT COMPONENTS: Calculus 1 with PreCalculus, Pupils Edition with Learning Tools CD-ROM The text contains nearly 10,000 exercises. Each exercise set is carefully graded, progressing form skill-development problems to more rigorous problems involving applications and proofs. Technology is integrated through the text; but not required. Students will have over 1,000 titled examples that make the material accessible to all types of learners. Real-world applications motivate students to understand important concepts. Exploratory project help students discover concepts on their own. The Learning Tools CD-ROM contains study tools and text-specific resource material, including additional practice that will support students as they work through Calculus I with Precalculus. MAJOR TOOL - TEACHER COMPONENTS: Complete Solutions Guide with Instructors Notes Contains detailed teaching notes, chapter outlines, and discussion topics. Provides complete solutions for exercises in the pupils edition.

2. Briefly describe the ANCILLARY materials submitted for purchase and their relationship with the major tool. (Add additional pages as necessary) STUDENT COMPONENTS: Study and Solutions Guide Provides complete solutions for odd-numbered exercises in the pupils edition. TEACHER COMPONENTS: Test Item File This is the printed version of the items available on the test generator. Test Generator CD-ROM This electronic test generator helps teachers prepare a variety of tests and quizzes.

HOW MUCH INSTRUCTIONAL TIME IS NEEDED? Identify and explain the suggested instructional time for this submission. If a series, state the suggested time for each level. The goal is to determine whether the amount of content is suitable to the length of the course for which it is submitted.

Calculus I with Precalculus is intended for one year (two semesters) of academic study or an equivalent block of time.
4. WHAT TRAINING/INSERVICE IS AVAILABLE? Describe the training/inservice available from the publisher, the type of inservice available, how it may be obtained, and if there is a charge for the service. (If this program is adopted, this information will be used in the compilation of our catalog.)

McDougal Littell will provide inservice/staff development to each Florida school district in which Calculus with PreCalculus is adopted. Consultant services and staff development may be arranged on a mutually convenient basis at no cost to the local school district. This service is provided for the life of the contract and may be arranged by contacting the McDougal Littell sales representative for the local district. The company maintains a toll-free telephone number (1-800-323-5435) to answer questions and provide service to teachers. This service is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday. For technical support for McDougal Littell software, teachers can call 1-800-727-3009 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday.
