All 250-C20 Compressor Assemblies prior to CAC 30326 (approximately). All 250-Bl7 Compressor CAC 60012. Assemblies prior to

REASON:

To provide a new rear compressor (#2) bearing with a two-piece inner race, a one-piece outer race, and a silver-plated steel separator. Races and balls are made from M50 premium steel. Also, a new antirotation locking key, oil slinger and locknut are used. The key is designed to fit matching slots in the bearing outer race and rear diffuser. The new slinger and nut are the same as the present parts except they have closer squareness tolerances and will therefore provide better alignment of the bearing inner race halves to the shaft journal. The old #2 bearing and locktng key are replaced by new parts. The old slinger and nut are inspected. If they meet or can be reworked to new part specif ications, they are reidentified and reused. If they do not meet specifications, new parts are installed.

COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY, NEW #2 BEARING, SLINGER AND NUT-INSTALL INTERCHANGEABILITY:

When the new bearing is installed, the new locking key, oil slinger snd nut must also be used. However, the new nut and slinger can be used with the old bearing and key. COMPLIANCE: APPROVAL: MANPOWER: To be accomplished no later than next overhaul. FAA-DER approved. No additional man-hours will be required to accomplish thii bulletin at time of overhaul if all new parts are installed. If the nut and slinger are reworked, approximately one additional man-hour will be required. Gn 250-Cl8 and Cl8B Compressor Assemblies prior to CAC21441 and 250-Cl8A and Cl8C Compressor Assemblies prior to CAC21709, 250 CEB-57 is a prerequisite for this bulletin.

Rework P/N 6853337 (C20), P/N 6858348 (Cl8), or P/N 6876206 (Bl7) Compressor Assembly as follows: A. Disassemble as necessary to remove P/N 6871502 or P/N 6875003 #2 Bearing, P/N 6871401 or P/N 6874886 Locktng Key, P/N 6825734 Oil Slinger and P/N 6840405 Spanner Nut. Scrap bearing and locking key. Refer to Figure 1. Inspect P/N 6825734 Oil Slinger for conformance to the 0.0005 parallel requirement. 1. 2. If part meets the requirement, obliterate former part number and reidentify as 6876877 per AS478 CL-M. If part can be reworked to meet parallel requirement, rework as necessary, obliterate former part number and reidentify as 6876877 per AS478 CL-M. If part cannot be reworked, Oil Slinger. scrap and obtain a new P/N 6876877

Refer to Figure 2. Inspect P/N 6840405 Nut for conformance to the 0.0005 runout requirement shown. 1. 2. If part meets the requirement, porarily attached tag. reidentify as 6876878 on a temrework as attached

If part can be reworked to meet runout requirement, necessary and reidentify as 6876878 on a temporarily tag. If part cannot be reworked, Spanner Nut.

Reassemble compressor using new P/N 6876005 #2 Bearing, new P/N 6877081 Locking Key, a P/N 6876877 Oil Slinger and P/N 6876878 Spanner Nut.

When tightening the nut, pre-torque to 450 in. lb., loosen and retorque to 250-300 in. lb. This torquing method assures proper seating of the two-piece inner race in the new #2 bearing.

Record compliance with 250 CEB-135 (Cl8), 250 CEB-1009 (C20) or 250 TP CEB-1007 (Bl7) in the Compressor Assembly (Blue Pages), Modification Record, Part RI of the Engine Log Book.
