(4) Clean or replace the Pc air filter. (5) For aircraft equipped with bleed valves: (a) OPERATORS OF SERIES I AND II ENGINES 1 1 Clean the bleed valve air system and poppet seat area of ash deposits. On applicable engines, clean the bleed valve air system and poppet seat area of ash deposits. (b) OPERATORS OF SERIES III AND IV ENGINES
(6) Perform compressor erosion inspection. (7) Replace the engine low pressure fuel filter. (8) For aircraft equipped with the Honeywell (Bendix) fuel system: (a) OPERATORS OF SERIES I AND II ENGINES 1 Any signs of deterioration in the decel time is cause for fuel control removal/replacement. Any signs of deterioration in the fuel control operation is cause for removal/replacement.
(c) During all compressor washes the Pc line should be disconnected and reconnected for drying as defined in the appropriate Operation and Maintenance Manual. (d) If contamination of the fuel control system is suspected, the fuel control and/or governor should be removed/replaced. (9) For aircraft equipped with the Goodrich (CECO) fuel system: (a) Clean or replace the high pressure fuel filter. If contaminants are found in the fuel control inlet filter, flush the fuel control. C. The volcanic ash is highly abrasive and corrosive to engine components. When operating in the volcanic ash cloud or when hovering in ash covered areas, a rapid deterioration of power can result from compressor erosion or systems contamination. The pilot should closely monitor the engine instruments for signs of malfunctions or power deterioration and take appropriate action. Engine malfunctions or power degradation should be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the applicable Operation and Maintenance Manuals. NOTE: Higher instances of turbine sulfidation will also be encountered as a result of operation near volcanoes, whenever possible the aircraft should be operated up wind of the site.
