II. Professional Information:


1- Overall aim of the course:
The aim of the course is to develop enhanced skills and understanding of the practice of crown and bridge so that the graduate is competent in the diagnosis and treatment of more complex problems. It is also intended that the graduate will be more aware of the necessity for life-long learning and will also have enhanced communication skills.

2- Intended Learning Outcomes of the course ( ILOs): A: Knowledge and understanding of:
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Diagnosis and planned treatment for patients requiring crown and bridge Therapy. Group discussion of cases. Dental material science relevant to crown & bridge. Principles involved for support, retention, stability, esthetics, phonation, mastication,preventive and social aspects of Crown & Bridge. Ability to diagnose failed restoration and provide crown and bridge therapy and after care. Current infection control procedures and their scientific basis. Research methodologies. knowledge of applied basic and systematic medical sciences.

B: Intellectual Skills:
1. Take a proper clinical history, examine the patient, perform essential diagnostic procedures. 2. Review critically the outcomes of treatment and make appropriate changes to original treatment plane.

C: Professional and practical skills:


1. Maintain a safe and infection-controlled environment. 2. Work within the scope of the dental team. 3. Communicate effectively with patients, team members and other specialists in dentistry. 4. Use clinic equipment during fixed partial denture delivery. 5. Restore lost functions of stomatognathic system namely mastication, speech, appearance and psychological comforts, by understanding biological, biomedical, bioengineering principles. 6. Perform clinical procedures with understanding of biomaterials, tissue conditions related to prosthesis and have competent dexterity and skill for performing clinical procedures in crown & bridge.
